"Forget it." Xu Moran waved his hand. "I'm not talking to you anymore. No matter what you said to that old man who was trying to scam you, whether you threatened him or reasoned with him, it's already good enough that he realized he was wrong."
Xu Ye stared intently at Xu Moran, making Xu Moran feel extremely uncomfortable. She almost wondered if there was something dirty on her face and wanted to wipe it off. Suddenly, Xu Ye smiled at Xu Moran and said, "Ranran, I've noticed that you're getting more and more beautiful."
Xu Moran rolled her eyes at him, snorted, and walked out of the bookstore. On the surface, she seemed unmoved by Xu Ye's praise, but in reality, her face was burning hot.
Xu Moran felt that she was just an ordinary person after all, unable to resist the praise from such a handsome guy as Xu Ye.
The two people walked out of the bookstore one after the other, but when they reached the door, they started holding hands.
Of course, it was Xu Ye who reached out to pull Xu Moran's hand.
As for Xu Moran, she didn't try as hard as before to pull her hand away; she just made a token gesture and let Xu Ye have his way.
An Jingfeng had parked his car on the side of the road early to wait for Xiao Anhe. When he saw him, he waved to him excitedly.
Given An Jingfeng's burly and tall stature, Xu Moran couldn't pretend she couldn't see him. She could see clearly that the man on the roadside not far away was waving at Xu Ye.
She turned to look at Xu Ye and asked him, "Do you know him?"
Xu Ye remained expressionless and shook his head, "I don't know him."
After thinking for a moment, he added, "I think it might be the son of the old man who staged the accident earlier."
Xu Moran frowned slightly. She felt something was off about what seemed like a flawless statement.
While Xiao Anhe and Xu Moran were talking, An Jingfeng had already realized that Xiao Anhe was not alone. Oh no, it was all his fault. He was too excited when he received Xiao Anhe's call and forgot to check.
What should we do now?
Especially after he accidentally slept with his future sister-in-law's best friend, he felt not only uneasy but also guilty when he saw Xu Moran, his future sister-in-law.
How could An Jingfeng, a dignified five-foot-tall man who used to fight in underground boxing matches, be so afraid of a woman?
Well, what he was afraid of wasn't Xu Moran, but rather the whispers in Xiao Anhe's ear that Xu Moran might use against him.
He could roughly guess that Xu Moran was asking Xiao Anhe if he knew him. At a certain distance, he really couldn't hear what Xiao Anhe was saying.
So, he was torn between putting down his hand and keeping it down. Finally, while he was still hesitating about how to put his hand down, Xiao Anhe had already walked up to him, holding Xu Moran's hand.
When six eyes meet, it becomes a little awkward.
Xu Moran spoke first, "Were you waving at us just now?"
An Jingfeng nodded reluctantly, then quickly shook his head as if he had thought of something.
Xu Moran was completely confused. "You're nodding and shaking your head, so is it or isn't it?"
An Jingfeng swallowed hard and began to lie through his teeth, “I’m not afraid of being laughed at by you two, but the person who was faking an accident in front of you just now was my godfather. Sigh, I still can’t understand why he would go out and stage accidents to extort money when he clearly has a pension.”
Neither Xiao Anhe nor Xu Moran answered his question. As far as Xu Moran was concerned, this was someone else's family matter, and as an outsider, she shouldn't say too much.
As for Xiao Anhe, he knew that An Jingfeng was just making things up to avoid arousing Xu Moran's suspicion, so he didn't respond.
A gust of north wind blew, scattering leaves from the sycamore trees along the street. One of the leaves twirled a few times in the air before landing at the foot of Anjing Peak.
Looking at the withered leaves at his feet, An Jingfeng felt a surge of emotion, as if he could see himself being boiled in oil.
It was so awkward, so incredibly awkward.
This awkward silence was caused by An Jingfeng himself. Just like the sex he arranged, no matter how difficult it was, he had to keep going even with tears in his eyes. He had to warm up this awkward silence.
"However," he glanced at Xiao Anhe, then at Xu Moran, before changing the subject, "my stubborn godfather, who was determined to become a master of staged accidents and one day establish a staged accident syndicate, suddenly had an epiphany. He realized that it was really inappropriate for someone his age to be staging accidents. When he came out just now, he kept holding my hand and saying how he had been so disrespectful to his elders before, and how he hadn't even realized it. Now that he thinks about it, he's really lost face. That's why I'm waiting here to thank you all."
As he spoke, he reached out to shake the hands of the two "benefactors" who had successfully persuaded his godfather to reform.
When Xu Moran saw An Jingfeng's hand reach out, he instinctively dodged to the side, avoiding his handshake.
Xiao Anhe didn't dodge and shook hands with An Jingfeng.
The two men then exchanged words during their handshake.
Xiao Anhe's message to An Jingfeng is quite good. He's gotten smarter lately and can even make up stories now. I remember you used to be so dull.
An Jingfeng replied to Xiao Anhe, "Brother, I was forced into this. If I don't want to be sent to Africa to mine, I have to be flexible."
There was another half-sentence, which he didn't dare reply to Xiao Anhe. The other half-sentence was this: "Brother, if you have a very cute little girl living across the hall, and she's at the age where she loves listening to stories, and you really like her, you'll start reading storybooks to her. Even more so, after reading so many stories, she'll eventually start making up her own stories."
An Jingfeng thought that the reason why Hans Christian Andersen was able to write so many fairy tales must be because there was a lovely little girl living across the street from him.
While body language can facilitate communication, verbal communication is also necessary; otherwise, how could they possibly deceive Xu Moran?
