Chapter 160 I Blame You
In the evening, Zhuang Chaoying stayed with Old Man Zhuang in the hospital, while Old Lady Zhuang brought Zhendong and Zhenbei to Zhuang Chaoying's home.
There was no one in the yard, and Zhuang's mother pushed Zhendong.
Zhendong had no choice but to call out, "Auntie!"
Zhu Xiu Yu came out of her room and stopped Zhuang's mother and the other two who were about to enter.
"Mom, why are you here? Come and sit in my room."
Zhuang's mother knew that there was no place to put her feet after the bed was placed in her room. The three of them could only stay on the bed after entering the room.
So, Zhuang's mother pointed to the big room and said, "Let's talk in this room."
"No! Tunan is graduating this semester. When Chaoying went to the hospital, he told me not to go into the house, for fear that I would disturb Tunan's studies." Zhu Xiu Yu lowered her voice.
"You!" Zhuang's mother didn't know whether she should quarrel or not.
"Come, let's talk in my room." Zhu Xiu Yu invited again.
Zhuang's mother frowned and walked into the room. Zhu Xiuyu asked them to sit on the edge of the bed, which was covered with an old patched quilt.
"Mom, just tell me what you want to talk to me about." Zhu Xiuyu said softly.
"I have a cold these two days and I'm afraid of infecting Zhendong and Zhenbei, so I asked them to stay here with their brothers for two days." Mother Zhuang didn't want to beat around the bush anymore, so she said it directly.
"Oh, Mom, this won't do! Chaoying is determined to fight me to the death."
"Why fight for your life? My nephew is staying here for two days and I have to fight for my life."
Zhu Xiuyu had no intention of retreating at all.
She said to Zhendong Zhenbei, "Zhendong Zhenbei, go to the kitchen. There are some steamed buns on the low cabinet. They're still hot. Go and eat them!"
As soon as Zhendong and Zhenbei heard that there were buns, they went out.
Zhu Xiuyu's voice turned cold, and she said to Zhuang's mother:
"Mom, Tunan is his life! If it affects Tunan's studies, Chaoying will not only fight with me, but also with you! Besides, where else can we live here? We can't just let the villager have a bed and let the two kids sleep in our yard! People will poke you in the back if you do that!"
"Also, I'm not afraid that you'll leave Zhendong and Zhenbei here and not take them back, but Huang Ling is different from me. You haven't forgotten what she did when Dad beat Tunan last time!"
Of course, Zhuang's mother would not forget.
"Just two days."
"Not even for a day."
Zhuang's mother was so angry that she stood up and was about to leave, meaning that the person would stay.
Zhu Xiuyu sneered:
"Mom, I'm not well-educated and I'm stubborn. I only listen to my husband. If you want to keep her, I'll send her back even if it's the middle of the night. If you don't open the door, I'll knock all night. I'm not afraid."
Zhuang's mother suddenly turned her head to look at her, unable to utter a word.
"To be honest, Chaoying and I have heard about this. I actually think you are to blame."
"What...what?"
"Chao Ying said that his third brother asked him for money to see a doctor before Lin Fang got pregnant. He didn't tell you because he was afraid you would worry. At that time, Lin Fang still couldn't get pregnant, and you were so disgusted. She got angry after being scolded, so you can't really blame her for what she did."
Zhuang's mother felt like the sky had fallen.
She stood by the door, neither moving nor speaking for a long time, trying hard to recall the past.
After a while, she walked out and took Zhendong and Zhenbei back.
Pengfei stood motionless in the dark. He was not doing his homework seriously. When he saw Zhendong and Zhenbei from the window, he ran out. Unexpectedly, he heard the conversation between Aunt Zhu and grandma.
Besides being shocked, I was also a little worried.
If there is any disturbance in the banker's business, he may become homeless. Because of this, his mother would not let him go home during the winter vacation or the summer vacation.
Rather than whether he could get into No. 1 Middle School, he was more worried about whether he could stay in Suzhou.
After moving to this rented house with his uncle, he began to think about his future like an adult.
He spent his winter and summer vacations traveling all over Suzhou, writing down all the places where he could do odd jobs.
He has to study, but if he really fails to get into high school and can't continue his studies, he can still do odd jobs to support himself and not rely on his uncle and others.
He also learned how to make braised pork with preserved vegetables and steamed buns from Zhu Xiu Yu. He thought his skills were pretty good and if things didn't work out, he might as well set up a food stall.
"Where is Pengfei?" Zhu Xiu Yu asked in the house.
"He just said he was going to the toilet. I guess he went out to play in the yard." Zhao Hongbin replied.
When Zhu Xiuyu walked out of the yard, she saw Pengfei rolling stones under the tree.
"Pengfei, I'm tired of studying."
"Aunt Zhu, I just came out to get some fresh air."
"You have to seize the nights when your uncle is not at home! Otherwise, your uncle will not feel at ease in the hospital." Zhu Xiu Yu said worriedly.
"Okay, I got it. I'll go back now!" Pengfei laughed.
The two returned home.
The next morning, Zhuang Chaoying went home to take a shower, change clothes and go to work.
Zhu Xiu Yu was busy serving.
He works during the day and takes care of Zhuang's father at night, which is very hard.
There is a huge difference in taking care of this person when he can move and when he can't, which makes him complain bitterly.
Zhu Xiuyu said timidly: "Why don't I take your place for a day?"
Zhuang Chaoying waved his hand: "Forget it, don't cause any more trouble. You still have to take care of the three of them. They are all graduating classes. This is the most critical time."
"Don't worry! I will take good care of the child." Zhu Xiu Yu promised.
"Dad, don't worry!" Tuanan and Pengfei, who were getting ready to go to school, also responded.
"Dad, Pengfei and I have discussed it. We will take your place on Saturday night so you can have a rest. On Sunday, we will take your place on Sunday so she can have a day off as well. We will come back on Sunday night with our books and homework so we won't have to delay our studies." Tuanan suggested.
"No, no, that won't work. There's no way you can do that." Zhuang Chaoying quickly refused.
"Uncle, it's okay. If we don't go, others will criticize us. We can learn."
Zhuang Chaoying thought about it and finally nodded:
"That's fine! I have a meeting on Saturday afternoon, and I don't know what time it ends yet. I'm worried I won't be able to take over your grandmother's shift. You don't have to take care of her all day on Sunday. I'll go over in the morning to handle the discharge procedures."
Zhu Xiuyu asked: "Can I be discharged from the hospital now?"
Zhuang Chaoying picked up the briefcase and said, "Yes, the doctor said to go home and rest, and do some rehabilitation at home. The best situation is to be able to walk on your own, otherwise, you may have to lie down like this forever."
Everyone in the room sighed deeply.
The hard days are yet to come.
But we still have to get through the difficult times, and everyone has to act separately, some go to work, some go to school.
On Saturday night, Zhuang Chaoying was in a meeting until after seven o'clock. When he rushed to the hospital, he saw that the two half-grown children had taken over.
He planned to stay, as it would be much more comfortable to have the children take over and lend a hand.
It was not until after nine o'clock that the children urged him to go home.
