Chapter 527: Room 3
When Song Ying returned home in the evening, she took a look at the gate of the yard. The inside had been cleaned up and there was a new lock on the iron gate. She knew that Jiang Manye had officially taken back the house.
When she walked back to her yard and opened the door, she saw a note stuck in the crack of the door, so she opened it carefully to read it.
It turned out that it was written to her by Zhang A-mei.
Zhang A'mei asked Song Ying and Grandpa Li to tell them that if they received a call from Zhang Min, Grandpa Li should tell Zhang Min his new address.
There was also a new address written on the note.
Song Ying called Huang Ling, Lin Wufeng and Li Yiming separately to tell them the situation.
Li Yiming went to pick up his family.
Lin Dongzhe will learn chess with Zhou Huaiyi in the evening and go home tomorrow morning.
After Grandpa Li returned home, Song Ying gave Grandpa Li the note Zhang Min left for her and told him about Zhang A'mei's request.
Grandpa Li sighed and said, "She's still thinking about that heartless daughter of hers! She's been asked for money to answer the phone. Now that the family has lost their main breadwinner, Zhang Min won't be coming back."
Song Ying nodded: "All we can do is convey their new address. As for how they live, it's up to them! Anyway, they have nothing to do with us anymore."
"Well, this is our house! It will be much more comfortable from now on!"
Hearing this, Song Ying stood at the entrance of the alley and looked inside. The alley seemed old and new at the same time.
The two were talking about this when Grandpa Li suddenly stopped talking. Song Ying turned around and saw that it was Jiang Manye and Fan Shilei who had returned.
Jiang Manye was riding a tricycle, and Fan Shilei was pushing it from behind. The tricycle was loaded with the luggage that had been packed in the past few days.
Song Ying hurried forward and asked with concern:
"Have you cleaned the house? Are you moving in now?"
"Deputy Director Song, we took back the house early this morning. I packed and cleaned it during the day. The room over there is really uninhabitable. I can even hear the snoring next door. Let's move some of the packed things over first, and we can take the other things later. There's no rush." Jiang Manye replied.
"Oh, I was just thinking of helping you! You're so quick and nimble."
Jiang Manye waved her hand: "How can I trouble you? I have plenty of energy. Thank you very much!"
"Don't be so polite. Just call me Sister Ying from now on. Ask me for anything you need."
"Okay, Sister Ying!"
Song Ying walked them two steps and didn't go any further. Since the house had been cleaned up, she didn't want to disturb the couple.
Fan Shilei looked at his new home and was filled with emotion.
Jiang Manye led him around the house and asked, "Shitou, if you were alone at home, would you be afraid?"
Fan Shilei shook his head: "I'm not afraid, are you afraid?"
"I'm not afraid! When I was five or six years old, I made a bet with someone for food and slept on a grave for a night." Jiang Manye said nonchalantly.
"That's good. I'm not afraid either."
The two of them had already eaten the food from the cafeteria, and now they just had to make their bed and rest.
So one of them made the bed while the other put away the things they brought, while they chatted in low voices.
Suddenly, Jiang Manye laughed out loud.
Fan Shilei looked at her in a daze.
"Shitou, we don't have to lower our voices now. We can talk normally. In such a big house, even if we're arguing, the neighbors would have to prick up their ears to hear a word."
Fan Shilei recalled that the two of them were still talking cautiously as if they were in a single dormitory, and he also laughed.
"Go take a shower and go to bed to rest. We agreed to clean up together after I get off work, but you actually cleaned such a big house by yourself! I'm a little angry." Fan Shilei said in surprise.
"It's okay, not tiring at all. It's about the same as a day selling pork."
Jiang Manye's eyes and eyebrows were all smiling. She was really happy today. She suddenly leaned on the shoulder of Fan Shilei who was tidying up the cabinets:
"Shitou, we have a home now."
Fan Shilei rubbed his cheek against her forehead and said, "You've always had a home! It's just that your home is bigger now."
