Chapter 2577: No Sleep All Night

Chapter 2577: No Sleep All Night

Xue Yun saw him stop, so he stopped too, raised his head and looked at him, only to see Zhu Feng muttering, "You are indeed worthy..."

“……?”

Xue Yun was baffled by what he heard and asked in surprise, "Your Majesty?"

Zhu Feng said nothing more, turned around and continued walking forward.

After a while, they returned to the birch forest where they had just been. Chen Zixiao and his companions had already lit a bonfire there, and some had set up tents. Everyone was looking forward to it, and when they heard their footsteps from afar, they hurried over.

"emperor!"

Zhu Feng walked over and saw Chen Zixiao leading a few people to bow at his feet. He simply waved his hand and said, "Everyone, get up."

After saying that, he walked over and sat in front of the campfire.

Xue Yun naturally followed behind him.

Chen Zixiao looked at the road they came from. Although this place was very far away from the Yulian River, he could only see the shadow of the river from afar during the day. Once night fell, he could not see anything clearly.

Chen Zixiao said, "Your Majesty, the wind just started to blow. Is Your Majesty alright by the river?"

On the grassland, it suddenly becomes cold as night falls.

Even though their clothes weren't thin, their hands and feet were already cold. Zhu Feng reached out to the fire and added some heat. Then he looked up at Chen Zixiao and said calmly, "It's okay. You don't have to worry."

"That's good."

Chen Zixiao said this and looked at Xue Yun again.

Doctor Xue kept her head down. Perhaps it was because it was much colder at night than during the day, but her face was expressionless, as if she was frozen.

Zhu Feng looked at them again, then said, "Everyone, sit down and warm yourself by the fire, eat something, and go to bed early. Tomorrow, I will set off for the Duwei Mansion at dawn, so don't hold me back."

Everyone hurriedly said, "We dare not."

So, after a simple meal, everyone went to rest. Of course, it was impossible for everyone to sleep. The emperor was away, so there were naturally personal soldiers taking turns patrolling all night.

Fortunately, nothing happened that night.

Only Xue Yun couldn't sleep the whole night. She stared at the darkness in front of her with her empty eyes wide open. Occasionally, the wind blew, and the surrounding birch trees made a rustling sound. The sound was like someone whispering in her ear in a dream.

Her heart could never calm down.

After much difficulty, it was already the hour of Mao. Before daybreak, Zhu Feng got up.

Everyone was quite efficient. After packing up their things and burying the fire, they all mounted their horses and prepared to set off back.

Zhu Feng turned around and glanced at Xue Yun's pale face. He knew that she hadn't slept all night, so he just asked, "Are you still holding on?"

Xue Yun hurriedly said, "I won't get in the way."

Zhu Feng nodded and led them out of the birch forest on horseback.

They galloped all the way, and on the silent grassland, not even a cloud of flying dust could catch up with their figures. Just after the hour of Si, they returned to Handongwei.

As soon as he entered the Duwei Mansion, Zhu Feng ordered everyone to go down and rest, and went straight back to his room.

Xue Yun stood there, watching his back disappear into the distance.

He turned around and left silently.

As soon as I pushed the door open, I saw Nan Yan leaning against the bed, her eyes wide open, looking out the window.

"emperor?"

Turning around, she saw Zhu Feng striding in. She was surprised and delighted and asked, "Why is the emperor back?"

She thought it would take at least until noon.

Zhu Feng walked over and sat down beside the bed, looking at her, especially at her slightly red eyes.

"Didn't sleep all night?"
