Chapter 136 Visiting the Sick
On the afternoon of the first day that Pengfei went to the alley, Zhuang Chaoying bought some fruits and went to Zhu Xiuyu's house.
He had only heard the approximate address before and had to ask along the way before he arrived at the yard.
There should be three families living in the yard, including Zhu Xiu Yu's family.
Originally there should be two families here. Zhu Xiu Yu's family built a room next to the house on the east side. If you didn't know, you would think it was a storage room for the two families.
When he entered the yard, Zhao Hongbin was collecting clothes hanging out to dry. When he saw Zhuang Chaoying, he looked surprised.
"Teacher Zhuang, why are you here? Come in!"
"Hongbin, where is your mother?"
"My mother is in the house. She's sick. The canteen won't let her go to work when she's sick. We agreed to go later."
Zhao Hongbin said this and let Zhuang Chaoying into the house.
It was not yet dark and the sun was still there, but the room was very dark, with only a small window letting in some light, and it was also very stuffy.
There is a curtain in the room separating the two small beds, and the rest of the space is just a cabinet, a table and two chairs. If there is one more piece of furniture, there will be no room to turn around.
"Mom, Teacher Zhuang is here to see you."
"Cough cough cough..." Zhu Xiuyu coughed for a long time before calling out, "Teacher Zhuang..."
"Hongbin's mother, what happened?" Zhuang Chaoying asked with concern.
"I just have a cold and a little cough."
"Have you gone to the hospital to get medicine?"
"Teacher Zhuang, my mother is reluctant to go to the hospital. She tried some traditional Chinese medicine according to a folk remedy, but she didn't get better. No matter how much I tried to persuade her, she refused to go to the hospital." Zhao Hongbin interrupted.
"How can this be? You have to go to the hospital when you're sick! Come on, I'll go with you. Hongbin, take your mother's medical certificate."
"Let's not go. It will be fine in two days." Zhu Xiu Yu refused.
"My mother is afraid of spending money." Zhao Hongbin sighed.
"No, that won't work. If the illness gets worse, it will cost more money. Let's go!"
Zhuang Chaoying went forward to help, and Zhao Hongbin went to get the medical certificate.
Zhu Xiu Yu was a temporary worker and used Zhao Hongbin's father's family ID card, so only half of her medical expenses were reimbursed.
He helped Zhu Xiu Yu onto the bicycle, pushed it from the front, and Zhao Hongbin supported her from the back.
I happened to meet someone who lived in the same yard returning home.
"This is Teacher Zhuang!"
"Yes, hello." Zhuang Chaoying answered politely.
"Ms. Zhu has been coughing badly these past two days. I also asked Hongbin to take her mother to the hospital. Don't delay any longer. Teacher Zhuang has to come!"
"Oh, yes, let's go to the hospital right away." Zhuang Chaoying nodded again.
"Then be careful!"
"Thank you."
Zhu Xiu Yu was very happy to see Zhuang Chaoying's reaction.
She didn't know that Zhuang Chaoying was beaten for this.
Before he divorced Huang Ling, Huang Ling fell ill once. He asked her to drink more hot water, and his glasses were almost broken by a book thrown by Huang Ling.
Huang Ling said at the time:
"Is hot water medicine or a doctor? Can a dying person drink a hundred pounds of hot water? If you don't know how to say it, don't say it. It's not that annoying to keep your mouth shut. I drink water when I'm thirsty. I need you to remind me of this! If you dare to go to the hospital when you're sick in the future, I'll break your legs. There's plenty of hot water at home, why go to the hospital?"
When I heard that Zhu Xiu Yu was sick, my first reaction was not to let her drink hot water and she had to go to the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, Zhuang Chaoying was not as familiar as Zhao Hongbin.
Zhuang Chaoying recalled that whenever the two children or their parents were sick, it was Huang Ling who ran to take care of them.
Zhao Hongbin and his mother depend on each other. When one of them is sick, the other is the only one by their side. They have no one else to rely on, so naturally they know everything and understand everything.
After going to the hospital for a check-up, fortunately they did not have pneumonia and did not need to be hospitalized. The doctor prescribed some medicine and told them to go home and rest.
It would be too late to go back and cook, so Zhuang Chaoying took them to the hospital cafeteria to eat.
He stood in front of the food window and thought for a moment about the dishes he had just ordered: cabbage stewed with tofu, stir-fried shredded carrots, steamed egg, rice and porridge.
"It's just a decent meal. The hospital cafeteria can't compare to the factory cafeteria." Zhuang Chaoying thought the food was really not that good.
"That's great, but it cost a lot of money..."
"It's not much, eat it quickly!"
After dinner, Zhuang Chaoying sent them back home.
When he returned, it was dark, so he did not go back into the hospital. He asked Zhao Hongbin to take good care of his mother and went back first.
Because Zhu Xiuyu was ill, he did not apologize properly, thinking that he should wait until she recovered before discussing these things.
He was the only one at home now, lying on the bed and thinking about random things.
Think about the past and the future.
Zhu Xiuyu is certainly not the best choice, but she has her advantages:
Gentle, honest, responsible, hardworking, caring, and most importantly, able to accept Pengfei.
This is one point, the only one among all the blind date candidates.
When Zhuang Chaoying was considering remarriage, he did consider Pengfei. He had no intention of sending Pengfei away, so the other party had to accept Pengfei.
When the two were together, Zhu Xiu Yu had almost no objection to this.
She said that she had heard from Hongbin a long time ago that Teacher Zhuang accepted his nephew who returned to the city alone, and she praised him highly for this, saying that he was a man of affection and righteousness.
Zhuang Chaoying also talked about the fact that others were unwilling to support Pengfei. She said that if it was a girl, she would be a little worried, but they were all boys, two or three, it didn't matter. Except that the quantity might be a little insufficient, everything else was not a problem.
He thought again of Zhu Xiuyu's proposal about the house.
It would be perfect if they could get separate rooms in advance or an extra room because they were getting married.
When he thought of the house, he thought of Lin Wufeng's description of Zhou Huaiyi's family situation, and his heart was filled with sourness.
I lay down for a long time but couldn't fall asleep, so I got up and started writing the textbook.
The summer vacation is almost over, and there will never be such enough time again. He plans to organize the parts he has already written and submit them to the Education Committee as soon as school starts.
This time, he would go to the school for his children and ask for the position of deputy director of teaching.
Ever since he ignored Zhuang's father and mother, although he had to pay fifteen yuan every month to his parents to pay off their debts, he and Tuanan were the only ones who needed the money. The money given by Pengfei's mother was enough to support Pengfei, so he was not short of money and had even saved some money in the past six months.
He thought that if he used the money to give gifts and build relationships, he would be able to get the title of deputy director.
But he had never done these things before, so he wanted to find someone to discuss it with. After thinking about it, he found that no one could help him, so he thought of Huang Ling again.
She is smart and should know what to do better.
But now she probably doesn't want to have anything to do with herself.
After thinking about this, I can only give up and figure it out on my own.
He continued to work, feeling satisfied with the hard work he had put in over a month. This was something he was good at and enjoyed, and most importantly, he could make money from it.
I was busy until the early morning before going to bed. I slept until noon the next day when I was woken by a knock on the door.
