Chapter 158 An Old Acquaintance

Xiao Anhe had anticipated Bian Wei's decision. It's not that there are no heroes in this world who dare to forge ahead, but rather that there are too many obstacles that prevent heroes from becoming heroes.

Xiao Anhe said to Bian Wei on the other end of the phone, "Uncle Bian, take care."

He was about to hang up when he realized that the elderly members of the Xiao family couldn't help him much anymore. Even if they were wrong, he was still grateful and treated them with great courtesy.

Bian Wei already felt guilty, and hearing Xiao Anhe's respectful tone only intensified his guilt. Before Xiao Anhe hung up, he called out to him, "Anhe?"

Xiao Anhe's tone remained unchanged, "Uncle Bian, is there anything else?"

Bian Wei sighed and said helplessly, "An He, don't blame Uncle Bian. Uncle Bian really had no choice."

Xiao Anhe smiled and said, "It's alright, I understand."

After saying that, Xiao Anhe quickly hung up the phone. He had only been away from Xu Moran for a short while, but he wanted to get back to her side as soon as possible.

He jogged towards the direction where Xu Moran was standing, and when he saw her still standing in the same old spot, his heart suddenly warmed, and he quickened his already fast pace to run towards Xu Moran.

When he got closer, he saw that Xu Moran was looking down at something in his hand, and he was looking at it very carefully.

With his good eyesight, he immediately spotted what had captivated Xu Moran: a plush tiger.

This kind of plush tiger was a popular toy for children in B City a long time ago, before the economy became so developed. Now it's rarely seen.

Xu Moran was so engrossed in watching that she didn't even notice when Xiao Anhe leaned close to her ear.

Xiao Anhe breathed into her ear and chuckled, "Ranran, what are you looking at? You seem so engrossed."

Xu Moran turned her face abruptly, so fast that, and since Xiao Anhe showed no intention of avoiding her, her lips grazed Xiao Anhe's face.

This man doesn't use any skincare products, so why is his skin so good?

It has to be said that in many ways, Xiao Anhe surpasses Xu Moran, who is a woman herself.

Her face flushed bright red and burning hot. "Xu Ye, have you ever seen this before?"

To ease his embarrassment, Xu Moran picked up the tiger in his hand and showed it to Xiao Anhe.

Xiao Anhe nodded, "I've seen it before, and I even played with it when I was a kid."

"Really?" Xu Moran looked into Xiao Anhe's eyes and asked incredulously.

Xiao Anhe nodded again, "Really."

Xu Moran didn't answer immediately, but stared intently at Xiao Anhe, "You've regained your memories?"

Xiao Anhe is a very meticulous person. If he wanted to hide something from Xu Moran, he would never have revealed the slightest flaw in his words. The reason why Xu Moran was able to sense that something was wrong was entirely because he did it on purpose.

He looked into Xu Moran's eyes and asked her earnestly, "Ranran, if I accidentally lied to you, would you forgive me?"

After he finished speaking, he looked uneasy.

Xu Moran thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded, "Since it was an accident, of course I will forgive you."

Xiao Anhe had barely exhaled half a breath when he heard Xu Moran continue, "Of course, forgiveness has its conditions. I need to see what kind of lies you've told me."

Xiao Anhe murmured, his lips trembling, "For example, my background."

Xu Moran gently touched the cloth tiger. "You have amnesia, which is forgivable."

"Ranran." Xiao Anhe took Xu Moran's hand and said coquettishly, "You're so good to me."

Xu Moran thought of something very important and continued to ask Xiao Anhe, "Have you really regained your memories?"

Xiao Anhe didn't dare to tell the truth all at once. "I remembered some things from my childhood. I remember when I was seven years old, I went to an orphanage and played with a little girl. At that time, she always hugged a cloth tiger and refused to let go. Later, I thought of a way to pretend to fall down and cry loudly. The little girl thought I was in a lot of pain and let me play with her beloved cloth tiger. That was the first time I played with a cloth tiger. I never thought that a cloth tiger would be so fun. When I left the orphanage, I made a promise with the little girl that I would visit her to play when I had time, but I never thought that I would never have the chance again."

After he finished speaking, he looked at Xu Moran's expression and asked in surprise, "Ranran, what's wrong? Why does your face look so strange?"

Xu Moran pursed her lips, then pursed them again, before finally speaking, "Xu Ye, was the orphanage you went to the one in the south of B City?"

Xiao Anhe nodded, "Yes."

He stared at Xu Moran's face for a while, then suddenly slapped his forehead. "Ranran, no wonder you looked familiar the first time I saw you. You're the little girl from back then!"

Xiao Anhe's acting was so good that Xu Moran couldn't see any flaws.

Xu Moran only recognized him after Xiao Anhe mentioned him. Xiao Anhe, on the other hand, recognized Xu Moran the day after she took him in.

Xu Moran chuckled dryly twice. "Xu Ye, I think I can sum up my experience of finding you in the middle of the night in one sentence. Can you guess what it is?"

Xiao Anhe pondered for a moment, "What goes around comes around. I promised to go back to see you back then, but I didn't. So I got slashed and fell by your car, and you picked me up. It's fate, it's all fate!"

On one hand, Xu Moran thought Xu Ye was too smart, and there was no sense of accomplishment in chatting with such a person. On the other hand, he caught a very important piece of information in Xu Ye's words: "You were slashed?"

Xiao Anhe remained calm. "I guessed it myself based on the wound."
