Ring ring ring—
Just as Lu Fan was going crazy, the phone inside his clothes rang.
Lu Fan took out his phone and looked at the contact name on the phone to calm himself down.
"Hey, what's wrong, honey?"
He took a deep breath and smiled as he spoke into the phone.
"What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to get off work at 6:30? Why aren't you back by 7?"
As soon as the call was answered, Jiang Manyue's questioning voice came from the other end.
Jiang Manyue across the street had been waiting at home for half an hour.
As usual, you would have been back long ago, since the distance between home and the company is only about ten minutes.
After waiting for ages, the food was getting cold, and thinking something had happened to Lu Fan, they quickly called to ask.
"Something came up at my company and I'm delayed."
Faced with Jiang Manyue's questioning, Lu Fan wasn't stupid and couldn't tell the truth, so he had to make up a lie to get by.
It wasn't that Lu Fan was exaggerating; he had been questioned for half a day and was full of anger over a phone call in the morning that wasn't saved in his contacts.
If they found out, it would be strange if they didn't tear themselves apart.
"Oh, I see. Then hurry back, the food is getting cold. If you don't eat, my baby and I still need to eat."
Although the person on the other end of the phone wasn't angry, their tone still carried a hint of reproach.
"Okay, honey, I'll drive back right away. You and the baby eat first, I'll just have a bite."
"That's more like it."
Upon hearing that Lu Fan would be back soon, Jiang Manyue on the other end of the line hung up the phone without saying anything more.
Lu Fan got up, straightened his clothes, got into the car, and used the rearview mirror to fix his hair, restoring it to the way it looked when he left. He then drove home.
Just as I was about to drive into the villa area, I saw out of the corner of my eye that Zhu Qi's car had stopped near my house. Was she eating something near my house?
I couldn't help but feel a little confused; I really couldn't understand Zhu Qi anymore.
