Chapter Thirty-Four: Going Against One's Conscience

Xu Moran took it as him being coquettish, worried that he wouldn't eat well that night. Anyway, eating a good meal wouldn't bankrupt him, so he agreed to whatever the man asked for.

Unbeknownst to her, she was gradually compromising without realizing it.

Xu Ye said in a serious tone, "Ranran, am I the kind of person who would lie against my conscience just to eat what I want?"

Xu Moran, "..."

Looking at Xu Ye's face, he was indeed pouting, looking angry. She quickly tried to appease him, "I didn't mean you were lying, but..."

"And what is it?" Xu Ye pressed on relentlessly when she didn't continue.

"But..." Xu Moran took a deep breath and began to lie against his conscience, "I think my shoulders are indeed broad enough to protect you. What you just said is absolutely right."

Xu Ye stared intently into Xu Moran's eyes and asked her seriously, "Ranran, what you just said is all true?"

Xu Moran swallowed hard, then nodded again, against his conscience, "Really."

Xu Ye's lips curled up slightly on both sides, a smile Xu Moran had never seen him smile like this before. He used to only slightly curl one corner of his lips, which showed that he was indeed very happy.

He smiled and said to Xu Moran, "Ranran, it's so good to know you."

Xu Moran was happy to see him happy. As for what to eat that night, it was just dinner. Since he was in a good mood, why bother? He would just eat whatever came to mind.

Xu Moran was worried about Xiao Mei and thought the elevator was too slow, so she went to take the stairs. Xu Ye naturally followed closely behind her.

As Xu Moran walked out of the supermarket, she saw Xiao Mei still sitting in the same position on the grass, unmoved by the thunder and rain. She was surprised and felt a little sorry for her.

In her opinion, Xiao Mei must have been abandoned before, which is why it is so obedient now.

"Xiao Mei..." Xu Moran called out to Xiao Mei. Xiao Mei had clearly seen her and heard her call long ago, and was about to run towards her. But after moving slightly, it was unclear what was going on in its dog brain. The slight change in its body was quickly reversed.

Fortunately, Xu Moran had excellent eyesight and was able to see Xiao Mei's subtle changes clearly. She wasn't stupid. As she walked towards Xiao Mei, she whispered to the man beside her again, "Don't scare Xiao Mei anymore."

I really don't know what he did to Xiaomei, look how scared he made a dog.

Xu Ye gave Xu Moran a "Okay" as a guarantee.

Xu Moran didn't know that for Xiao Mei, given that its owner had suddenly stopped scaring it and even spoke with a smile every time, its gentle and kind demeanor led it to suspect for a long time that it was going to be made into dog meat hot pot.

During that time, Xiao Mei clung tightly to Xu Moran to save her life, which inevitably aroused Xu Ye's dissatisfaction. Given Xiao Mei's intelligence as a dog, Xu Ye should have threatened her, but he didn't.

Xiao Mei became even more terrified, keeping her tail between her legs all day to minimize her presence. If she could, she would love to be a teacup dog.

Xiao Mei hasn't yet realized that her owner has suddenly become kind and affectionate towards her. When she sees Xu Moran running towards her, no matter how much she knows she should control herself, her instinctive reaction as a dog is still to raise her two front paws and wag her tail so frequently that it makes one worry that she might break it.

When Xu Moran reached it, it ignored everything and wrapped its two front paws around Xu Moran's waist. If it could talk, it would be saying, "Why did you take so long to come? I missed you so much."

Xu Moran already loved dogs, and Xiao Mei's warm and affectionate way of treating it melted her heart even more. She kept stroking Xiao Mei's head and comforting her, "Okay, okay, Xiao Mei, it's all our fault for being gone for so long."

If you really think about it, Xu Moran felt it was worth spending so much time in the supermarket.

If it weren't for Xu Ye, who knows how many people would have bought seafood from this supermarket. Fortunately, Xu Moran wasn't wealthy and was frugal, so he never bought any to eat. Unintentionally, he didn't let his body be harmed by toxic food.

Xiao Mei snuggled up to Xu Moran and acted coquettishly for a while. She wanted to continue acting coquettishly for a while longer, but suddenly thought of something. She let go of the front paws that were on Xu Moran's waist and instead wrapped her arms around Xu Ye's knees, expressing her longing.

Looking into Xu Ye's dog eyes, it clearly stated, "Master, it's been a year since we last met, hasn't it?"
