Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Chapter Summary: "The clothes are nice, the color is good too, what do you think?"

Everyone continued to chuckle.

Su Wenjin could only gesture with her eyes to her secretary, and solemnly said, "Undergraduate from U University, Master of Statistics, 'Trust Power' overall rating A+."

"Xinlishi" is the management trainee program of Xinda Group. Because of its fast promotion, the entry threshold is very high, and the number of recruits only accounts for 10% of the annual campus recruits.

Being selected for the management trainee program is already an achievement, but the secretary not only got selected but also stood out from the highly competitive "Xinlishi" team, so her strength should not be underestimated.

Sure enough, after hearing this, everyone showed the secretary more respect, and some even became interested in her undergraduate university.

"University of Science and Technology?" The man pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "Doesn't that mean he's an alumnus of Mr. Xu's university?"

Su Wenjin was startled, seemingly quite surprised, and then belatedly sighed, "It really is true, I didn't even notice until you mentioned it."

"That's quite a coincidence."

Another person smiled and complimented, "President Su really knows how to choose people."

After chatting for a few more minutes, footsteps suddenly sounded; it was Xu Tianzhou.

Everyone immediately stood up and said in unison, "Good morning, Mr. Xu."

Xu Tianzhou nodded slightly and said, "Sit down."

Xu Tianzhou has always attached great importance to executive meetings. He does not directly participate in the company's operations, and executive meetings are his only channel for understanding the company.

It was already strange that Xu Tianzhou was late for the meeting today. What was even stranger was that although he was there, his mind seemed to be elsewhere. He was constantly on his phone replying to messages, and his expression was very serious.

Su Wenjin couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"

"No."

Xu Tianzhou didn't even look up; his eyes remained fixed on his phone.

It's really not a big deal, especially for those of you here; it's not even worth mentioning.

A new employee has joined the rice noodle shop.

The catering industry has a high turnover rate, and it's common for new people to come. However, this person is special because he is none other than the old lady's son.

After returning from the old lady's house that day, the two of them were quite sad for a while, but it only lasted that night. The next day, it was like going through a downpour; once their clothes dried, it was over.

Neither of them mentioned it again.

Xu Tianzhou was quite pleased with himself for a while, pleased with his discerning eye. Others might be fooled by Ni Zhenzhen, but he wouldn't; he had seen through Ni Zhenzhen's hypocrisy and pretense long ago.

Sympathy is the cheapest thing; some people have even forgotten how to have sympathy.

Xu Tianzhou made a point of mentioning it last night, "It would be great if the old lady's son had a job." That way, he could recover from his burns and get his life back on track, and the old lady wouldn't have to suffer so much.

Ni Zhenzhen turned her head.

She had just finished answering a question on the computer. The bank has a monthly exam, 100 multiple-choice questions, with a passing score of 80. Those who fail are placed on leave for further training.

She had just clicked submit and hadn't even had a chance to look at the score when she looked at Xu Tianzhou with astonished eyes and asked, "What did you say?"

Xu Tianzhou patiently repeated, "I said, it would be great if the old lady's son had a job."

Ni Zhenzhen looked away.

The computer screen displayed 96 points, indicating that she had passed the monthly exam, but she did not show any joy at all.

Xu Tianzhou was not surprised at all.

He interpreted her silence as guilt, which, like her sympathy, came and went quickly.

Xu Tianzhou was about to laugh at her in his heart when Ni Zhenzhen sighed and said dejectedly, "I've already tried."

Xu Tianzhou was greatly surprised.

He was wrong. A sense of defeat gripped his throat; for a moment, he even felt he couldn't breathe.

It was indeed the Ni Zhenzhen he knew.

It turned out that Ni Zhenzhen hadn't been idle these past few days. She tried every job she saw on the street—waitress, delivery driver, courier—but without exception, as soon as they heard about his situation, they rejected him without a second thought. Luckily, she hadn't been so reckless as to let the old lady's son try, otherwise it would have been another setback.

Ni Zhenzhen looked at him again, hesitating to speak, "So I think..."

"What are you thinking about?" Xu Tianzhou raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent, yet tinged with coldness and ruthlessness.

He had already guessed it.

Xu Tianzhou was about to get angry, but then he thought it might be a good thing. He smiled and said, "I do have a solution."

"What?"

"Let him work at the rice noodle shop." As soon as he said this, Xu Tianzhou felt a sense of relief, as if he had announced a victory in a war.

He could imagine Ni Zhenzhen's reaction—a sense of relief or elation—but she didn't. She said, "I don't want to put you in a difficult position."

“It’s not difficult at all. I ate Grandma’s dumplings.” Xu Tianzhou opened the book on the bedside table and used a photo of Ni Zhenzhen as a bookmark. He found a comfortable position and said casually, “Why don’t you ask him if he’s willing?”

The result, of course, is that we are very willing.

This morning, Xu Tianzhou brought the old lady's son to the rice noodle shop.

He showed him around the area, settled him in the kitchen, and even found someone to take care of him.

"You don't need to do anything today, just watch."

Before leaving, Xu Tianzhou reminded him not to go out, but thankfully, he didn't say the rest of the sentence aloud.

