Chapter 90 Euthanasia

Ah Huang doesn't understand the rules of the human world; it simply makes judgments based on its own survival principles. It has only one unwavering belief: to protect its master. Anything contrary to this belief is wrong.

Ah Huang's menacing appearance made the group of police officers tense up again. They once again took out their tranquilizer guns and approached Chen Chongshan step by step.

"Put it on a leash right now and get it in the police car, or we'll shoot!" the policeman shouted at Chen Chongshan again.

As the police drew ever closer, Ah Huang grew increasingly agitated, its barks becoming more threatening, and it was even ready to attack.

It set its sights on the policeman at the front, confident that it could pounce on him before he could fire and then bite his neck off.

Just as Ah Huang was about to pounce, Chen Chongshan crouched down, grabbed Ah Huang, and said to the policeman, "Give me the leash."

The policeman tossed the dog leash to Chen Chongshan, who then put it around Ah Huang's neck. Ah Huang was somewhat surprised by Chen Chongshan's actions, not understanding that this was a form of protection from its owner, and it barked a few times in protest.

But Chen Chongshan ignored it and instead stared at the police, asking, "What are you going to do with it?"

"Come with us to the bureau, pay the fine, then get all the legal paperwork done for the dog, and then send it out of the city."

The police officer replied, paused, and then added, "If you are unwilling to pay the fine, we will euthanize it."

"Euthanasia?"

Chen Chongshan was startled, then fell silent and took Ah Huang into the police car. He knew his power was limited, and to protect Ah Huang, he could only go along with them, regardless of right or wrong, his resistance would only be futile.

Ah Huang was led into the police car, and the crowd began to jeer. Chen Chongshan watched them coldly. He knew that it was this group of people who had driven Ah Huang to this point. If he hadn't returned in time, Ah Huang might have already lost his life. This was a desolate world, and Chen Chongshan felt somewhat frustrated.

Sitting in the back of the police pickup truck, the late autumn wind was a bit chilly. Chen Chongshan held Ah Huang tightly. They would face many dangers along the way, but Chen Chongshan believed that they could overcome them. As long as they did not give up, what did any danger matter?

Along the way, Ah Huang stopped resisting being leashed. As long as Chen Chongshan was by its side, it felt that this was everything. However, Chen Chongshan was thinking about many things and was worried about how to handle the situation. Just then, Chen Chongshan's phone suddenly rang.

Upon seeing the incoming call notification, Chen Chongshan paused for a moment, then laughed. Although he often complained about the coldness of the world and the indifference of human relationships, he also felt fortunate. After encountering many mean-spirited people, he had also met many people who had helped him in various ways.

Chen Chongshan pressed the answer button. He knew that with this call, he no longer needed to worry about what would happen tonight.

"Chongshan, have you arrived in Tanzhou yet? I just got back from Hubei today and brought back some good dogs. Would you like to come and see them?"

On the other end of the phone, Xu Jiaming's voice was unusually excited. Chen Chongshan had mentioned to him before that he would be coming to Tanzhou some time ago. Although he didn't say what it was about, Xu Jiaming still remembered it.

In Tanzhou, Xu Jiaming held a unique position. For someone in his position, making a true friend seemed to be a difficult task. However, Chen Chongshan was an unexpected gain for him. He liked this simple and honest country boy very much and felt that he was a friend he could confide in. Moreover, Chen Chongshan didn't seem to want anything from him.

"I'm in Tanzhou now," Chen Chongshan smiled, then replied, "but I can't come see your dog right now."

"What's going on?" Xu Jiaming asked suspiciously. "I feel like there's a lot of wind blowing over there. Are you in the car? You're not going back today, are you?"

No, no.

Chen Chongshan shook his head and replied, "Ah Huang has been arrested. I'm in the police station's car right now."

"Has Ah Huang been arrested?"

Xu Jiaming was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly asked, "You brought Ah Huang to Tanzhou? What happened? Did it hurt anyone? How come it's in the police station's car?"

"Ah Huang didn't hurt anyone."

Chen Chongshan replied, "They said Ah Huang is a prohibited breed and they need to take him back to deal with it."

"Why should he bother with anything if no one was hurt?"

Xu Jiaming immediately cursed and shouted, then said, "Alright, Chongshan, don't be anxious. Which police station arrested you?"

"XX Police Station, XX Road," Chen Chongshan replied honestly.

"Okay, you wait here, I'm coming right now."

Xu Jiaming responded and then hung up the phone.

Hearing the busy tone on the phone, Chen Chongshan smiled, put the phone away, and his mood instantly became much lighter.

As he looked at the bustling city along the way, a sense of longing suddenly welled up inside him. He was an eighteen-year-old boy with the dreams that come with adolescence, and he felt that he also wanted to survive in such a place and light up his own neon light in this prosperous area.

I shouldn't be ostracized here, and Ah Huang shouldn't be hated by them either.

The car quickly drove into the police station. After getting out of the car, Chen Chongshan held onto Ah Huang's leash tightly, not letting Ah Huang leave his side for even a moment. Chen Chongshan was no longer afraid; he was just waiting for Xu Jiaming to come and resolve the final matter for him.

As for whether Xu Jiaming can be resolved, Chen Chongshan felt that this was not something that needed to be considered. The Yizhou Municipal Party Secretary needed to be treated with proper respect, so how could he not be able to handle a police station like this?

Upon entering the police station, a policeman led Chen Chongshan into an office, and then began their procedures. However, when faced with their questions, Chen Chongshan simply refused to say a word more, and did not inquire about the fine. In any case, there was no point in saying anything more; Xu Jiaming was the one who could truly resolve the matter.

Chen Chongshan's attitude infuriated the police officers, who threatened him again that if he did not cooperate with them to complete the procedures, they would consider him to have abandoned the dog and would deal with it on the spot.

The police's attitude began to turn somewhat hostile. Since they put on their uniforms, few people had dared to disobey them. They had long been accustomed to giving orders with an arrogant attitude.

But now this guy, who looked like a country bumpkin, dared to give them attitude. They were furious and prepared to pull out the tranquilizer gun again. They knew that this dog was Chen Chongshan's weakness. As long as they controlled the dog, they wouldn't have to worry about him not paying the fine.
