Chapter 44 Idiot
Pei Jiuyan didn't want to talk. He was afraid to talk to Yun Zhaozhao right now because he knew what she wanted.
Even so, he sat down. He wanted to have a good talk with Yun Zhaozhao about the documents. He finally realized that many of their problems stemmed from the documents.
Yun Zhaozhao didn't give him a chance to speak, and said, "The first time I saw you was here. I still remember that you were wearing a white shirt that day."
"At that time, I thought, this guy is so handsome."
Yun Zhaozhao had never told him any of this before, and Pei Jiuyan couldn't bear to interrupt him. He looked at Yun Zhaozhao greedily.
“Dad said you weren’t as simple as you seemed on the outside. At the time, I wondered how complicated you could be. People’s eyes can’t lie; you clearly had me in your eyes. Later, I realized that experience really does pay off, and I was really bad at judging people.”
"The first time you made me want to let go was when I was almost raped, and you were seriously injured and hospitalized while saving Wenshu. At that time, I thought that since you liked Wenshu so much, I would let go and let you have your way. But the next day, you came to me and told me that you had sent Wenshu abroad. I was very happy. I thought I was the most important one in your heart."
At this point, Yun Zhaozhao smiled sarcastically and shrugged: "I was wrong again. I was still deluding myself. You sent her away not because I was the most important person in your heart, but just because you wanted revenge, while I was still foolishly believing in love."
"You must have been very happy to have played me for so many years, right? Are you satisfied now that you've seen me heartbroken and sad for you?"
“Zhao Zhao, I didn’t, I never thought that way. I didn’t play games with you, I didn’t tease you. I thought that being with you was the one playing games.”
Pei Jiuyan tried his best to explain, but Yun Zhaozhao found it unbelievable: "Me? Playing games with you? Pei Jiuyan, knowing me as you do, would I spend years playing games with someone?"
“I heard it.”
Pei Jiuyan pursed her lips: "I heard it with my own ears. You said that you let me stay by your side only because I am obedient enough."
Even though more than a year has passed, Pei Jiuyan still cannot let go of it.
Yun Zhaozhao was taken aback, then suddenly laughed: "Just because of this, you suddenly treat me like I'm not a person at all?"
Pei Jiuyan pressed his thin lips down slightly. Isn't this enough?
"So, you heard these words and left without even going in, didn't you?"
"Then you naturally don't know that it was Zhou Xiao and me who helped Whale rehearse his lines that day. He got a male lead role, and all you heard were lines."
Yun Zhaozhao glanced at Pei Jiuyan as she spoke: "I know you don't believe me, but you can search for that movie. It hasn't been airing for long, and the female lead in it has this line."
Yun Zhaozhao mentioned the name of a drama, which was the same drama that Wen Jingyu had previously starred in.
Pei Jiuyan's face turned deathly pale instantly, and his already weak stomach suddenly became painful.
Because of those words, he intentionally distanced himself from Yun Zhaozhao over the past year, sometimes even using harsh words to speak to her. He wasn't unaware of the sadness in her eyes, but he felt a sense of satisfaction.
He wanted to show Yun Zhaozhao that even obedient dogs can bite, and besides, he had never been an obedient dog.
Yun Zhaozhao hadn't expected that their strained relationship would stem from that sentence, but it didn't matter anymore, since it hadn't been entirely pure to begin with.
“I met with Uncle Zhang today. Do you remember him? He was my father’s special assistant. I asked him to confirm what your mother said, and it was confirmed that the land reclamation project was indeed happening. However, the person who encouraged your father was not my father; he himself jumped into it.”
"Uncle Liu and a few others were also present at the time, and I called them one by one to verify."
"Given your current status, Ninth Master Pei, verifying these things would be very simple, so I don't need to bother."
"From now on, please tell your mother to watch her mouth. If I hear another word of slander against my father, don't blame me for tearing her mouth apart. You know I have a bad temper and poor manners, so I have no qualms about doing this."
Yun Zhaozhao's every word struck Pei Jiuyan's heart, leaving him speechless.
“I didn’t care about that, Zhao Zhao.”
"I have never harbored any hatred towards your father. Even if it was he who brought it up with my father, I wouldn't blame him. After all, it was my father who made the final decision, and I won't blame your Yun family for the mistake. Besides, after getting to know your father, I know he's not that kind of person. He..."
Before Pei Jiuyan could finish speaking, there was a loud "bang" as Yun Zhaozhao smashed the cup in her hand.
"You knew all along? Yet you let your mother ruin my father's reputation, and you let your mother torment me."
“Pei Jiuyan, I now think you are even more hateful than your mother.”
Yun Zhaozhao roared, her emotions running high.
She had planned to have a good talk with Pei Jiuyan today, but this guy really knew how to make her angry.
She could understand Pei's mother's hatred; if she were in her mother's shoes, she wouldn't be able to face it calmly either.
However, Pei Jiuyan knew the truth, but chose to hide it all.
“Zhao Zhao, I have my reasons for doing this, I…”
"Shut up! I don't want to hear your bullshit reasons."
After yelling, Yun Zhaozhao let out a long sigh: "Pei Jiuyan, divorce! You have to return everything from the Yun family, not a single thing you took. Also, I want half of the Pei family's assets. That's what you owe me."
The Pei family property was something she wanted for the child in her womb. She planned to sell it after receiving it and leave everything to the child in her womb. Everything that belonged to the child was precious, even if Pei Jiuyan would never know of the child's existence.
Pei Jiuyan stared at Yun Zhaozhao for a long while, then moved his lips and squeezed out, "Zhaozhao, is it really impossible for us?"
"Unless I die, I'm definitely getting a divorce."
"No, even if I die, I don't want to be known as Mrs. Pei. It disgusts me, and I won't have the face to see my parents."
When Yun Zhaozhao gets ruthless, she can be more ruthless than anyone else.
She and Pei Jiuyan could never be together again, never.
This time, Pei Jiuyan remained silent for a long time. Yun Zhaozhao was getting impatient and was about to unleash her trump card when she heard Pei Jiuyan say:
"Okay, I agree."
“I’ll give you everything from the Pei family; I don’t want anything else.”
Yun Zhaozhao wasn't buying it: "Fine, I'll give you all of them, as long as you have enough money. I'll sell all the shares to you."
What she wanted wasn't shares, but money. Although shares were a long-term investment, she didn't want to have any further involvement with Pei Jiuyan.
"Zhaozhao, are you short of money?"
Pei Jiuyan felt that this was not like Yun Zhaozhao's personality. She was never someone who cared about money, but recently she had mentioned money repeatedly.
"Nobody is immune to financial difficulties. Besides, this is what I deserve. Why should I let that green tea b*tch get it?"
She may not care about money, but that doesn't mean she's stupid.
Pei Jiuyan was about to say that there was nothing between him and the clerk when Yun Zhaozhao said, "Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, the Civil Affairs Bureau. Don't be late. Now, leave my house. I don't want to see you again."