This matter is not as simple as it seems. He sent messages to the store's employees, and after explaining it once, he felt that something was missing. He continued to send messages one by one until now.

Seeing that he was preoccupied and kept holding his phone, those around him didn't dare to disturb him.

Having given the instructions, Xu Tianzhou held his phone in his hand, meditated for a moment, then exhaled before placing it on the table. Looking up, he noticed everyone was watching him. Xu Tianzhou quickly bowed slightly and apologized, "Let's begin."

Before it officially began, the secretary brought over a document.

The secretary wore a pale yellow dress with three layers of pleats at the waist, which made her look even more alluring and graceful.

Su Wenjin said, "The clothes are nice, and the color is good too."

The secretary found it strange and almost thought time had reversed. Su Wenjin had just praised him, so why was he doing it again?

The secretary turned to look at her, but Su Wenjin seemed to have lost her memory, looking back at her with complete composure.

She couldn't understand why, and as she bent over, her long hair slipped down to her chest, releasing a subtle fragrance.

It smells like roses.

You can deliberately avoid looking at a person, but you can't refuse a person's fragrance by refusing to breathe.

Amidst that dreamlike atmosphere, Su Wenjin turned to Xu Tianzhou and asked for his opinion, "What do you think?"

"Yes." Xu Tianzhou nodded. "It's good."

Su Wenjin was greatly encouraged.

He is a man, so he understands men better; Xu Tianzhou is unlikely to be an exception.

Just as Su Wenjin was about to say something, Xu Tianzhou put the documents on the table and said in a deep voice, "Let's do it this way."

He held out his hand, and his secretary immediately handed him a pen. Xu Tianzhou then signed his name in the blank space.

The long-delayed matter finally made substantial progress, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. However, Su Wenjin did not show the relief he should have. He quickly realized that when Xu Tianzhou said "pretty good," he meant that things were done pretty well, not the "pretty good" he had in mind.

Su Wenjin was somewhat discouraged.

He was unwilling to give up, but it was not an easy situation to bring it up again.

During the meeting, Su Wenjin pretended to be nonchalant, but in reality, she was secretly looking for an opportunity. However, no matter how eye-catching the secretary's outfit was among the group of people dressed in black, white, and gray, Xu Tianzhou's gaze never lingered on her for a moment.

After the meeting ended, Xu Tianzhou went back to the rice noodle shop without even eating, and Su Wenjin's last hope was dashed.

If we miss this opportunity, who knows when the next one will come?

Unexpectedly, the opportunity came soon.

That morning, Ni Zhenzhen arrived at the branch on time. At the morning meeting, the branch manager announced that the long-awaited company-wide marketing initiative had finally been implemented.

In the past, we did require them to issue cards and attract deposits, but it was not mandatory and was not used as a performance indicator.

Things are different now. "Those who fail to complete their tasks will be placed on standby for further training and will only receive their basic salary."

The basic salary at the bank isn't even enough to cover rent. Isn't this just a way to force people to quit their jobs?

The atmosphere became awkward. Although no one complained, their facial expressions said it all.

Seeing that morale was dropping, the branch manager tried to cheer everyone up. He deliberately raised his voice and said in a passionate tone, "Colleagues, this is an opportunity! What's the use of just holding onto that meager salary? Now we're not only giving you a chance to make big money, but those with outstanding performance can even be promoted to account manager."

The mention of a job transfer finally lifted everyone's spirits, and Qian Lina was especially invigorated and eager to try. She was truly fed up with the teller position and would do anything to get a transfer.

The director continued, "Come on, let's cheer ourselves on!"

here we go again!

Everyone was groaning inwardly.

The director shouted "Good!" and everyone applauded.

The director shouted "Very good" again, and everyone applauded twice.

The director shouted "Very good!" and everyone applauded three times before starting to chant slogans.

At times like this, Qian Lina would wonder if she had mistakenly joined a pyramid scheme.

But that wasn't all. The director said that the tasks assigned from above were only the bare minimum. "We need to set higher standards for ourselves. We can't let our fellow branches look down on us, can we?"

Qian Lina thought to herself, "Is she afraid of being looked down upon? After all, she's getting on in years and is still just a branch manager. If she can't get promoted, her life will probably stay the same."

The director then said some encouraging words and asked everyone to state their goals for the month.

"Xiao Rong, you go first."

“Director…” Rong Xiaodan looked troubled.

The director looked at her encouragingly, "It's okay."

Rong Xiaodan had no choice but to give a number, and the director's eyes immediately lit up, while Qian Lina turned pale with fright.

This Rong Xiaodan always talks nonsense. Anyway, the director knows she doesn't have the ability, so he doesn't care if she messes things up. But what about the others?

The director then turned to Qian Lina and asked her to give a number, the expectation in his eyes making her feel extremely uneasy.

Qian Lina had no choice; could she possibly be inferior to Rong Xiaodan?

After she announced her goal, Ni Zhenzhen also gave a similar number to the two of them.

After everyone had finished speaking, Rong Xiaodan said with a mournful face, "Director, please don't blame us if we can't finish."

The director chuckled and said, "It's alright, it's only the first month. If we don't finish, there's always next month."

These words only fueled their despair.
