Chapter 146 Poor Captain Sun

Yu Lanlan never expected that Xu Moran still thought she had feelings for Xiao Anhe. With a mournful face, she secretly prayed in her heart, "Boss, please let me go. The boss is very outstanding, handsome and rich, but he's not my type. I really don't like him and I don't have any improper thoughts about him."

Xu Moran had no idea what Yu Lanlan was thinking. Seeing that she didn't answer, he thought he had hit the nail on the head and then said to Yu Lanlan, "Girl, you should go find your destined one."

Yu Lanlan felt that the best thing to do at this time was not to explain, otherwise it would be bad if she accidentally revealed that Xiao Anhe was just her boss in a moment of panic.

As Xiao Anhe's chief secretary, she was quite perceptive. She recognized that the woman in front of her was the future boss's wife and knew she had to serve her well and carefully, without making the slightest mistake.

“Miss Xu.” She nodded, keeping her eyes fixed on the road ahead. “What you said makes a lot of sense. I’ll remember it. I’ll find my own destiny.”

Xu Moran didn't say anything more, still holding her phone in her hand. After hesitating for a long time, she decided to call Xu Ye and ask him where he had gone in the morning and why he hadn't come back yet.

The phone rang, but no one answered. Thinking of Xu Ye's face, Xu Moran became even more worried. Could he have been targeted by a human trafficker and tricked into being sold?

A scene immediately flashed into her mind: a year later, she received a mission to rescue trafficked people in a remote mountain forest with her colleagues. She pushed open the door and saw Xu Ye, dressed in tattered clothes, holding a child in his arms, with another person standing beside him.

Seeing Xu Moran, he said with tears in his eyes, "Ranran, you've finally come! Look, these are the children I gave birth to for you, twins! Do you like them? Are you satisfied? Aren't you surprised?"

Xu Moran stared wide-eyed and mouth agape at Xu Ye, not a trace of surprise, but utter shock. A pair of twins who looked at least half a year apart was enough to frighten her, let alone the fact that Xu Ye said they were born to her.

When did technology advance to the point where men could give birth to women's children?

How come she didn't know?

Huh? Realizing what she was thinking, Xu Moran shuddered and felt a chill. What's wrong with her lately? Her imagination has become so vivid.

As Xu Moran got out of the car, Yu Lanlan magically handed him a cup of coffee, her attitude so respectful that it was nothing like a chauffeur treating a passenger.

"You..." Xu Moran looked at Yu Lanlan and asked suspiciously, "Are you really a private car driver?"

Yu Lanlan remained calm and composed as she openly sized up Xu Moran. "Ms. Xu, to be honest, driving a private car is just a side job for me. I have a main job, which is administration."

She carefully avoided using the word "secretary," all because of the current social climate, which has distorted the originally beautiful word "secretary."

Xu Moran had always suspected that she harbored ill intentions towards her boss, Xiao Anhe. If she directly told her that she was a secretary, she would probably overthink things even more.

Xu Moran looked down at the coffee in his hand, relieved by Yu Lanlan's meticulous and thoughtful approach. "Thank you, I'll be going now."

Yu Lanlan waved her hand repeatedly and said, "No need to thank me."

Xu Moran took a few steps, then turned back and saw Yu Lanlan still standing there watching her go. For some reason, an indescribable feeling welled up in her heart.

Yu Lanlan seemed to respect her a lot, but it didn't seem like she was respecting her as a person, but rather as a certain identity she held. Could it be that even Yu Lanlan knew about Xu Xiusen recognizing her as his goddaughter?

When she looked away, she shook her head vigorously. She couldn't let her mind wander anymore, or her normal life would be completely disrupted.

She arrived a little late today; the cleaning lady was already mopping the stairs. When she saw Xu Moran, she seemed very happy—the kind of happiness one feels when meeting a kindred spirit.

"Officer Xu." The cleaning lady leaned close to Xu Moran, looked him up and down, and said mysteriously, "Let me tell you, half an hour ago, when I was cleaning Officer Sun's office, he was already there. I was wiping his desk when he answered a phone call. Guess what I heard?"

Xu Moran had absolutely no interest in gossip, and asked listlessly, "What did you hear?"

To prove that what she was about to say was indeed a big secret that no third person could hear, the cleaning lady looked all over Xu Moran, from left to right and from top to bottom, before leaning close to his ear again and whispering, "Officer Xu, what I told you last time was wrong, or rather, the first time I told you was right and the second time was wrong. Forget it, let's not beat around the bush. No matter what I told you before, let's put it in the past. What I'm going to tell you now is that the reason your Captain Sun is still single at his age is not because he has a girl he likes, but because he simply doesn't like women."

"Ah..." This news was so sudden, Xu Moran exclaimed in surprise, "No way?!"

“Officer Xu.” The cleaning lady looked at Xu Moran with the eyes of someone who had lived a long life and seen a lot. “It’s true, I heard it with my own ears. Besides, you are Officer Xu, why would I lie to you?”

Xu Moran was still caught up in the fact that Sun Xingchao's sexual orientation was questionable when the cleaning lady said, "Officer Xu, there's a saying that's really true: these days, good-looking men are either someone's husband or gay."

Putting aside the fact that the cleaning lady, who was old and barely literate, could speak English, Xu Moran found it amusing that the cleaning lady hadn't even seen what the man who called Sun Xingchao looked like, so how could she be sure he was good-looking?
