"Well, this question..." Bai Lu thought for a moment, "I can't answer it for you right now."
"Why?" The shop owner's passion for recognition, which had just been ignited, was doused with water, and the disappointment in his heart was indescribable.
“Because…” Bai Lu looked at the two things in his hand, “I only heard you mention them, but I didn’t actually see what they looked like.”
The shop owner's hopes, which had been dashed, were suddenly rekindled. "It's all my fault. I was too busy talking and didn't do any actual product demonstration or introduction."
Bai Lu clasped her hands together in front of her chest, remaining silent, using body language to indicate that she was ready to listen.
The shop owner enthusiastically unfolded the first item, a belt custom-made to Pei Hang's specifications, one that only Pei Hang himself could unfasten. "Miss, please give me ten minutes so I can explain in detail the special features of this belt..."
Thinking of something, she reluctantly ended his rambling, "Miss, let me get you a chair to sit down. Are you thirsty? I'll get you a glass of water."
Bai Lu waved her delicate little hand and said domineeringly, "No need, just say it."
The shop owner gave Bai Lu a thumbs up, "Miss, you're so cool! I think if you lived in ancient times, you would definitely be a female knight-errant."
Bai Lu snorted, "Whether I'm a chivalrous woman or not is none of my business, but there's one thing I'm sure of: if you don't tell me soon, this deal of yours will fall through. Just now, I heard you say that this was custom-made according to my boyfriend's requirements, which means that if we don't want it, you simply can't sell it."
The shop owner, probably never having encountered such a sharp-tongued woman before, was immediately stunned. Once he recovered, he spoke rapidly, like a firecracker: "Miss, I was wrong just now. Now, please look at this belt. It's made from a whole piece of imported Australian calfskin. These calves have been fed the best milk and grass since birth, and they even get to play music for them regularly..."
Bai Lu frowned slightly, interrupting his long-winded explanation, "Let's skip the details and get straight to the purpose."
The shop owner was secretly relieved that Bai Lu had interrupted him; otherwise, he wouldn't know how to continue making things up. The story about the little calf listening to music that he had just told him was something he had heard from his spendthrift, lazy mistress.
"Okay, sure." The shop owner nodded vigorously. "Just tell me the purpose, miss. What's the biggest difference between this belt and a regular belt?"
Bai Lu ignored him.
He felt a lull in the conversation, but that didn't stop him from continuing enthusiastically: "The biggest difference between this belt and a regular belt is that it doesn't have a buckle."
Bai Lu glanced at the so-called belt, then at Young Master Pei beside her, and nodded, "That's right, this belt doesn't have a buckle."
"So, how can anyone unfasten a belt without a buckle?" the shop owner said, shaking the belt with a smug look on his face.
"You're going to sell this for such a high price just because it's made of a few strands of nylon rope?" Bai Lu retorted without any politeness.
The shop owner clearly felt a cold sweat trickling down his back. He forced a smile and said, "Miss, don't be fooled by the fact that this belt is made of nylon rope. It's actually made using high-tech nanotechnology..."
"Alright." Bai Lu raised her hand to stop him from continuing to make up stories. "Just make me three more like this."
"What?" The shopkeeper looked at him as if he couldn't believe his ears. "You want three more?"
The shop owner wasn't stupid; he knew Bai Lu had already seen through his lie. What nanotechnology? He was just blatantly lying. Why was he suddenly adding three more points?
Bai Lu didn't explain, but instead asked the shop owner, "What's wrong? Is there a problem? Or is there money to be made, but you don't want to make it?"
The shop owner waved his hands repeatedly, "No problem at all, of course no problem, miss, please wait a moment, I'll make it right away... no, I mean, a custom-made one."
As he spoke, he ran towards the inner room. In his excitement, he kicked over two chairs while running.
Bai Lu called out to him, "Wait a minute."
The shop owner turned to look at the "fat sheep," his face beaming, "Is there anything else you'd like to order?"
Bai Lu asked him, "What other special requests can you fulfill?"
The shop owner said proudly, "Miss, to be honest, before I opened this shop, I studied art. I can draw whatever you want on a belt."
Bai Lu nodded in satisfaction. "That's good?"
"Miss, what would you like to have painted?" The shop owner was overjoyed. It was good that there were requests, as this would allow him to earn more money.
"I need it urgently, so I don't need the drawing material," Bai Lu said. "I won't wait here. I'll deliver it to you after you finish it..."
Bai Lu gave an address, then took out her wallet from her bag, pulled out a wad of cash, and put it on the table. "Here's the money for you."
The wad of money deeply stirred the shop owner's heart. He excitedly said, "Miss, don't worry, I will make it and send it over as soon as possible. I'll also make a few more pairs of those underwear."
Bai Lu glanced at Young Master Pei, whose face had become as ugly as could be, and a quick smile flashed in her eyes. "Alright, if there's enough time, make a few more."
The shop owner responded and quickly ran towards the inner room. From his words and actions, it was clear that he had changed his key customer from Pei Hang to Bai Lu.
Women's money is indeed the easiest to swindle, the shop owner thought smugly. The cost was less than ten yuan, and he made many times that amount.
