Xu Moran gave a soft hum, indicating that she saw through Xu Ye's little schemes.
Although she had never been in a relationship, she knew that men cared about their image. Regardless of whether there were other people around, she would always consider Xu Ye's feelings in public, which is why she snorted.
Xu Ye didn't care about any of that. Anyway, Xu Moran had promised not to mention letting him leave again until he regained his memories, which was good enough.
Xu Moran ate an exceptionally large lunch, not because she liked Western food, but because Xu Ye had ordered so much that it would be a waste if she couldn't finish it.
When they were almost finished eating, Xu Ye had already put down his knife and fork and was looking at her with his chin in his hand.
Xu Moran was trying her best to finish the last vegetable salad that was served, and her stomach was already very full. When she saw Xu Ye staring at her, she immediately glared at him and said irritably, "What are you looking at? Hurry up and eat some more."
"I've noticed that our little Ranran is getting prettier and prettier," Xu Ye said to Xu Moran with a smile.
Xu Moran picked up a napkin to wipe her mouth and said dismissively, "Thank you for the compliment."
Xu Ye raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "You're welcome."
Xu Moran, "..."
She realized once again that she couldn't out-argue Xu Ye, so she got up to pay the bill.
Not long after she got up, the phone that was originally in her bag quickly appeared in Xu Ye's hand.
Under the cover of the napkin, his hands moved nimbly, his fingers so dexterous they were breathtaking.
When Xu Moran returned after paying the bill, he was already playing with a straw out of sheer boredom.
Xu Moran bent down to get her bag and said to Xu Ye, "Can you go back by yourself? I have to go to work this afternoon."
Xu Ye looked at her pitifully, "Ranran, aren't you afraid that I'll run into another woman who wants to give me a phone?"
He emphasized the word "woman".
Xu Moran leaned forward, bringing his upper body close to Xu Ye's face. Looking at his flawless features, he said, word by word, "I'm actually more afraid that it will be a man who gives you the phone than a woman."
Remembering something, she straightened up, took out her wallet from her bag, opened it, and pulled out a card, handing it to Xu Ye. "This is my salary card, and also my only bank card. I'll keep it with you for now. The PIN is..."
After saying that, she gave Xu Ye the bulk of the cash in her wallet. She didn't remind Xu Ye to be frugal, because she knew that no matter how many times she told him, Xu Ye would still buy whatever he wanted.
Rather than saying too much, wasting breath, and easily causing resentment in the person being instructed, it's better to say nothing at all.
She believed that the current balance in her card, which was all her personal savings, could more or less touch Xu Ye's soul.
To put it bluntly, if you don't want to spend the whole next month eating porridge with pickled vegetables, and it's the kind of thin porridge with only a few grains of rice, you need to start saving now.
Xu Ye didn't stand on ceremony and actually took Xu Moran's card, but one thing was unexpected: he didn't take Xu Moran's cash.
Xu Moran insisted on giving it to him, saying, "Ranran, you should keep the cash for yourself first. In case you want to buy me a small gift or create some kind of surprise after get off work, it won't be too difficult for you."
Upon hearing this, Xu Moran picked up her bag and left. Just as she turned around, she looked at Xu Ye's face and said, "Xu Ye, I've realized that your face looks small, but it's actually quite big."
Yes, only someone with a big face could say something so shameless.
One thing is strange: if Xu Ye had said those words to someone else, they would have sounded nothing but shameless, and might even have aroused disgust.
The words came out of Xu Ye's mouth without any sense of incongruity, and as for shamelessness, that was completely unacceptable.
That's probably the advantage of being handsome; because of your good looks, people can overlook many things that should be taken seriously.
As Xu Moran walked out of the Western restaurant, she looked back for some reason.
Xu Ye was playing with her salary card. From her angle, she could only see his profile, which was still handsome and otherworldly. His long eyelashes cast a faint, semi-circular silhouette below his eyelids as he blinked.
This Xu Ye still looked like the Xu Ye she knew, but the aura he exuded was different.
Originally, she wanted to use her job to help Xu Ye investigate his background, but she found that in the vast sea of people, it was already difficult to find someone from just B City, let alone whether Xu Ye was actually from B City.
Many things can't be rushed, Xu Moran thought to herself as she turned her gaze away from Xu Ye. Let's take it slow. She had already asked around to find out if there were any good neurologists who could help Xu Ye recover his memory quickly.
After leaving the Western restaurant, Xu Moran reached into her bag to get her phone to check the time. If she had some time before her afternoon shift, she would take the subway; otherwise, she planned to walk.
After all, with Xu Ye spending money like water around, she has to save as much as she can. If neither of them is frugal, and they also have to support Xiao Mei's dog, next month they'll probably have to eat whatever the dog eats.
Next month, she and Xu Ye will be eating dog meat.
The moment her hand touched the phone, she was puzzled for a second. She always kept her phone in the outer compartment of her bag for easy access, so how did it end up in the back compartment?
After taking out her phone, she looked at it from both sides and found nothing unusual, so she dismissed her earlier doubts.
She put her phone in the innermost compartment. Maybe before she ate, she received a call from an unknown number, only to find that the caller was actually Xu Ye. In the confusion of having him standing right in front of her, she just put it down in the wrong place.
