Chapter 508 Roasted Rabbit
Wan Laoer only felt that something was crawling around him, and at a very fast speed, making a rustling sound.
People tend to be more afraid of things they cannot see.
This was exactly what happened to Wan Laoer at this moment. He felt that there were shadows all around him, and as if something was standing behind him and blowing air towards him. His neck felt cold, and he was so scared that he didn't dare to breathe.
Fubao keenly caught the sound coming from something on the ground.
"Daddy, there is something around us, can you feel it?"
Of course Wan Lao Er felt it, and it was very profound, but in order to not scare his daughter, he could only pretend to be calm and said, "It's nothing, let's keep going, daughter, which way should we go?"
Fubao listened to her father's calm tone and believed it. She stretched out her little hand to feel the direction of the wind, but something fell on her hand with a "pa pa". Fubao screamed in fright and threw the thing away. The thing seemed to hit the stone wall and made another crisp sound, and finally rolled to the ground without a sound.
"Girl, what's wrong with you?" Wan Laoer was startled by Fubao's cry.
"Daddy, something fell on my hand. It looks like a bug. It has many small claws and a hard shell. It's so scary."
Fubao’s face turned pale and he hugged Wan Laoer’s neck tightly, not daring to let go.
Wan Laoer felt extremely distressed, which aroused his courage. He made up his mind, raised his foot and stepped down.
He suddenly felt something sticky under his feet. He probably stepped on a lot of insects and killed them, and there was a crackling sound.
Wan Laoer suppressed the fear and nausea in his heart, jogged, and quickly left the cave. However, the insects behind him seemed to be following him, because no matter where he went, those creepy rustling sounds followed him.
Fubao also heard the sound. She started to think and suddenly asked, "Dad, did you hit the stone wall just now?"
"Yes, I was running too fast just now and couldn't see clearly. I didn't know the hole was so short. I ran into it after just a few steps."
Fubao was also hit on the back just now, but because Wan Laoer protected her in time, she didn't feel much pain. It seemed that the injuries were all on her father.
"Dad, are you hurt?"
Wan Laoer had ignored the wound on his hand because he was too nervous. It was only when his daughter asked him about it that he felt a tingling pain on the back of his hand.
"Yeah, it looks like it's bleeding."
"That's right. Those bugs must have followed your blood. They might be blood-sucking bugs. We must get rid of them immediately, otherwise they will attack us soon."
Fubao had seen this kind of insect in the medical book given to her by the old doctor. This kind of insect is also a medicinal ingredient, but it is very poisonous. However, its toxicity can overcome another poison. If it is dried and ground into powder, it will be a very difficult to find medicinal ingredient. Unfortunately, they can't protect themselves now, so even if they encounter this rare insect, they can do nothing.
When Wan Laoer heard his daughter say this, he was so scared that he broke out in a cold sweat and quickly picked up Fubao and continued to run forward.
At this time, the wind seemed to be getting stronger.
"Daddy, there is wind, and I can hear the sound of running water."
Fubao shouted in surprise.
Wan Laoer had been in the mountains before. Where there was water, there would be wind and an exit. They might have reached the center of the cave, and the flowing water was probably a spring flowing through the middle of the mountain.
Wan Laoer couldn't help but quicken his pace.
The closer you are to the flowing water, the better the view.
Soon, the father and daughter saw the long-lost light.
Wan Laoer was so excited that he turned around on the spot, like a long-blind man who finally saw the light again.
"Daddy, please stop turning. I feel dizzy."
Fubao hurried to stop Wan Laoer. She was already hungry, and if Wan Laoer kept spinning around, she would feel even more dizzy.
Wan Laoer quickly stopped.
Fubao also got off Wan Laoer, and they began to take a closer look at the situation in front of them.
This is not the outer edge of the mountain, but the middle of the caves. It is surrounded by cliffs with no visible tops, but there is a green meadow in the middle. There is a spring on the opposite stone wall, flowing down and gathering into a small river on the ground, still emitting hot steam.
Wan Laoer was very surprised. "Girl, if I'm not mistaken, this seems to be a hot spring, right?"
How else to explain the greenery here when everything outside is desolate and withered? There are also flowers of various colors dotted in the middle of the grass.
Fubao, however, wasn't interested at all. Unless she could get something to eat here, she didn't want to see anything.
Wan Laoer looked up at the sky and saw that the snow had stopped falling. He picked up Fubao and walked over.
Fubao was lazily lying on Wan Laoer's shoulder. Suddenly, Fubao's eyes widened and he quickly patted Wan Laoer's shoulder.
"Daddy, look, rabbit, rabbit!"
Wan Laoer immediately looked towards the bush that Fubao pointed to, and sure enough, there was a big gray rabbit in the bush, eating green grass.
"My girl, wait a minute. Daddy will catch you a rabbit to eat."
Fubao immediately perked up.
Wan Laoer quietly went behind the rabbit. The rabbit was eating with relish and didn't notice the danger at all. It didn't seem to be afraid of people. Maybe it was because it had stayed here for too long and had never seen humans. When Wan Laoer picked it up, the rabbit just bounced its legs a few times and was still chewing the tender grass in its mouth.
Wan Laoer couldn't help laughing and slapped the rabbit's fat butt hard.
"What a silly rabbit, he doesn't even know how to hide from people."
When Fubao saw Wan Laoer got the rabbit, he jumped towards Wan Laoer happily.
"Daddy, we have meat to eat."
Wan Laoer took out a dagger from his arms, turned his back, stabbed the rabbit to death, and then deftly skinned it.
But they didn't bring a tinder, so Wan Laoer looked around and actually found a flint.
The ground was littered with dead branches and leaves; just gathering them would be enough for them.
Wan Laoer dug a hole in the ground, made a simple grill with tree sticks, pierced the rabbit with sharpened wooden sticks, and roasted it over the fire.
It was as warm as spring here. Wan Laoer was busy for a while and broke out in a sweat.
They didn't bring any seasoning, the rabbit tasted original.
The rabbit had just been roasted and Fubao couldn't wait any longer. Wan Laoer tore off a big rabbit leg and handed it to Fubao.
"Come on, girl, eat!"
Fubao immediately took it with both hands and started to eat it voraciously.
Wan Laoer cut a large piece of rabbit meat with a dagger and started chewing it. The delicious rabbit meat almost made him cry.
The father and daughter quickly finished half of the rabbit. Fubao's belly was full and he burped comfortably.
Wan Laoer wrapped the remaining rabbit meat in a banana leaf and left it for Arei to eat. Only then did they start to worry about Arei.
