Chapter 11, Second Tribulation: The Cold Descends (1/2)

Chapter 11, Second Tribulation: The Cold Descends

Cold weather is a very uncomfortable experience for people in any situation.

As the air temperature drops, the body temperature also decreases. In this environment, the body releases more heat to maintain its core temperature and resist the cold.

If the temperature drops another level, the human skin system will experience some problems. Prolonged exposure to low temperatures may lead to frostbite, and in severe cases, even tissue necrosis.

To cope with the cold, people normally need to take measures to keep warm, such as wearing more clothes, maintaining indoor temperature, keeping the body hydrated, maintaining good eating habits, and exercising regularly.

But we are at sea now. Although we knew the cold would come, we did not expect it to come so fiercely and so suddenly.

Cold is like a merciless enemy, invading your body instantly when you are unprepared and unaware, and by the time you realize it, it has already taken over every inch of your skin.

At this point, your body will shut down and enter its self-protection mechanism.

Not everyone is as forward-thinking as Shen Jue.

So while Shen Jue was sitting around the warm iron pot, the other players on the same sea gradually realized that something was wrong.

In their panic, they failed to notice that the wooden crate had not appeared since 6:00 AM until now at 7:00 AM.

Let's push the time back two hours.

The temperature had dropped to -10 degrees Celsius. Shen Jue could clearly feel that when she boiled water again, it took 20 seconds longer to boil than before.

Realizing this, Shen Jue boiled the water, poured it into a wooden bowl, and put it in her backpack for storage, hoping it might come in handy later.

An hour later, the players realized something.

Shen Chen: "Have you seen the wooden box since the safe period ended?"

Feng Xiaoxiao: "No, it turns out I'm not the only one."

Jiang Ting: "I haven't seen it either."

Lin Xiaoxiao: "I've always been very lucky. I haven't opened a single box since 6 o'clock."

Zhao Qiang: "Hmm, why does the name Lin Xiaoxiao look familiar?"

Lu Suxiang: "I remember now, she was the kind person who gave me food on the first day. Sister Xiao, how's it going on your end?"

Lin Xiaoxiao: "I don't know either. The wooden crate hasn't been opened since 6 o'clock."

Ding Zeyu: "Won't the game system stop distributing wooden crates after 6 PM?"

Success: "Looking back now, yes."

Lu Qingyuan: "This is a given fact. Once we leave the safe zone, we face not only environmental challenges, but also food shortages, and more importantly, water resources. A person can go three days without food, but absolutely cannot go three days without water."

Shen Chen: "This game system is really interesting."

Success: "If we eat food sparingly, we can last a long time. Instead of complaining, we should think about how to improve our water resources."

Zhang Yili: "Hmph, that's easy for you to say, but you'd better come up with a solution."

Success: "Everyone has rags, right?"

Success: "Use several rags, then break down a piece of wood to get some firewood. Fix the firewood into a tripod using the rags, then tie the rags in three layers on top and bottom. If you have a lot of rags, you can tie more layers. Then place the bowl at the bottom of the wooden frame to collect water. Since the surrounding area is all sea, you can only filter it repeatedly with seawater. Although the final taste isn't great, most of the salt has been removed. There will definitely be a bitter taste, but it's better than having no water to drink."

Zhang Yili: "Really?"

Success: "This method is only suitable for emergency life-saving purposes. Even after repeated filtration, seawater still contains a large number of bacteria, and drinking too much of it can harm your health. I'm telling you this method so that you can keep some in advance, in case you encounter a life-or-death crisis, a sip could save your life."

Feng Xiaoxiao: "Oh, I see. Thank you, Mr. Success."

The man named Chenggong reminded everyone that there was still a chance for the players on this server to survive.
