Chapter summary: "It's definitely not a good thing."
The conversation didn't last long. After hanging up, Ni Zhenzhen turned to Xu Tianzhou, who was driving, as if she had something to say.
The car was very soundproof; Ni Zhenzhen could almost hear her own heartbeat.
She knew very well that Xu Tianzhou would not agree to this after he found out. Perhaps the best way was to keep it from him and not let him know, but that would not only hurt Xu Tianzhou, but also her.
Ni Zhenzhen mustered her courage and asked, "Guess whose phone call that was just now?"
Xu Tianzhou focused on driving, seemingly expecting this, and said in an extremely indifferent tone, "I won't guess."

Xu Tianzhou refused without even thinking, "Then forget it, he didn't invite me."

Halfway there, Xu Tianzhou realized he was almost out of gas. He drove off the main road at the nearest exit and said, "Let's go fill up the tank."
It's unclear if something went wrong, but Xu Tianzhou didn't return until very late. He started the car while complaining about the long line when he went to pay.
It was a Cantonese restaurant located across from a villa area, which had recently gained fame after being recommended by a well-known magazine.
Xu Tianzhou parked the car, looked ahead, and said, "Go."
After getting out of the car, Ni Zhenzhen didn't forget to look back. Xu Tianzhou, who had just been looking ahead, suddenly turned his head, and Ni Zhenzhen was caught off guard and met his hesitant gaze.
In the distance, thousands of lights twinkle, each one like a bright star illuminating the way home.
Although Xu Tianzhou didn't say anything, Ni Zhenzhen seemed to have heard him. She tucked her hair behind her ear, smiled, and said, "I know." Then she added, "Don't worry."
Xu Tianzhou didn't say another word. He closed the car window and drove away.
Ni Zhenzhen took the elevator up. In front of the Cantonese restaurant, there was a small bridge and a stream, decorated in an extremely elegant manner. As she walked across the bridge, the koi in the pond immediately gathered around and then gradually dispersed.
Ni Zhenzhen gave the hostess Zhang Wang's name, and the hostess led her inside.
"This is it."
Just as Ni Zhenzhen was about to push open the door, a man in a suit with his hair up, who looked like a supervisor, asked, "Are you a friend of General Manager Zhang?" Before Ni Zhenzhen could answer, the man said very politely, "You've moved to this side."

Ni Zhenzhen withdrew her hand and followed the man to the next private room.
Two men and a woman were sitting in the next private room. When they saw her, they all stood up. One of them said, "You must be the bank friend that Mr. Zhang mentioned. Mr. Zhang is going out to take a call and will be back in a bit."
Ni Zhenzhen quickly replied, "Yes, my name is Ni Zhenzhen."
The others also greeted him warmly, "Manager Ni, hello, hello."
Ni Zhenzhen didn't say she wasn't a manager; it was just a title, and she really didn't need to make a fuss about it. What truly surprised her was that the woman in the suit also sat down. It turned out she wasn't a waitress, but a guest invited by Zhang Wang.
