Liao Bin shook his head and asked, "By the way, how's Ashura? Is he alright? He's not dead, is he?"
“It’s over there.”
Old Fu pointed to the side of the tent, where Ashura was lying lifelessly on the ground in a pile of dry grass.
The dogs all gathered around it, greeting it one by one, but it still kept its eyes slightly closed. The pain in its body was too intense, and it didn't have much strength to respond.
"How's the situation?"
Chen Chongshan looked at the Asura, then asked in a deep voice.
"Not great, but not too bad either."
Old Fu shook his head: "Three ribs are broken, the muscles on the injured side are damaged, and there is a fracture in the spine. However, there is no danger to his life. It is similar to the Demon King's situation back then. He should rest for one or two months."
"That's alright."
Chen Chongshan nodded. As long as there was no danger to his life, the injuries could be healed slowly.
"Then we can't leave yet, right? How will we get out?"
Xu Jiaming asked with some concern.
"If you rest for two days, you should be able to leave," Old Fu nodded in reply.
"So we have to wait here for another two days?"
Liao Bin had some doubts, and Xu Jiaming also frowned.
They had been in the mountains for several days. Initially, they were enjoying themselves because of their adventurous spirit, but now that they had solved the mystery, they were starting to feel bored and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Besides, these dogs just committed a bloody crime deep in Shennongjia. If the white ape doesn't give up and comes to ambush them again, the consequences could be severe.
It should be noted that even a fierce dog with such a powerful physique would find it difficult to withstand a single blow from it.
"Let's see how it goes first. We'll rest for the night, and if Ashura's condition improves tomorrow, we'll get a stretcher and carry it out."
Chen Chongshan pondered for a moment before speaking.
"That's fine too." Old Fu nodded.
"Haha, I almost forgot, even without us, Chongshan, you and Ah Huang could get it out of here, right?"
Xu Jiaming smiled and suddenly remembered the scene he had seen before where Chen Chongshan and Ah Huang worked together to carry the wild boar.
"Yes," Chen Chongshan replied with a smile.
With everything arranged, everyone began preparing dinner. The black bear that had been hunted at breakfast was still in the same spot, and Lao Fu had already cut up some of the better parts.
Although there were no hunting dogs to guard the area, no wild animals came to hunt in broad daylight.
Various kinds of roasted meats were already on the bonfire, and two bear paws were also cooked on the fire by Lao Fu.
With the pressure of the journey gone, everyone seemed to breathe a sigh of relief at this moment.
Although the trip to explore Shennongjia was tiring, it was also very rewarding. They saw many things that they had only heard about in rumors before, and the mountains no longer seemed so mysterious to them.
The dogs scattered around the camp. Exhausted from the continuous chase and fighting today, and without even eating, they lay down to rest after eating some food.
It wasn't particularly late yet, and the people hadn't gone to sleep. When night fell, they would have to take on the duty of keeping watch.
The night was peaceful. Although the carcasses of a bear and a wild boar were still nearby, it seemed that these wild animals, who were not short of food, had realized that these few fierce dogs were not to be trifled with.
They witnessed the chaos this group of creatures had caused in the mountains and forests, and they knew that they might not be able to fight them head-on.
Most wild animals in the mountains and forests are cunning and cautious, and they wouldn't take such a big risk for a little food.
With no wild animals attacking, the dogs seemed much more relaxed. They lay around the campfire, occasionally eating a few pieces of roasted meat that Lao Fu had prepared for them on the nearby open ground.
Although there was fresh meat nearby, the smell of grilled meat was clearly superior to that.
They safely passed through the night, and at the crack of dawn the next day, everyone got up, quickly prepared some breakfast, and then prepared to head out of the mountain.
After a night's rest, Asura's spirit had recovered somewhat, but its body was still unable to move.
The broken bones had only just been set and couldn't possibly recover so quickly. It could only lie there in the haystack, finding it extremely difficult to even drink water, which Old Fu had to bring to its mouth.
"It seems we'll have to carry him on a stretcher."
Seeing this, Chen Chongshan shook his head and said in a deep voice.
Although Ashura weighs close to 130 or 140 pounds, carrying him out of the forest is no easy task. However, Ashura is quite expensive, and these are a group of dog lovers who would never abandon Ashura in the forest.
Even if the journey is a little slower, we can't abandon this guy; he's a loyal and good dog.
"This is the only way; given its current condition, we can't do anything rash."
Old Fu nodded, and then Chen Chongshan walked into the nearby grove and began selecting suitable tree trunks to make a stretcher.
Chen Chongshan was very familiar with this kind of thing. Soon, a simple stretcher made of a few hemp ropes and two wooden sticks was placed on the open ground. After a group of people packed up their tents and other luggage, several people worked together to lift Ashura onto the stretcher.
"Cao Yang, you and Chong Shan carry Ashura together for now. After we've walked a bit, we can switch people. With so many people, carrying it out shouldn't be too difficult."
After putting Ashura away, Liao Bin said to Cao Yang.
"Sure, no problem. What's the big deal if two people carry a dog?"
Cao Yang smiled and replied.
Chen Chongshan smiled and nodded. In the mountains, he and Ah Huang had carried wild boars across many mountain paths. With the help of others, carrying Asura was naturally not a difficult task.
Once everything was ready, the group set off, heading back the way they had come.
"We'll try to get there as quickly as possible, and hopefully before sunset. It took us two days to get here, but we took a roundabout route and the journey wasn't fast."
Liao Bin said as he walked.
"good."
Xu Jiaming nodded, and everyone else agreed.
Life in the mountains was not easy. This group of people had lived in seclusion for a while and were eager to return to their civilized world.
With faith in their hearts, the journey did not seem so long. The group only took a few short breaks along the way to rest and eat some food to replenish their energy. Finally, at the moment the sun set, they saw wisps of smoke rising from the opposite valley in the distance.
