Chapter 412: The Hualin Couple is Back 2
When Zhuang Hualin and his wife returned to Suzhou, Pengfei was the happiest one.
When Zhu Xiu Yu told him about this, his eyes turned red.
Zhu Xiuyu hurriedly handed him the handkerchief, and Pengfei immediately said:
"Aunt, I'm not crying because I think you're not good to me. You're very good to me. I'm not crying because I hope that in the future..."
"I know, Pengfei, you are happy that you can finally live with your parents." Zhu Xiu Yu certainly knew what he meant.
Pengfei nodded heavily, wiping his tears while saying:
"Aunt, after my parents get here, I'll still pick you up and take you home every day after class. I'm worried about you being alone. Leave all the heavy work around the house to me, don't do anything. I'll do everything, including mopping the yard, cleaning the gutters out back, and buying coal briquettes every month."
Zhu Xiuyu looked at Pengfei with satisfaction, and he smiled and said:
"Well, your mother works very hard at a private clinic and has to work shifts. I heard your father has a back injury and he definitely can't do these things. I can't be home all day either, so there are some things around the house that you still have to do."
"Hmm," Pengfei said, then understood. "You mean, my parents live with us?"
Zhu Xiuyu nodded:
"Originally, your Aunt Huang suggested that they live in the garment factory dormitory. She has a spare room there, but it's hard to decide. There's not enough room there, and it's far from school. If I live here, I'm worried you'll miss your parents. So I thought, don't we have a spare room at home for them to stay in?"
Pengfei looked at Zhu Xiuyu in a daze.
Zhu Xiuyu continued, "Wait until you go to college and they have stable jobs. Then you can find a house and live together as a family of three."
Pengfei couldn't hold it in any longer and bit his lips hard to stop himself from crying out loud, but the tears kept flowing.
"Why are you crying? Your eyes will be swollen tomorrow and people will think I wronged you! Go wash your face!"
Pengfei nodded, ran to the bathroom and burst into tears. He cried twice and then stopped. Afraid that others would hear him, he could only pour cold water on his face over and over again.
When he came back, I found out that in order not to affect his studies, this matter was not told to him until it was completely settled and his parents had bought the train tickets.
I’m afraid that he will keep looking forward to it, keep waiting, and keep worrying.
So, the two are coming next week.
Pengfei was ecstatic.
He began to prepare for his parents' arrival, cleaning the house inside and out, changing the sheets and quilts, and preparing toiletries and daily necessities.
A week later on Sunday, Pengfei picked up the two of them from the train station. They only brought a few bags with them.
They followed Huang Ling's advice and sold all the things in the house that could be sold for cash. The rest that could not be sold were given away. They rented the house to Xiangdong's colleagues who did not get a house. The rent was collected once a year. Although it was not much, it was still an income.
Zhu Xiuyu is at work and not at home.
Pengfei said, "Originally, my aunt didn't want to move and wanted to give the big room to you guys, but I insisted that she sleep in the big room. It took me a long time to persuade her to agree."
This should have been the case, but Zhu Xiu Yu did not mention it. Peng Fei sensibly mentioned it and insisted on doing so, so Zhu Xiu Yu agreed.
"That's how it should be. Pengfei, you did the right thing." Zhuang Hualin looked at his sensible son with approval.
"Hongbin's bed was originally a little bigger than a single bed. He's tall, so the bed was made bigger. But I was worried that you two would be crowded, so I asked Uncle Ma from the lumberyard to make a solid wooden frame, like a bench, and put it against the wall to widen the bed."
Pengfei gestured and then lifted the mattress to show his masterpiece:
"I put an extra mattress under the bed. I couldn't feel it, but I was afraid it wouldn't be level, so I measured it very carefully. Luckily, Brother Tunan left a good ruler at home."
He made the bed as wide as possible without obstructing access to the kitchen.
"Very good, Pengfei, you are so thoughtful. You have really grown up." Xiangdong was very moved when he saw that the room was warm and comfortable and had everything he needed.
