Chapter 210 It’s Right to Listen to Mom
After the two of them had their meal, they really helped to load the goods for another hour, and only stopped when they were too tired to move.
As a reward, Huang Ling gave Xie Zheyu a shirt that boys can wear.
Tunan and Pengfei returned home in the afternoon.
Zhuang Chaoying was somewhat dissatisfied:
"The final exams are just over a month away, so you guys better focus on studying. Look, Hongbin spent most of the day studying after going out to play."
Pengfei and Tunan looked at each other, and Tunan signaled Pengfei not to speak.
Tunan said to Zhuang Chaoying, "Dad, I understand. Let's go study now."
The two returned to their room, closed the door, opened their books and began to study.
Pengfei looked at Tuanan and said nothing more.
Zhu Xiuyu pulled Zhuang Chaoying into the yard and whispered, "The child is going to see his mother. If his mother finds out about you saying this to him, she'll think you don't want him to see her."
Zhuang Chaoying frowned and said, "I didn't mean that. She also knew that Tu Nan was already in the graduating class. Time is running out!"
"Oh, don't worry about it being a day or two, Tuanan has good grades..." Zhu Xiu Yu advised again.
"What do you know! Once you relax, it's hard to concentrate again."
"Okay, okay, don't be angry." Zhu Xiu Yu softened. She seemed to want to say something but stopped herself, and finally swallowed her words.
Zhuang Chaoying went back to his room to read, while Zhu Xiuyu went into the kitchen and sat under the stove.
It wasn't until Hongbin came in to look for her and saw that there was no heat in the stove that he reminded her: "Mom, you haven't started cooking yet."
"Oh, cooking, cooking." Zhu Xiu Yu finally came back to her senses.
"Mom, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?" Hong Bin asked worriedly when he saw Zhu Xiu Yu's dazed look.
"Oh, it's okay. I didn't sleep well last night." Zhu Xiu Yu shook her head and started to make a fire and cook.
Hongbin was a little worried and wanted to help, but Zhu Xiuyu tried to stop him.
Pengfei happened to be in the kitchen pouring hot water into the thermos in the room. He overheard the conversation between the two and came forward to show concern:
"Aunt, if you're not feeling well, I'll cook! Just some simple noodles. Hongbin, go read a book and don't worry about it."
"It's okay, Pengfei. I'm not feeling unwell, I just didn't sleep well. You all go and do your own things. I'll call you when dinner is ready." Zhu Xiu Yu drove both of them out of the room.
It was a little late, so she followed Pengfei's advice, simply cooked some noodles, and made a bowl of scrambled eggs with tomatoes as the topping.
Apart from anything else, this family is good at serving food. They will eat whatever you cook and never complain.
By the time we had dinner, she looked back to normal.
In the evening, Tunan and Pengfei brought hot water to the bathroom to take a shower. Seeing that no one else was around, Pengfei asked:
"Brother, when did you tell your uncle that Aunt Huang wanted you to move in?"
"I saw he was angry just now, so I didn't say anything. Let's talk about it in a couple of days. Anyway, Mom said I should think about it myself. She was just suggesting it. I'll think about it again."
After dinner today, Huang Ling and Tuanan chatted alone for a while.
Every once in a while, Huang Ling would chat with the children one by one, learn about their recent situation through conversation, and use her keen observation to perceive changes in the children's minds.
It was a common occurrence, so Tunan didn't take it seriously.
Although the No. 1 Middle School they attend is a key middle school, the school has a free spirit. There are various poetry societies, literary societies, and various literature-related seminars and lectures in the school.
These new books and new knowledge made boys and girls, including Tunan, extremely eager. They kept exploring and pursuing a new world of their own.
As a high school teacher, Zhuang Chaoying naturally learned about these situations earlier than other parents, so Zhuang Chaoying asked Tuanan to quit the newspaper on the grounds that there were only two years of time in high school.
However, although Tunan was sensible, he also had a little rebelliousness in his heart. He obediently quit the newspaper, but did not stop pursuing new types of literature.
He used his New Year's money to buy a high-end notebook, in which he copied famous quotes and passages, and poems by new-age poets. He also wrote some new-style poems and essays to express his emotions.
Tuanan did not hide these from his mother. He was even willing to share his confusion, bewilderment, and doubts and thoughts about some things with Huang Ling.
He always gets some inspiration from his mother.
These were things he could never share with his old-fashioned father.
At the end of the conversation, Huang Ling suggested that Tunan move in with her for his final semester so he could focus on preparing for the college entrance exam. If he was willing, they could move in a little over a month before the New Year.
It is not surprising that Huang Ling made such a suggestion. When the room was allocated, Huang Ling told him about this. She said at the time that if living with Pengfei affected his studies, he could come and live with her during the final sprint.
Tunan had his own considerations. He was afraid of what Pengfei might think, so he told Pengfei about it on the way back. He said that whether he lived there or not was none of Pengfei's business, and Pengfei had no influence on him.
What he was worried about was what his father and Aunt Zhu would think.
But Pengfei felt as if he had suddenly realized something.
Only then did he understand why Huang Ling agreed to let Brother Tuanan live in the same house with him.
Huang Ling had already decided to take Tuanan to live with her and accompany him to study and get into university. After all, her experience was richer and more effective than Zhuang Chaoying's, and she had produced many more prestigious university students than Zhuang Chaoying.
If she had fought for a room for Tunan from the beginning, she believed that Zhuang Chaoying and Zhu Xiuyu would not have any objections and would have given Tunan a smaller room.
But once she takes Tunan away during this period, Tunan's room will be empty. Zhu Xiuyu will definitely let Pengfei move to Tunan's room on the grounds that Hongbin is in the graduating class, and then Hongbin will have the big room all to himself.
Pengfei will definitely leave Zhuang Chaoying's house eventually, but by then, it will not be easy to ask Hongbin to move rooms, so Tunan will have to live in that small room where he can only turn around.
Now that Tuanan has moved to Huang Ling's place, Pengfei has the big room all to himself, and it is difficult to transfer Zhu Xiuyu.
After Pengfei left, the room was returned to Tunan. Regardless of whether Tunan lived there or not, Zhu Xiuyu had no reason to exchange their rooms, because she had said at the time that as long as there was one room for Hongbin, it would be enough. If you wanted to fight for a bigger room, then you were wrong.
"Well, brother, no matter where you live, I think you can get into the best university! Do you want to go to Beijing or Shanghai?"
The reason why Pengfei asked this question was that during lunch, Xie Zheyu talked about universities in Beijing. He had a relative who was admitted to a university in Beijing, and Huang Ling chatted with him for a long time.
"Anyway, I want to study architecture. I haven't decided yet whether to go to Beijing or Shanghai. I need to get my parents' opinions."
"Well, I think you're right to listen to Aunt Huang. She knows a lot." Pengfei replied.
Regardless of whether Pengfei was really giving him a hint, Tunan took it to heart.
Yes, it’s right to listen to your mother.
He planned to talk to Zhuang Chaoying about this matter in a couple of days, and he decided to live with Huang Ling.
