Chapter 664: Mrs. Wan’s Considerations
"Is the second brother back? Have you eaten?" Old Mrs. Wan's voice came from the yard.
Wan Laoer handed the carriage to Baizhi and Banxia, and walked into the yard with Fubao.
"Mom, I was so busy on my way that I haven't eaten yet."
Guihua had quickly fetched a basin of well water and placed it on a stone tray in the yard.
"Uncle, come and wash your face." Guihua smiled and brought soap and towel and placed them next to the basin.
"Okay."
Mrs. Wan Er was going to the kitchen to cook dinner for Mr. Wan Lao Er, but was pulled back by Fubao and Guihua to sit next to Mrs. Wan Lao.
"Second Aunt, what do you want to do? Sister Fubao has already said that you can only be raised now. Tell me what you want to do and I will do it."
Guihua had a stern face and looked like a little housekeeper.
Wan Ersao smiled helplessly, "I've been recuperating for a few days now, and I've recovered a long time ago. I was completely healed the day I saw Fubao. I told you, but you didn't believe me. You didn't let me do anything, and if I'm idle any longer, I'll get sick."
"Second son's wife, you are destined to enjoy a good life. You have a toilsome body, but your children ask you to enjoy it but you refuse. How many people envy you? Come, sit quietly and let them do whatever they want." Old Mrs. Wan laughed and scolded Second son's wife. She patted the stool beside her and told her to sit down obediently.
Wan Ersao could only sit back obediently.
"I'm going to cook for my second uncle. You guys just do whatever you need to do and don't take my work away from me." Guihua smiled and ran away.
Baizhi parked the carriage and went into the kitchen.
"I'll help you light the fire."
Banxia and Baizhi fell in love with this family after only a few days. They were simple, kind and sincere, and they treated people with a warmth that they had never experienced before.
And they found that this ordinary atmosphere made them feel very at ease.
Compared with the intrigues in those wealthy mansions, this place is undoubtedly a paradise without worries, making people forget the passage of time. Moreover, Old Lady Wan does not have the majesty of an old lady at all. Instead, she has the kindness of a grandmother, treating them, the servants, exactly like her granddaughters.
This makes the two people, who have never enjoyed the care of their loved ones since childhood, even more attached to this hard-earned family happiness.
After washing his face, Wan Laoer also sat next to Wan Laotai.
"Mom, what are you talking about? Why do I hear you talking about escaping from famine?"
"These girls are very curious about our past life. Anyway, they have nothing to do, so I will tell them about it, so that they can remember the good times and remember the bad times. The good life now is hard-earned, so we should cherish it."
Old Mrs. Wan was afraid that she would forget the hardships she had suffered in the past, so she reminded herself.
Wan Laoer sat with Grandma Wan for a while, and then Grandma Wan yawned.
"Mom, it's getting late, why don't you go to bed first?"
"Okay, people tend to feel sleepy as they get older, and they have to get up early in the morning. Sigh..." Old Mrs. Wan sighed and was helped to stand up by Liu.
Mrs. Wan happened to see Liu's belly, and thinking of what the second son Wan had just said about the situation in the city, she said to Liu, "Fourth son's wife, your Yu'er is not young anymore, it's time for you to have another child. The fourth son is in the city every day, and you rarely see each other once a year. You are a young couple, too. I think that next time your second brother goes to the city, you should move with him. Don't they have a house there? You can help out there."
Old Lady Wan had her concerns when she said this. The fourth Wan couple were a young couple. The fourth Wan was becoming more and more capable. And she heard from the second Wan that the shop in the city was doing good business. Who knows, some vixen might come and try to seduce them. Old Lady Wan knew the nature of men. Once they had some money, they would lose their minds.
Although she understood her son well, that was in the past, when they were hungry and cold, it was hard to survive, let alone support a woman. But now the situation is different. The family conditions are better, and Wan Laosi handles so much money every day. She is afraid that Wan Laosi will not be able to control himself and do something to let Liu down again. Their family is absolutely not allowed to take concubines. Concubines can disrupt the peace of the family.
Old Mrs. Wan thought to herself that when everyone comes back for the New Year this year, she will give each of her sons lessons on drumming.
Liu didn't expect her mother-in-law to think so much about her. She knew that her mother-in-law had always been a sensible mother-in-law, much better than other mothers-in-law, and she never exploited her daughter-in-law. However, her mother-in-law's words today really touched her.
"Mom, I'm not in a hurry. You haven't fully recovered yet. I want to stay and take care of you." Liu felt that even if she went, it was not the right time to go.
"You don't have to worry about me. I just want to ask you, what will you do if the fourth child finds a little girl outside?"
Mrs. Wan realized that Mrs. Liu didn't understand her good intentions, so she had to point it out to her. Sure enough, Mrs. Liu's face turned pale.
Wan Ersao hurriedly laughed at the side, "Fourth brother's wife, just listen to mother. There are so many of us at home, we can definitely take good care of mother. But fourth brother is probably not that kind of person. We are a couple who have been through thick and thin together, we are not comparable to those vixens outside."
Wan Laoer didn't expect that this was a questioning from his own mother to his own son. He smiled bitterly and mourned for Wan Laosi in his heart for a while.
"Thank you for your hard work, sister-in-law, but Yu'er..."
Liu also wanted to go, but if she took a child with her, she wouldn't be able to help.
"If you feel at ease, just leave Yu'er at home and I will help look after her for you." Wan Ersao said gently.
"Don't worry, of course you can. Second sister-in-law is the best at taking care of children. I heard that the three children of eldest brother were all raised by eldest sister-in-law, and each one is better than the other. I feel relieved to leave Yu'er to you. Fubao is also at home, and Wanyu listens to her sister the most."
Fubao took Wanyu's hand and asked, "Brother, your mother is going to look for your father. Do you want to go? Or do you want to stay with your sister at our house?"
Everyone looked at Fubao and Wanyu.
Mrs. Liu felt a little guilty. She only cared about herself and didn't even think of asking the child for his opinion. Fortunately, Fubao was thoughtful. Otherwise, how disappointed would the child be if he suddenly couldn't find his mother?
Wan Yu was a little confused.
"Sister, I want to follow Mom, but I also want to follow you and Grandma."
"It's okay. You have time to think about it. Don't worry. Think it over before answering me. If you want to stay at home, I will teach you about medicinal herbs."
Wan Yu's eyes lit up when she heard this, "Really? Sister wants to teach Yu'er about medicinal herbs?"
"When has my sister ever gone back on her word?" Fubao raised his little head proudly.
"Then my sister and I will stay at home." Wan Yu made his choice immediately without any hesitation.
Liu felt a little uncomfortable, but she didn't act pretentiously for too long. She should be happy that her second sister-in-law and her family were helping her take care of the child, but she couldn't help missing the child.
Wan Yu had been brought up personally by her since she was born, and they had never been apart for a single day. Now that they were suddenly separated, she suddenly felt very reluctant to let him go, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Fourth brother's wife, you are not leaving now. There are still a few days left. You should pack up slowly. When your second brother goes to the provincial capital, you can leave at any time." Old Mrs. Wan noticed that Liu was acting strangely and said something to her in a neither light nor heavy tone.
Liu nodded and helped Old Lady Wan into the house.
After Wan Laoer finished his meal, he took Fubao out of the yard alone, muttered to him for a while, and then let Fubao go back.
