After leaving the Yuan family, Chen Chongshan felt as if he had walked through hell. His heart ached, and he felt a tightness in his chest that he couldn't release, nor could he find an outlet for his emotions.
The sun was still shining brightly outside. There was very little rain this autumn, so Chen Chongshan could go hunting in the mountains almost every day. This seemed to be the only fair thing God had for him.
Chen Chongshan was not in a hurry to go back. Ah Huang's injuries had not yet healed, and he could not go hunting. He aimlessly rode his motorcycle around the streets. Where should he look for the 340,000 yuan shortfall?
The small county town was still very lively during the day, with various vendors coming and going in an endless stream. Chen Chongshan's gaze followed the roadside vendors all the way, and finally, when he passed a second-hand house sales office, he suddenly stopped.
He recalled the news of his hometown being demolished over the past year or two. Now he seemed to be at his wit's end. If those demolition rumors were true, his old courtyard house might be worth some money.
Chen Chongshan thought to himself, then stopped his motorcycle and slowly walked into the real estate agency.
"Handsome, looking to rent a place?"
A young woman looked at Chen Chongshan and asked, her expression not very respectful. She didn't think she could do any business with this boy who looked like a high school student and was dressed very simply. It was just a habitual greeting when a customer came in.
"I don't want to rent a place." Chen Chongshan shook his head.
"What are you doing here if you're not renting? Are you going to buy a house?" the young woman asked irritably.
“No. I’m selling the house,” Chen Chongshan replied, shaking his head.
"Sell the house?" The young woman paused for a moment, then looked at Chen Chongshan suspiciously. "Kid, how old are you? Do your parents agree to sell the house?"
"Of course I can sell my own house."
Chen Chongshan did not answer her question, but insisted.
"Then tell me, where are you selling houses?" the young woman continued to ask.
"The house in Group XX, Village XX, West of Meishan County," Chen Chongshan replied seriously.
"XX Village in the west of the city?" The young woman paused for a moment, then burst into laughter: "Kid, what are you joking about? What kind of house would you sell in your poor, remote village?"
"Who's out of their mind to buy a house in your area?"
The young woman laughed for a while, then waved her hand: "Kid, go to school. Don't bother me at work. Really, you're just looking for trouble."
“Isn’t that area going to be demolished? Once it’s demolished, it’ll be worth a lot of money, and people will buy it,” Chen Chongshan insisted.
"Demolition?" The young woman scoffed. "They've been talking about demolition there for years, but have you ever seen any thunder or rain?"
"Stop dreaming about things that aren't even true. Go do what you need to do. Besides, if it's going to be demolished and you get compensation, why would you sell it? Can't you just keep it and wait for the compensation money?"
Chen Chongshan was stunned by what the young woman said, but he also seemed to think that what she said made sense.
He left the secondhand housing sales and rental center in frustration and got back on his motorcycle. Just then, he saw Huang Mao San walking confidently across the street with a powerful yellow dog.
His target wasn't Chen Chongshan, but upon seeing Chen Chongshan, Huang Maosan stopped and called out, "Hey, young master Chen, what are you doing here?"
Huang Mao San actually harbored some resentment towards Chen Chongshan. His arms and thighs had been bitten by Chen Chongshan's dogs, and several of his own fierce dogs had been killed because of Chen Chongshan. What was most frustrating was that in the end, he had to bow his head and even pay Chen Chongshan 20,000 yuan in compensation.
Because of this incident, he lost all face in the underworld; but there was nothing he could do, because Lin Jianbin had to intervene, so he had no choice but to submit.
Huang Mao San knew he wasn't qualified to challenge Lin Jianbin. Although he seemed to be doing very well in Meishan County, he could be easily killed by Lin Jianbin with just a single word.
Since ancient times, the common people have never fought against officials. Lin Jianbin is not an official, but his father is a very powerful official.
