Chapter 2 The Allure of the Wooden Crate (2/2)

Shen Jue closed the chat. From their chat history, it was clear that no one had seen the wooden box since they arrived here.

Or rather, there are some, but very few, which is terrible news.

However, there is another possibility: someone caught it, but they didn't say anything.

Quietly develop and increase your survival ability.

The night was really unkind to her; I don't know if it was because she had been at sea for too long.

She hadn't eaten for two meals, and if she didn't get something to eat soon, she might starve to death at sea.

On this quiet night, Shen Jue lay alone on the raft, contemplating his future.

The moonlight, like a silvery mist, gently spilled over the deep blue ocean. The surface shimmered, as if countless twinkling stars were dancing in the night sky.

On that distant horizon, a glimmer of starlight flickered in the sea and drifted toward her. As it drew closer, Shen Jue realized that it wasn't starlight at all; it was something that could save her—a wooden box.

It was just the sign on top of the box that shimmered in the moonlight.

It was clearly written above:

(There's some food in the box; it might solve your immediate problem.)

Is this game system really that user-friendly? It even gives hints?

Shen Jue didn't believe the game system would be so kind; he was afraid it was a trap.

Who cares what's inside? Once it's fished up, she won't open it.

She waited until others caught the crates and saw their comments before deciding whether to open them.

With a thought, Shen Jue produced a fishing rod in his hand, gripped it tightly, and cast it toward the wooden box.

The hook caught the wooden box firmly, and it worked on the first try?

Shen Jue happily pulled the fishing rod, dragging the wooden box onto the raft.

Once the wooden crate was on the raft, the game system's notification sound rang out.

[You have obtained 1 wooden crate. Open it?]

【no. 】

This is the first time Shen Jue has caught this wooden box. It's normal for the game system to give a notification. In the future, if she catches a wooden box again and doesn't want to hear the notification sound, she can turn it off in advance.

Shen Jue carefully examined the wooden box; the bright white lettering on the top of the box was still so clear.

(There's some food in the box; it might solve your immediate problem.)

The words, about the size of a fist, can be seen from ten meters away as long as you're not blind. From a greater distance, they would look like twinkling stars on the sea.

The wooden box is a square wooden box, and it looks like a small suitcase. It is nailed on all four sides and is well sealed.

For once, the game system was surprisingly user-friendly; simply saying "open the wooden crate" brought up a prompt asking if she wanted to open it. Otherwise, with her small frame and lack of tools, she wouldn't have been able to open the crate even if she fished it out.

Shen Jue chose "no" again, and then checked the chat on the server, discovering that someone had fished up a wooden box this time.

"I caught a wooden box and was quite happy, but when I opened it, it was just a clump of weeds. What a disappointment."

“I also caught a wooden box. My situation is a little better than yours. It was a compressed biscuit. Can you believe that such a big wooden box only had such a small piece of compressed biscuit? It wouldn’t even be enough for a child.”

"You guys have all caught wooden crates, but I haven't caught one yet. You guys are so lucky!"

Looking at these chat logs, I learned from their conversations that the supplies in this wooden crate were all random.

More importantly, they didn't know what supplies were inside the wooden crate.

If that's the case, then what I see is different from what others see.

Shen Jue looked again at the wooden box that was steadily placed on the raft.

The sign above the wooden crate was like a huge temptation, drawing her to open it.

And her stomach rumbled in response!
