The painful past is always unbearable to recall. As Jiang Moli thought about it, her eyes reddened again. She drank the cocktail, which she was supposed to sip slowly, in one gulp.
An Jingfeng tried to stop her but it was too late; he could only watch helplessly as she drank the cocktail like it was water.
If neither of them spoke, the atmosphere would be a little awkward. An Jingfeng put down his wine glass and was about to speak when he saw Jiang Moli staring intently at a spot, looking so focused that she seemed to want her eyes to pop out of their sockets.
She spotted an acquaintance, and one who was very important to her: An Jingfeng, a military academy graduate with exceptional observational skills. She quickly made this judgment in her mind.
Sure enough, when he followed Jiang Moli's gaze, he saw a man in his thirties. He wasn't alone; a woman was sitting next to him, and the two were very close.
The woman would occasionally lean close to the man's ear and whisper something, but each time she spoke, it would elicit a laugh from him.
If you think there's no romantic relationship between two people like that, then you're blind.
An Jingfeng shifted his gaze to Jiang Moli's face and asked her, "Is that man your cheating husband?"
Jiang Moli didn't answer him. Her eyes were red and the corners of her eyes were already a little wet. It seemed that she was not far from crying.
An Jingfeng looked at the couple again. Now it was even more outrageous. The woman was feeding the man wine, and the man not only did not refuse, but also put his arm around her waist.
An Jingfeng was the kind of person who would help those in need, and seeing Jiang Moli on the verge of tears only fueled his anger.
He handed Jiang Moli the empty wine glass in front of her and told her, word by word, "Go over there now and smash that glass over your unfaithful husband's head!"
Seeing that Jiang Moli didn't move, he added, "Don't worry, I will protect you!"
If Jiang Moli paid attention, she would have noticed that An Jingfeng was using the word "protect" rather than "help"—a man protecting a woman.
Jiang Moli remained silent for a long while before saying to An Jingfeng, "Thank you for your kindness, but I've come to a realization. What isn't mine will never be mine. Forced relationships are never sweet."
Jiang Moli didn't say the rest of her words. She just let out an "uh" and covered her mouth before rushing to the bathroom.
An Jingfeng didn't follow, but kept watching Zheng Heping.
Not long after, Jiang Moli hadn't returned from the restroom when Zheng Heping, with his arm around the woman's waist, was about to leave.
An Jingfeng put down his wine glass, got up and followed.
Jiang Moli stayed in the bathroom for a long time. She vomited into the sink for a long time, and then cried in front of the mirror for a long time, until her eyes were sore and she had no more tears to cry. Only then did she turn on the tap, scoop up a handful of cold water and wash her face.
As she was leaving the restroom, she glanced back at herself in the mirror. The woman in the mirror, regardless of her facial features, had eyes that were so swollen they looked almost unsettling.
From what point did she become a resentful woman whom even she herself hated?
After leaving the restroom, Jiang Moli walked towards a corner where no one was.
Sigh, looking at the empty seat, I felt a deep sense of loss. But then I thought, it's normal for people to leave. Who wants to see a lifeless, grimacing face?
Just as she was about to leave, her arm was grabbed and a strange voice came from beside her ear, "Miss, would you like to have a drink? It's on me."
Before Jiang Moli could react, the stranger had already dragged her forward and pushed her into a booth in front of the bar.
Jiang Moli thought that the man who insisted on inviting her to drink was either blind or mentally ill, because he actually looked at her and said, "Beautiful lady, do me the honor of having a drink."
If she can be called a beauty now, then there really are no ugly women in this world.
"I won't drink!" Jiang Moli replied curtly, and got up to leave. However, before she could stand up, two hands appeared on her shoulders and pressed her back into the booth.
"Since you're so disrespectful to me!" The man was already lewd-looking, and his sneer made his face repulsive. "Then don't blame me for being ruthless towards women!"
After saying that, he picked up the wine glass and poured it into Jiang Moli's mouth.
No matter how much Jiang Moli struggled, she was no match for a man who had already drunk quite a bit and was in his prime. Her mouth was about to be forced open and the wine was about to be forcibly poured into her mouth.
A hand suddenly appeared, blocking her way between her and the strange man.
As for the wine glass, it was easily taken by the owner of that hand.
The owner of that hand, while toying with the wine glass in his hand, said casually to the lewd man, "It's such a waste to give this wine with so many good ingredients to others. It's all bought with money, so we have to keep it for ourselves!"
The sleazy man, with his neck stiff, said, "Who do you think you are, daring to interfere in my business!"
Soon, An Jingfeng showed him who he really was. He was so fast that even Jiang Moli didn't see it clearly before An Jingfeng grabbed the sleazy man's hand and bent it ninety degrees backward.
With just a little more force, that sleazy man's hand would be 100% broken.
Just a moment ago he was full of heroic spirit, but in the blink of an eye he turned into a coward, begging An Jingfeng for mercy, "Big brother, I was wrong, spare my life, big brother, big brother, I was really wrong, please let me go!"
An Jingfeng didn't let go immediately. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and asked him, "Do you really know you were wrong?"
