Chapter 134 Awakened

Xu Ye took the handkerchief, folded it to the right size, and pressed it against Xu Moran's bleeding wound, her words filled with heartache, "Ranran, does it still hurt?"

It did hurt a little, but Xu Moran had a higher pain tolerance than most people. Seeing Xu Ye's anxious look, she chuckled and shook her head, "It's okay, it doesn't hurt at all."

Xu Ye still felt sorry for him and said, "It's all my fault, it must hurt a lot."

If Xu Xiusen hadn't been there, Xu Moran might have actually touched Xu Ye's hair. She held back and took Xu Ye's hand that was pressing on her wound. "I've been injured much more badly before. This little bit of skin is nothing."

Before Xu Ye could respond, Xu Xiusen preemptively asked Xu Moran, "Mo Mo, did you get injured frequently before?"

Xu Moran didn't know why Xu Xiusen was making such a fuss, and explained with a smile, "It's not often, just occasionally."

“Even occasionally is not allowed!” Xu Xiusen said firmly. “How can my daughter get hurt occasionally? That’s absolutely unacceptable. Momo, Dad has thought it through. Girls shouldn’t be police officers. Tell Dad what you want to do, and Dad will arrange it for you right away.”

Xu Moran, "..."

She had this feeling that she could do whatever she wanted from now on, but that wasn't good. She still preferred the ordinary life she used to lead.

She repeatedly declined Xu Xiusen's offer, saying, "Thank you, but I really don't want to change jobs. I quite like being a police officer."

Xu Xiusen didn't press Xu Moran. "Mo Mo, don't be so polite with Dad. Anyway, just remember, if you're ever unhappy, Dad will make arrangements for you anytime."

Xu Ye continued, "Uncle Xu, could you please give me the tissues in front of me?"

Although Xu Xiusen looked displeased, he still picked up a tissue and handed it to Xu Ye.

"Ah!" Xu Xiusen's hand made a muffled sound as soon as it touched the tissue.

Xu Moran asked him, "What's wrong?"

Xu Xiusen examined the tissue and said, "How come there are glass shards on it?"

Just as he was about to call the waiter over to check, Xu Ye scratched his head sheepishly, "I guess I accidentally jumped on it when I was biting the bottle cap with my teeth. Uncle Xu, I'm so sorry."

Xu Xiusen was speechless. If Xu Moran hadn't been there, he would have slammed his fist on the table and yelled at Xu Ye for being so careless. How could he entrust Xu Moran to him with peace of mind?!

Xu Ye not only apologized verbally, but also demonstrated his sincerity with his actions by using the other half of the handkerchief that Xu Moran hadn't used to absorb the blood from Xu Xiusen's wound.

Xu Xiusen's reaction speed was not as fast as Xu Ye's. By the time he rejected Xu Ye's kindness, Xu Ye had already absorbed the visible beads of blood that had seeped out onto the handkerchief.

Xu Ye placed the handkerchief on the dining table, seemingly intending to throw it away as trash. Xu Xiusen, however, couldn't bear to throw it away; all the handkerchiefs he used were bought for him by his wife, who had passed away many years ago.

His daughter died young, and his wife also passed away. The handkerchiefs in the drawer were his only remaining memory and proof that he once had a warm home.

Although Xu Xiusen wasn't a germaphobe, he wasn't unkempt either. The handkerchief was stained with Xu Moran's blood, but he didn't find it dirty or disgusting. Instead, he took it out, folded it again, and put it back in his pocket.

.

Xu Moran also noticed this detail and felt a little awkward. After all, he and Xu Xiusen were not really related by blood, so why didn't he mind at all?

Could it be that she really looks so much like the woman in Xu Xiusen's mind?

Before she could think any further, the sound of arguing interrupted her thoughts. Looking in the direction of the sound, she saw a man and a woman arguing at a table not far from her.

You could vaguely tell what was going on from the two of them arguing back and forth.

It turns out they were an unmarried couple who were having a great relationship, but due to negligence, the girl got pregnant.

The boy was overjoyed to hear that the girl was pregnant and immediately went home to tell his parents that he wanted to marry her. The boy's parents were not very supportive of the marriage because the girl was from out of town, and in their minds, their daughter-in-law had to be a local. But now that the girl was pregnant, they had no choice but to agree to the marriage.

To celebrate finally getting the boy's parents' approval, the two of them went to this Western restaurant for the evening. However, the girl went to the restroom halfway through the meal and left her phone on the table. While she was in the restroom, her phone rang with a text message.

Now everyone uses smartphones, unlike before when you had to open your inbox to read a message. Now the content just pops up on the screen.

The boy didn't intend to peek at the girl's phone; he was afraid someone from her company would contact her, and his instinctive reaction upon hearing the voice led him to lean in and take a look.

Upon seeing this, he was completely stunned, and at the same time, he felt that a huge green hat, even larger than the new house his parents had prepared for him, was floating down towards his head.

Although people often say these days that if you want a comfortable life, you shouldn't care about a little bit of green on your head, when it actually happens to you, even if it's just a tiny bit of green on your head, you'll feel uneasy, anxious, fearful, and furious...

When a mix of emotions struck right at the heart, the boy almost left before the girl returned.

Because his parents had spent almost all their life savings to buy him a house for their wedding, and because he secretly put the girl's name on the property certificate to make her happy, he endured sitting there waiting for her to come back, all for the sake of half the property.

When the girl returned from the restroom, she saw that the boy was holding her phone. Her expression immediately changed, and she directly questioned the boy about why he had been looking at her phone.
