Chapter 3 Treating Snake Venom
The grass in autumn is a little yellow, and the pheasants in the grass are colorful and easy to identify.
Yongzi was concentrating on the pheasant and didn't notice a yellowish poisonous snake that was also coveting the pheasant's eggs.
Yongzi saw the pheasant right in front of him and was ready to pounce on it.
Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my calf. I looked down and saw a poisonous snake the same color as the soil twisting its body to crawl into the grass.
Yongzi's expression changed drastically. This is a gray snake!
Because its color is similar to that of soil and it often curls up in a ball, it can easily be mistaken for a clod of earth. It is a poisonous snake.
Another soldier, Zhu Qiang, dropped the rabbit in his hand and ran over quickly.
"Where's the snake? Yongzi!"
Yongzi's face was pale and he was already slumped on the ground.
Zhu Qiang quickly took off Yongzi's boots and lifted up his trouser legs, revealing two sharp teeth marks that were oozing black blood.
"Yongzi, hold on, I'll take you to see a doctor right away."
Zhu Qiang bent down, picked up Yongzi and was ready to run.
"Second sister-in-law, isn't your father a doctor? You should be able to treat snake bites, right?"
Mrs. Wan had a malicious smile on her face. She stood in the crowd of Wan family members and looked at Mrs. Wan Er, glancing at little Fubaoer from time to time.
"What? Are you a doctor?"
Zhu Qiang's eyes were fixed on Wan Ersao, as if he would chop her to death if she dared to say no.
Wan Ersao pinched the corner of her clothes nervously. Although her father was a doctor, she could only identify some herbs. How could she have ever treated anyone?
What's more, he is an official. If she doesn't take good care of him, her life will be in danger. What about her child?
Mrs. Wan Er glared at Mrs. Wan Da fiercely, saying that she was really a troublemaker.
"cold--"
At this moment, the soft cry of little Fubao was suddenly heard.
Mrs. Wan Er immediately looked at the little Fubao who was held in Grandma Wan's arms. She saw that the little Fubao was smiling at her. In the sun, the little Fubao's whole face was tanned pink and white, and his little hands were waving constantly.
The tension in Wan Ersao's heart was instantly calmed down by Xiao Fubaoer.
"Sir, although my father is a doctor, I don't know any medical skills. I can only identify some herbs. If you want me to treat you, I can only try reluctantly. If..."
"What are you talking about? Hurry up, if you can't cure me, you will all be buried with my brother."
Zhu Qiang was already extremely anxious, and now he felt that he was being teased by this group of exiles. They clearly knew medical skills, but they just watched him die without helping. He even wanted to kill them.
"Second son's wife, just show your best to the official. I believe you can do it. Fu Baoer is watching."
Old Mrs. Wan's voice came steadily from not far away. She deliberately emphasized Fu Baoer's name to give Wan Ersao some confidence.
"Sir, please put this officer down and lay him down first."
Wan Ersao immediately tore a piece of cloth from the hem of her clothes and tied it tightly above Yongzi's calf.
She turned to Wan Lao Er who was standing behind her and said, "Boss, come and help the official suck out the poisonous blood."
Wan Laoer lay on Yongzi's legs without hesitation and began to suck hard.
After taking more than ten puffs, the blood turned bright red, and only then did Wan Ersao shout "Stop".
"Boss, that's enough. Go to the river and rinse your mouth."
After watching Wan Laoer leave, Wan Ersao hurried to look for herbs nearby.
"What are you doing? My brother hasn't recovered yet, where are you going?"
Zhu Qiang pulled Wan Ersao back when she was about to leave. Because he used too much force, Wan Ersao fell directly to the ground.
The ground was covered with hard lumps of dirt, and Wan Ersao couldn't get up for a long time.
"Second sister-in-law, are you okay?" Third sister-in-law Wan hurried over to help the person up.
"cold--"
"mother--"
Two voices sounded at the same time, one was Xiao Fubaoer, and the other was Wan Ersao's son Wan Wen.
"Mom is fine." Wan Ersao smiled gently at the two children, and thanked Wan Sansao who was supporting her, "Thank you, third brother and sister-in-law."
Wan Ersao brushed the dirt off her body, looked up at Zhu Qiang, and saw that he was staring at her angrily. She was so scared that she quickly lowered her head.
"Sir, this officer has only cleaned up the poisonous blood, but there is still some poison left in the blood. We must find some herbs to apply quickly."
When Zhu Qiang realized that he had misunderstood Wan Ersao, he looked a little embarrassed, but it quickly passed.
