Chapter Ninety-Nine: So-called Experts

"So it's amnesia, huh? You need to find your memories!" Li Shaojun's voice suddenly rose a lot, his eyes fixed on Pei Hang.

He looked at Pei Hang with his eyes, asking why he hadn't told him sooner that it was to solve the problem of amnesia, causing him to prepare in the wrong direction.

Pei Hang looked into his eyes and exclaimed in surprise, "Dr. Li, what's wrong with your eyes? Why are you blinking so much? Should we go to an ophthalmologist?"

Li Shaojun rolled his eyes at Pei Hang. Pei Hang was always vengeful, how could he have forgotten that?

"Thank you for your concern, Dr. Pei," Li Shaojun replied through gritted teeth. "My eyelids twitch frequently; it's a congenital hereditary condition. I don't need to see a doctor; it will stop twitching after a while."

Pei Hang feigned concern and asked again, "Dr. Li, are you sure there's really no problem? There are patients waiting for you right now."

Li Shaojun nodded vigorously, "I'm absolutely certain there won't be any problems."

Xu Moran sighed and rubbed her forehead. She felt like she had entrusted the wrong person this time. They were all unreliable. She couldn't let the two doctors argue anymore. She had to get back to the important matter of helping Xu Ye with his diagnosis.

“Um…” she interrupted, “Dr. Li, are you sure you don’t need to examine Xu Ye?”

Normally, even for the most common cold or fever, doctors would check the patient's eyelids, throat, and take their temperature. How come for a serious neurological problem, they don't even need to do these basic checks?

Li Shaojun swallowed several times before forcing himself to answer Xu Moran's question, "Neurology...neurology...unlike other departments, those external examinations are useless, I'm thinking..."

"Damn it," Li Shaojun cursed Pei Hang inwardly. Making a urologist impersonate a neurologist was already difficult enough, let alone impersonating an expert.

.

He said that given Pei Hang's character, he wouldn't be given any good tasks. Now that he thinks about it, he'd rather deal with that rich second-generation guy who keeps pestering him to be his girlfriend.

One more thing, the young man sitting on the sofa was absolutely right in his sarcasm; this so-called expert really is a brick in the ass.

Dr. Li, who had been forced to accept the label of "expert," was surprised to find that things weren't as he had imagined. His expression turned strange, and he didn't know how to continue the story.

At this moment, Pei Hang would not stand idly by. He interrupted Dr. Li's words and said to Xu Moran, "Officer Xu, based on my understanding of Dr. Li, the biggest difference between him and ordinary experts is that his eyes are like X-rays. He can make accurate judgments without any examinations. Otherwise, he would be too unworthy of his ancestral good eyes."

Seeing Xu Moran's eyes widen to an extreme as he spoke, Pei Hang realized he had exaggerated a bit and quickly added, "Of course, no matter how accurate Dr. Li's judgment is, it still depends on us providing accurate information."

If Xu Moran was initially surprised by Li Zhuanjia's diagnostic approach of asking about the illness without examining the patient, then she was completely stunned by Pei Gongzi's two sentences.

Could it be because she hasn't left City B much, and is therefore ignorant, unaware that there are miraculous doctors like Li Shaojun in City B?

She glanced at Pei Hang, then at Li Shaojun, her tone filled with uncertainty that anyone could sense, and asked Li Shaojun again, "Dr. Li, are you sure we don't need to get a brain CT scan or something?"

Li, the expert, straightened his chest and nodded firmly, "Really, it's not necessary!"

He kept winking at Pei Hang guiltily. What should he do?

What if the policewoman in front of him insists on getting a brain CT scan? He's a urologist, he can't order a brain CT scan.

Pei Hang finally gave him a reassuring look, meaning that with him there, things wouldn't get out of control. He just needed to make Xu Momo believe that the people she brought had only temporarily lost their memories, nothing more.

For Li Shaojun, if he didn't want the hospital leaders to discover that he, a urologist, was pretending to be a neurosurgeon, and if he didn't want to be punished or lose his job, he had to grit his teeth and keep going, no matter how difficult the act was.

"Officer Xu, right?" He recalled Pei Hang's address to the woman not far away, and then called out to Xu Moran, "There's a Chinese saying, 'If you employ someone, don't doubt them; if you doubt someone, don't employ them.' Since you've chosen me to help diagnose your boyfriend, you should trust every decision I make. If you disagree with what I say, then goodbye, don't bother coming back!"

When Li Shaojun said these words, he was very individualistic. In fact, his hands were trembling and cold sweat was already breaking out on his back.

He was at his wit's end, and he was putting himself in a desperate situation to try and survive.

Xu Moran didn't react with anger, but Xu Ye was furious. He jumped up from the sofa, grabbed Xu Moran's hand, and tried to walk out the door.

Pei Hang cursed inwardly, realizing his carelessness. How could he have forgotten that Xu Moran was not someone anyone could bully?

He kept winking at Li Shaojun in his anxiety, and Li Shaojun was also extremely anxious, fearing that Xu Ye would complain about him in a fit of rage.

Once a complaint is filed, his pretense of being a neurology expert will become the talk of the town, known throughout the entire hospital. And once the whole hospital knows, the nurse Xiaoyu, whom he's had a crush on for so long, will surely find out too. How will he ever have the face to pursue her again?

.

"Don't go!" In his desperation, love gave him strength and courage, and he roared at the door.

Xu Moran hadn't originally intended to leave. Unlike Xu Ye, who knew the truth all along, she thought that experts, after all, would have more personality and temper than ordinary doctors.

In other words, what Li Shaojun just said was normal, and questioning an expert is indeed an insult to them.
