Chapter 106 Sometimes Sharp-Tongued

Xu Mo thought Xu Ye's sentence was grammatically incorrect, as it made it sound like they knew each other. Besides, weren't they all just children more than twenty years ago?

She had always lived in the orphanage and didn't know any children outside of it. In other words, this grammatically incorrect sentence was something Xu Ye said casually to help comfort the female driver.

She thought this way because she didn't understand Xiao Anhe yet. Xiao Anhe could lie to everyone in the world, but he would never lie to her. If he said that he found her again more than 20 years ago, then he must have known her more than 20 years ago.

“Yes.” Following Xu Ye’s words, she continued to comfort the dejected female driver, “Fate does come at different times. Don’t worry, believe in yourself, you will definitely meet your destiny.”

The female driver nodded repeatedly, her voice trembling with emotion. "Thank you, you're such a kind person. Although I know you're just trying to comfort me, why am I so upset? Just before I got this fare, I was waiting for customers at the subway entrance and saw something that really upset me. Guess what I saw?"

How could Xu Moran know what she saw? He shook his head. "What did you see?"

Could it be that she saw her ex-boyfriend, and he's doing much better than her?

The female driver gritted her teeth, "I saw a very, very handsome man cup the face of an unattractive woman next to him in his hands and kiss her without any regard for others. That's not the key point. The key point is that he was shamelessly carrying the woman's purse in his hand. The hurt I felt was much more severe than the rain falling on my heart!"

Xu Moran fell silent, because she really didn't know how to comfort the female driver.

Xu Ye leaned close to her ear, and as he spoke, his unique breath warmly landed on Xu Moran's earlobe, then entered her ear canal, and finally landed gently yet firmly on her eardrum.

Such an aura, such gentleness—it's no exaggeration to say that Xu Moran's soul was shaken by it.

As she suppressed her trembling heart, she heard Xu Ye say, "Ranran, I think it's very simple to get rid of her. Just accept her request for a free meal."

Xu Moran moved her head to the side, creating some distance between herself and Xu Ye, and looked at him suspiciously, as if to say, "Is this really okay?"

She sensed that the female driver was deeply entangled in her personal relationship problems. As for why the conversation had shifted from refusing fares to personal matters, Xu Mo couldn't recall how the conversation had ended.

Xu Ye smiled and nodded slightly to Xu Moran.

Xu Moran hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at the female driver. "Thank you for giving us a ride today. Since we won the lottery, we can't let your kindness go to waste. Thank you very much."

Along with saying thank you, Xu Moran also bowed slightly.

The fare was a small amount, but the feeling of gratitude was the same.

The female driver, quick-witted and agile, grabbed Xu Moran's hand before she could bend down, repeatedly saying in fear, "You mustn't do that! You mustn't do that! If you do that, I'll really lose my job!"

Xu Moran asked, puzzled, "Why?"

While Xu Moran wasn't paying attention, the female driver quickly glanced at Xu Ye. She was almost in tears. If Xu Moran really bowed and thanked her, she could pack her bags and leave. Being laid off was too terrible.

So, she quickly explained Xu Moran's doubts at an astonishing pace, "Beautiful lady, you're not in the ride-hailing business, so you don't know how tough it is for us ride-hailing drivers. Our biggest advantage over taxis is our service. You were about to bow to me to thank me, but if the ride-hailing company finds out, they'll blacklist me and make sure I can never do ride-hailing again. If I stop doing business, I'll have no source of income, then I won't be able to afford this Audi, and then I'll have even less chance of finding my rich husband... Waaah..."

At the end, the female driver burst into tears.

.

Xu Moran stared intently into her eyes, trying to find out if she was faking crying, but no, she was really crying, and crying very sadly, tears and snot streaming down her face.

Xu Moran was completely speechless.

Is it because the smog in the north has been quite severe recently, drifting all the way and affecting the people living in this southern city?

Otherwise, why do I feel like all the people I've met lately are so strange?

Xu Ye glanced at the female driver quickly, just a fleeting glance. The female driver, who had been crying her heart out, shivered, wiped her face casually with her sleeve, quickly got into the car, started the engine, rolled down the window, and said to Xu Moran, "Beautiful lady, I have another customer. I can't chat with you anymore. Goodbye."

Although Xu Moran was surprised by her sudden change, he still waved to her and smiled, "Goodbye."

After saying goodbye to the somewhat neurotic female driver, Xu Moran walked slowly forward. After a few steps, he seemed to remember something, stopped, and took out his phone.

Xu Ye was already curious about what Xu Moran wanted to buy so late at night, so he went over to look openly.

Xu Moran made no attempt to hide it, openly letting Xu Ye see it.

He saw Xu Moran open Baidu and type a sentence into the search engine, roughly asking what he should bring when visiting a grave.

Xu Moran is an orphan. Xu Ye knew from the night she was "picked up" that she had no relatives and only a few friends. Who was she buying things for to pay respects at their grave?

He didn't know that.

Xu quickly browsed through the answers that popped up in the search engine, but none of them satisfied her. After thinking for a while, she went back to considering what she should prepare for a young girl's grave visit.

Xu Ye turned his head away and didn't continue looking.