"Then what are you still doing here? Why don't you go? If anything happens to my brother, I will still chop you up."
Wan Ersao agreed and immediately went to a nearby damp place to look for Viola yedoensis. This herb was easy to find, but the most effective one was Paris polyphylla, which was only found in the south.
Soon, Wan Ersao found a Viola yedoensis.
She found a stick, dug out the whole herb, wiped the sweat from her head, and hurried back.
Wan Ersao chewed the leaves into powder and applied it to Yongzi's wound, then wrapped it with cloth and then stood up.
"Sir, it's okay. It's fine now."
Zhu Qiang squatted down nervously and asked, "Yongzi, how are you? Do you feel better?"
"Boss, I'm much better. I'm not dizzy anymore and I have more strength. It seems that the poison has really been detoxified."
Yongzi was extremely surprised, but only he knew that he had a close call with death.
Yongzi was helped up by Zhu Qiang and bowed to Wan Ersao, saying, "Thank you for saving my life."
Wan Ersao was so scared that she quickly waved her hands: "You are too polite, sir."
Zhu Qiang knew that Yongzi was a person who would repay a favor. He glanced at the little Fubao in Grandma Wan's arms and said, "Since you saved my brother's life, I'll give you the little girl to raise. It can be considered a life in exchange for a life. From now on, we owe each other nothing."
Wan Ersao had never thought that saving people would bring such a great benefit. She was so excited that she hurriedly thanked him: "Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir."
Zhu Qiang supported Yong Zi and walked to the tree where they were resting. After walking two steps, he turned around and said, "I'll give you the pheasant. Rest here for half a day today and continue on our journey tomorrow."
Because Yongzi was injured, the schedule slowed down, but for the Wan family, it was happier than the Chinese New Year.
Only Mrs. Wan had an indignant look on her face as she watched Mrs. Wan hold little Fubao and tease him from time to time. The scene was warm and harmonious.
"Big Boss's wife, come here for a moment."
It was hard to tell whether Old Lady Wan was happy or angry from her voice, but her expression was not very good.
Mrs. Wan quickly walked over with an apologetic smile: "Mom, you're looking for me? Is there anything to eat? I'm almost starving."
"Ah--Mother, what are you doing?"
Mrs. Wan didn't expect that Mrs. Wan would come up and attack her without saying a word. She twisted her arm hard and almost twisted a piece of her flesh off.
Tears welled up in Mrs. Wan's eyes. She rubbed the place where Old Lady Wan had twisted her body with one hand, while leaning sideways to guard against Old Lady Wan's next move.
However, Old Lady Wan didn't seem to have any intention of taking action again. She sat back under the big tree.
"Listen carefully, Xiao Fubao will be my granddaughter from now on. If anyone dares to have evil ideas about Xiao Fubao again, don't blame me for turning my back on you."
Mrs. Wan curled her lips and said sarcastically, "Mother, she is just a little girl that no one wants. Why do you treat her like a treasure? In my opinion, we can sell her in a town and exchange her for some food. This little girl is not bad looking and can be worth a lot of money."
"Are your ears stuffed with donkey hair? Can't you understand what people say? If anything happens to my little Fubao, you'll be the one to blame."
Old Lady Wan felt upset just looking at Sister Wan. If she hadn't seen Sister Wan almost starving to death on the road when she was fleeing from famine and given her a bowl of rice porridge, she wouldn't have been pestered by this woman who was not in her right mind.
After becoming the daughter-in-law of the Wan family, Mrs. Wan is now regretting it very much. It is really a pity to get something for nothing.
Seeing that Old Lady Wan was really angry, Mrs. Wan shut up.
Beside the grass behind the big tree.
Mrs. Wan was holding the stupid pheasant in her hand, with several pheasant eggs placed at her feet. She asked Mrs. Wan excitedly.
"Mom, what should we do with this pheasant? This chicken is so stupid. It didn't even run away. It's not afraid of people. I just reached out and caught it."
Old Mrs. Wan glanced at the little Fubao in Wan Ersao's arms with an unfathomable smile on her face.
"Let's stew it. Everyone can have some soup."
"Oh, okay, I'll listen to you."
Mrs. Wan San carried the chicken and went to the river.
Wan Laoer had been gone for a long time and had not returned. Wan Er's wife was a little worried. Could he have been poisoned?
She was about to get up to check on Wan Lao Er when she heard Wan San's wife scream, "Second sister-in-law, head of the family, Fourth brother, come quickly!"