Chen Chongshan glanced at Huang Maosan, but his attention was drawn to the big dog Huang Maosan was walking. He replied casually, "Nothing much, just taking it for a walk."
"Hey, Huang Mao San, what kind of dog are you?"
Chen Chongshan asked another question. Although he kept dogs, his knowledge of fierce dogs was pitifully small. He only found out that Ah Huang was a Central Asian Shepherd Dog when he noticed that Ah Huang's size was unusual and looked up information online.
"How about the Japanese Tosa? Impressive, isn't it?"
Huang Mao San laughed heartily, clearly very fond of this Tosa dog. After his own dog was killed and maimed by those rich young men from Tanzhou and Ah Huang, he spent a lot of money, using a combination of coaxing, deception, and even some trickery, to acquire this dog from a dog enthusiast in a neighboring county.
"Japanese Tosa?" Chen Chongshan nodded. He was somewhat familiar with this primitive Japanese fighting dog; he had heard of it before.
Huang Mao San's Tosa is a three-year-old male dog, entirely golden in color, a size smaller than Ah Huang, weighing about 120-130 pounds. It has its tongue lolling out, yet it makes no sound; it is a silent warrior.
Japan is a country that knows how to have fun, and the fighting dogs they breed are indeed playful. They are required not to make a sound during a fight. Of course, this does not mean that the Tosa doesn't bark.
The Tosa was once considered the best large fighting dog because of its strong stamina and fighting spirit. However, based on current fighting data, it may not be the best, but it is certainly a formidable opponent.
Among those who keep fierce dogs, there is a saying that goes, "You may not like Japan, but you can't ignore the strength of Tosa."
"How's it going? Young Master Chen, where's your dog?" Huang Mao San looked around and asked.
“My name is Chen Chongshan.” Chen Chongshan replied, and then said, “Ah Huang fought with a leopard in the mountains and was injured. He is recuperating at home.”
"You fought a leopard and didn't get killed?" Huang Mao San was stunned for a moment and asked in surprise.
"I'm fine, just a minor injury to my leg," Chen Chongshan replied.
"Awesome." Huang Mao praised. He knew Ah Huang was a strong dog, but he was still surprised that it could fight a leopard and still survive.
"Chen Chongshan, I've arranged a dogfight today. Got it? If not, come watch the fun with me."
After a pause, Huang Mao San unexpectedly extended an invitation to Chen Chongshan. With the reputation of Tosa, which he had bought the day before yesterday and had adjusted for two days, Huang Mao San couldn't wait to arrange a match for it and wanted to see its true fighting strength.
"Dog fighting?" Chen Chongshan asked in confusion.
"Yes, playing with fierce dogs is just dog fighting."
Huang Mao nodded three times: "Don't think dog fighting is bloody. It's just like hunting dogs hunting or pet dogs pleasing their owners. The value of dog fighting is reflected in the dog fighting arena. Moreover, dog fighting was originally born for fighting."
Huang Mao San gave a long, rambling explanation, which Chen Chongshan listened to quietly. After looking at the quiet Tosa, Chen Chongshan thought for a moment and nodded: "Okay, it's fine to go and take a look."
With nothing else to do and no idea where to raise money, Chen Chongshan agreed since Huang Mao San wanted to take him to see a dogfighting competition that he had heard about for a long time but had never seen.
He wasn't afraid that Huang Mao would trick him into going somewhere to be taught a lesson. With Lin Jianbin's name backing him up, Chen Chongshan had nothing to worry about.
The place where Huang Mao fought dogs was located in a dilapidated factory in the county town. The group walked for about ten minutes and arrived there.
Across from them, a bald man and a tiger-striped Canary were already waiting. The frenzied Canary began to roar wildly upon seeing the Tosa, while the Tosa remained silent, like a mute.
However, Chen Chongshan saw a different kind of fervor in its eyes, just like Ah Huang's reaction after encountering wild animals on the mountain...
