Chapter 197 The Grand Finale (Part 1)

The bad guys have been brought to justice, but the harm they caused to Huiwen can never be undone.

During that time, the deputy... stopped working, turned down all social engagements, and took a long leave to stay home with Huiwen.

Fearing that the sight of the place would trigger unpleasant memories for Huiwen, she quickly moved.

Huiwen has changed after all.

He became less talkative and preferred to lock himself in his room alone for an entire day.

The deputy... saw it all, was anxious, but was completely helpless.

Later, a psychologist told her that he had encountered similar cases in clinical practice before. Huiwen had deliberately sealed her heart away. The only way to unseal it was for her to meet the right person and let him slowly enter her heart.

Even though decades have passed, the deputy still remembers how she looked back then, asking the psychologist with despair and heartache, "Is there really such a person?"

Huiwen was no longer able to attend school, so the vice-principal hired a tutor for her, barely managing to get her to learn all the characters she needed to recognize and the basic knowledge she was supposed to understand.

No matter how sad she was, time passed day by day, and soon Huiwen grew into a young woman, reaching the age where she was ready to get married. Many people came to propose marriage, but she was rejected by the vice-chairman.

Huiwen's situation is not suitable for marriage at all, let alone having children. She had long ago planned to support Huiwen for the rest of her life.

No matter how well things are planned, there are always variables. Huiwen, who always stayed in her room, somehow came out of her room the moment Xu Xiusen knocked on the door.

The deputy... could see it very clearly; the moment Huiwen saw Xu Xiusen, her eyes lit up instantly.

It was as if she had returned to the time before she was hurt, and all her spiritual energy had returned.

The deputy, who never lets strangers into his home, decided to give it a try and allowed Xu Xiusen, who was collecting electricity bills, into the house.

To her surprise, Huiwen not only didn't scream and refuse, but instead smiled at Xu Xiusen, a gentle and serene smile.

Such a quiet and beautiful Huiwen... I haven't seen her for so long, I was stunned.

What happened next was pretty much what Xu Xiusen had told Xu Moran: the deputy... for Huiwen's sake, drugged the tea Xu Xiusen was given, forcing him to agree to marry Huiwen.

Recalling the past to this point, the deputy shook his head vigorously, trying to stop himself from thinking about it any further.

Xu Xiusen looked at her calmly, "So, Mom, can you tell me now about many things you couldn't tell me before?"

The deputy let out a deep sigh. "Yes, now that things have come to this, what is there that I can't tell you? There are indeed quite a few things I've been hiding from you. Ask me everything you want to know, one by one, and I'll answer them one by one."

Xu Xiusen composed himself and said, "Let's start with what Huiwen experienced when she was a child. After being stimulated, Huiwen's emotions become unstable, but it's definitely not because her father has a hereditary mental illness, as you said."

The deputy... Knowing that Xu Xiusen was intelligent, she wasn't surprised at all that he had such doubts. As she said, there was no need to hide anything from Xu Xiusen now. She organized her thoughts and told him about Huiwen's childhood experiences.

Xu Xiusen's face turned ashen, and bulging veins were visible on his temples. He wanted to kill the nanny and the convenience store owner.

His Huiwen had actually encountered such a nightmare. He truly hated himself for appearing in her world so late.

The deputy was not surprised to see Xu Xiusen's bloodthirsty and murderous look, because she had also wanted to kill back then.

She looked at the furious Xu Xiusen and changed the subject, "Huiwen's condition has never been good. Sometimes she even kicks me out of the room. Why is it different with you?"

This is something I've never been able to figure out over the years. I've wanted to ask Xu Xiusen about it before, but I never had the chance.

Xu Xiusen looked at the deputy… and gave him an expression that said, “There’s no need to hide it from you now.” “That time I went to collect the electricity bill, it wasn’t the first time I saw Huiwen. Being a low-level civil servant in the neighborhood was my first job after graduating from university and passing the civil service exam. Full of confidence and high spirits, I did every task conscientiously. I would walk around the neighborhood I was responsible for almost every day. One day, I looked up unintentionally and saw Huiwen hiding behind the curtains. I smiled at her, and her response was to panic and draw the curtains shut. I had never seen such a shy and lovely girl. From then on, I would look up every day when I passed by Huiwen’s building. After a while, Huiwen stopped hiding and even smiled at me. I was very happy, and I felt that my love had finally arrived. Just when I was about to pursue Huiwen, someone told me that Huiwen had a mental illness. I almost got into a fight with that person because of that. Actually, I wasn’t collecting the electricity bill that day. I swapped shifts with a colleague so that I could see Huiwen, to see her up close…”

"As a result, when you saw Huiwen, you realized that she was your ideal partner. So, being young and still prioritizing love above all else, you decided to pursue her regardless of whether Huiwen had mental problems or not." Before Xu Xiusen could finish speaking, the deputy interrupted with a hint of impatience.

Xu Xiusen paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, no one understands better than me how I felt when I first looked up and saw Huiwen hiding behind the curtains. In fact, from that moment on, I knew I had fallen in love with Huiwen, and that I would marry no one but her in this lifetime!"