The three of them put away the things they brought one by one.
Pengfei told his parents that the welcoming banquet would still be held at Suihua Building. He asked them to take a shower and change clothes before going to Suihua Building:
"Mom and Dad, Aunt Huang told you to pack up before going over. She also invited the boss of the place where you work to dinner tonight and wanted to introduce you to each other."
The two understood, packed up their things, and went to Suihua Tower with Pengfei.
Huang Ling invited Dr. Liu, the owner of "Liu Changqing Clinic", and his family, as well as the Lin family, to come for dinner.
Zhuang Hualin was arranged to work as a nurse in the clinic. Dr. Liu and his wife were both doctors who had retired from the hospital and were in need of help.
Most skilled doctors are unwilling to come to private clinics, and those who can be hired know nothing about the procedure, making it difficult to teach them from scratch. Zhuang Hualin's arrival solved Dr. Liu's urgent need.
Xiangdong used to work in railway maintenance, but now he works in a parts factory. Some basic processing and assembly work is not difficult for him.
Xiangdong was a little nervous when he saw Lin Wufeng, but Zhuang Hualin was more generous than him. She asked Liu Changqing: "Doctor Liu is from a family of traditional Chinese medicine?"
"Oh, how do you know?" Doctor Liu smiled and waited for Zhuang Hualin's answer.
Zhuang Hualin replied, "The 'Changqing' in your name comes from the Chinese herbal medicine 'Xu Changqing', so I think your family must be a noble family."
"Yes, Xiaozhuang, my family has been practicing traditional Chinese medicine for generations, and I combine Chinese and Western medicine here. It turns out that today's medical schools also have courses related to traditional Chinese medicine!" Doctor Liu replied.
"Yes." Zhuang Hualin replied.
Everyone was having a great time chatting at the table.
After dinner, everyone prepared to go back. Huang Ling saw off the others and left last.
Xiangdong and Zhuang Hualin were very grateful to her and thanked her over and over again.
"Alright, you're welcome. I feel relieved knowing Pengfei has someone to look after you. But there's just one thing: Hualin, you have to promise me."
Zhuang Hualin looked up and listened carefully.
"Don't talk about Pengfei all the time. As long as it's not a matter of principle, you have to endure it, whether you like it or not, just like Sister Yu, understand?"
"I understand. I can manage it." Zhuang Hualin nodded quickly.
"The child's emotions are very important. Praise me as soon as you open your mouth, praise me hard! Don't let your coming have a counterproductive effect, otherwise I will be a sinner." Huang Ling explained again.
"We understand." The two felt that what she said made sense and agreed.
Pengfei had two more people to worry about, so he kept looking back and searching. Just then, Huang Ling looked over and saw Zhuang Hualin and Xiangdong laughing at Pengfei.
"Yes, that's it." Huang Ling also smiled.
Dongzhe nudged Pengfei and said, "Your parents should be able to control you for a week or so without scolding you."
Pengfei asked in confusion: "Why?"
"Because my aunt told them to." Dongzhe said firmly.
"How do you know?" Pengfei became even more confused.
"Because whenever my mother nags me, my aunt would talk about my mother. Then, during those few days, whenever my mother saw me, she would smile like my aunt or uncle. It was a fake smile, but it would last for several days." Dongzhe leaned close to Pengfei's ear to explain.
"Aunt Song, where is Aunt Song? Lin Dongzhe said you had a fake smile!" Pengfei put his hands to his mouth in a trumpet shape and shouted.
"Xiang Pengfei! You actually betrayed me? Take my punch!" Dongzhe jumped up and hit him.
"Hey!" Pengfei leaped out.
The two began fighting in the yard.
"Be careful not to bump into the guests!" Xiaoting reminded with a smile.
The two of them tacitly walked sideways to the tree like crabs and continued fighting.
The family of three waited for Zhu Xiu Yu to get off work and then went home together.
When he got home, Pengfei took out some pieces of letter paper at Zhuang Hualin's instruction.
