Xu Ye touched his nose. "Ranran, you've wronged me. How was I supposed to know Xiaomei would be such a dog?"
The two people were speaking quite loudly, but it didn't affect Xiao Mei, who was completely focused. When she saw something exciting, she even let out a howl like a wolf.
What's even funnier is that the two dogs next to it were actually agreeing with it.
Xu Moran couldn't stand it anymore. She felt that if she didn't intervene, Xiao Mei would go further and further down the wrong path, and she had a responsibility and obligation to correct her.
Just as she was about to step into the room, a figure appeared in front of her at a speed so fast that it was barely perceptible to the naked eye.
The person must have run a long way. When he stood in front of Xu Moran, he was still panting heavily. Upon closer inspection, it was the restaurant manager.
Xu Moran looked at the panting restaurant manager and asked, puzzled, "What's wrong with you?"
After catching his breath several times, the restaurant manager finally answered Xu Moran's question, "Miss, are you satisfied with our service?"
Xu Moran's mind was still on dragging Xiaomei out of the room, so he casually replied to the restaurant manager, "Satisfied."
"So, do you think we've taken good care of your pet?" The restaurant manager asked Xu Moran with a standard professional smile and expectant eyes.
"What?" Xu Moran thought she had misheard, and asked again what the restaurant manager had said, "You're saying that Xiaomei was planted there by you?"
For example, arranging for Xiaomei to watch dog-themed action movies in her room that were not suitable for dogs; another example was arranging for a male and a female dog to accompany Xiaomei while she watched those kinds of movies, which she was too embarrassed to say out loud.
Human imagination is indeed incredibly rich, and human morality is indeed limitless.
“Yes.” The restaurant manager thought he had pleased Xu Moran and nodded happily. “I think a country’s civilization is reflected in its care for the weak and small animals. Of course I will care more about such a cute little dog that you brought.”
Xu Moran was so angry that he wanted to spit blood all over the manager's face. Was there something wrong with his eyes?
That's why Xiaomei is described as an adorable little puppy, even though she's such a huge creature.
Xu Moran is not an unreasonable person. She did not blame the restaurant manager entirely. In her opinion, Xiao Mei must have done something that caused the restaurant manager to misunderstand something, which led him to come up with that way to "entertain" Xiao Mei.
"Could you please go and bring your little dog out of your room now?" Xu Moran asked the restaurant manager calmly, suppressing the rage raging in his mind.
Since it was Xu Moran's request, the restaurant manager gladly complied.
He did exactly as Xu Moran said, and when he got to Xiao Mei, he actually squatted down to hug her. Only then did he realize that the cute little puppy Xiao Mei was not an ordinary weight.
The restaurant manager's face turned red from the exertion, but the adorable little dog, Xiao Mei, remained squatting there motionless. What angered Xu Moran even more was that the commotion at the door had no effect on Xiao Mei at all; its dog eyes were still fixed on the computer screen.
What nearly made Xu Moran so angry that his lungs exploded was yet to come. When he saw the exciting part, Xiao Mei used her front paws to poke the dog next to her.
What angered Xu Moran even more was what happened next. She saw it clearly: Xiao Mei's paws were reaching for the male dog wearing overalls.
Originally, she thought that as long as Xiaomei could find a suitable live dog, it didn't matter whether it was a female or male dog. However, when she saw that Xiaomei's paws were obviously going to slap the male dog, her heart ached a little.
This is also one of the reasons why Xu Moran, although she had read romance novels when she was in school, never read BL (Boys' Love) novels. She simply couldn't accept love between people of the same sex.
Of course, although she didn't accept it, she didn't object either. After all, it was someone else's private matter; one could disagree, but had no right to object.
The restaurant manager glanced toward the door. The glance was so quick that Xu Moran didn't even have time to see whether he was looking at her or Xu Ye before he looked away and continued trying to hug the cute little dog, Xiao Mei.
Just like the first time, the restaurant manager put in all his effort, but it ended in failure.
Xiao Mei was watching an action movie featuring her own kind with unusual focus, completely unaware that someone had tried to hug her twice; her dog eyes remained fixed on the computer screen.
Even with Xu Moran's exceptional patience, he had completely lost it by now. He pounded on the door and shouted loudly into the room, "Xiao Mei!"
With a roar from Xu Moran, the dog, which had been engrossed in watching the movie, suddenly jolted and turned its face toward Xu Moran.
Although Xiaomei is a dog, she is one that harbors a kind of wishful thinking, like some other dog. She probably hoped that the angry roar she heard just now was just a misunderstanding.
Then, when it saw Xu Moran standing at the door, its eyes were filled with utter disappointment, the kind of disappointment that's written in capital letters.
Xu Moran certainly saw the disappointment in Xiao Mei's eyes. She looked at Xiao Mei and sneered, "Xiao Mei, it feels good to have two women on your arms, doesn't it?"
Even if having two women on either side is really nice, Xiao Mei won't answer. She truly lives up to her reputation as Xiao Anhe's dog; her reaction speed is very fast. Once she confirms that Xu Moran is standing at the door and that the angry roar just now was indeed made by her, she trots off to the door.
Knowing that Xu Moran must be angry, it ran to Xu Moran's side and used its ultimate move: acting cute.
Xu Moran wasn't necessarily really angry with a dog; he just pretended to be angry and ignored it, then turned and walked towards the restaurant door.