-------
A month later.
No. 57, Lane 3, Mianjiu Street.
Zhang A'mei didn't find a job in the silk reeling factory, so she found a job as a dishwasher and didn't return home until after nine o'clock.
She turned on the light, picked up the enamel pot and took a few big gulps of cold water. When she saw that the fire in the coal stove had gone out, she went out to get a coal to start a fire so that she could boil some hot water for a bath.
As soon as I went out, I heard my neighbor Sister Yu talking to someone in front of the house.
Zhang A-mei glanced at the woman's back. She was tall, with short, slightly curly hair, and was wearing a high-end dark blue windbreaker.
Zhang A-mei curled her lips and thought to herself, "How could Sister Yu, a retired ordinary worker, recognize such a respectable person?"
Just as I was thinking about it, I heard Sister Yu say:
"Xiuyu! I really don't know how to thank you! You even came all the way from Shanghai... I..."
"Sister, our Hongbin grew up eating your food. I must remember this favor! Besides, I used to come back often. I couldn't leave during the day, so I bought a ticket for the evening train. I originally wanted to come early tomorrow morning, but I was afraid you would worry, so I came at night."
Zhu Xiu Yu held Sister Yu's hand and explained.
"Thank you so much, thank you so much, you are so thoughtful." Sister Yu wiped her tears.
She has been feeling unwell recently and is taking a medicine that is only available in large hospitals in Shanghai. However, her son works in another city and her husband passed away last year. She has never left Suzhou alone and is getting anxious. She thinks of Zhu Xiu Yu.
Zhu Xiuyu originally lived in this small courtyard with Hongbin, and had been neighbors with Sister Yu for many years.
When Zhu Xiuyu works overtime or has something to do, Sister Yu often helps take care of Hongbin.
Later, Zhu Xiu Yu got married and moved away. Although the two did not visit each other often, they would see each other two or three times a year. She also knew that Zhu Xiu Yu basically stayed in Shanghai now, so Sister Yu went to Suihualou.
When Sui Hualou heard that it was an urgent matter of medicine, he quickly helped to call Zhu Xiu Yu in Shanghai. Zhu Xiu Yu bought the medicine for Sister Yu and delivered it without saying a word after receiving the call.
"Hurry, come in!" Sister Yu wanted to pull Zhu Xiu Yu into the house.
Zhu Xiuyu waved her hand: "No, take the medicine and go to bed early. I wrote the instructions on a large piece of paper and put it in the medicine box. I'm afraid you can't read the instructions clearly."
"Okay, I understand."
"I'll remember the time and buy it for you regularly. Even if I don't go back to Suzhou, I'll arrange for someone to deliver it to you. Don't worry. If you need help with anything, just go to Suihualou and I'll tell them."
Sister Yu held Zhu Xiu Yu's hand tightly and started crying.
While listening to the two people talking, Zhang A'mei went to the place where the coal briquettes were placed. She kicked a broken brick without paying attention and fell forward, almost falling.
The noise attracted the attention of the two people, and Zhu Xiu Yu turned around to look.
Sister Yu wiped her tears and introduced:
"After the Liu family moved out, a family surnamed Ma took over. They had a large family, so the factory gave the small room you used to live in to the Ma family. When the Ma family saw that there was a separate stove in the room, they wanted to make some money, so they rented it out.
Actually, it's not worth much to rent. The house isn't as well maintained as it was when you were here, so it's getting worse and worse, and no one lives there long-term. She just moved in last month, her last name is Zhang."
Zhang A'mei took the coal briquettes, lowered her head and walked into the house, closing the door heavily.
Zhu Xiuyu had actually recognized her, so she turned around and patted Sister Yu's hand and said:
"If you're not a long-term resident, it's better not to have any interactions."
Sister Yu was also a smart person. She seemed to understand what Zhu Xiuyu said and replied:
"I see."
She put on her clothes and walked Zhu Xiu Yu to the gate of the yard.
