Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Bang——"

Qin Zunyue shot a rabbit in the distance. Tong Le jumped out from the half-man-high grass, picked up the rabbit and ran back to Qin Zunyue.

As soon as he came back, he saw Qin Zunyue squinting his eyes and looking to the side, while his hand touched the outside of his thigh, where a delicate dagger was stuffed.

So she also held her breath and concentrated until a black mist appeared in her sight.

A cold light flashed, and before the thing could move, Qin Zunyue's dagger had already rushed towards it at a rapid speed!

Ignoring the burns caused by the black fog on his hands, Qin Zunyue fiercely thrust the dagger into the black fog, and then twisted it with force!

The tip of the knife pried something open with a slight snapping sound.

"Hurry, hurry, check the color of the pill!"

The black mist gradually dissipated, and a black round bead floated in the air. Tong Le sighed in disappointment and said, "Why isn't it golden?"

"Okay, it's not that easy to get the golden elixir." Qin Zunyue patted her head, and the three of them began to walk back along the mark.

"Brother Qin!"

Three people came running from the opposite side. They were the other three teammates who had acted separately from them.

Qiao Lang carried a wild boar. Zheng Shu and Yan Liao nodded at them, and they prepared to return to the cave they had found in advance to process the prey.

In order to avoid the smell of blood attracting monsters, it is forbidden to handle wild animals in the safe city, so they can only deal with them simply under these conditions.

Fortunately, they were already very skilled and soon returned to the safe city while chatting. It was getting dark and all the people who went out hunting came back during this period. There was already a long line at the city gate.

Several people were first searched in turn, and only after confirming that they had returned the rented guns and bullets were they allowed to enter the city by scanning their faces.

Dinner was still a chaotic mess. Qin Zunyue put the last piece of meat that Qiao Lang and Tong Le were fighting over into Yan Liao's bowl and put down his chopsticks. "We're going to Congshan tomorrow. This time we plan to walk up and fight monsters. Don't forget to pack your things."

Cong Mountain was once a famous tourist attraction in Tianhai City, not far from the Safe City. After the end of the world, many animals appeared on the mountain, so the foot of the mountain became the first choice for hunting in Tianhai Safe City.

The next day, several people were ready to go. They first sent some of the pork they hunted yesterday to the shelter. Wang Haitong looked at their equipment, sighed, and asked them to be careful.

There were still many people outside the city, most of them were hunting wild animals outside the city as usual, and only a very few were monster hunters.

Qin Zunyue signed and received the guns and bullets and distributed them to them. He also checked each of their daggers to see if they were sharp before officially setting off.

Congshan.

Qin Zunyue was wearing a black vest, and his strong arms were waving constantly to cut the plants in front of him to clear the way for his teammates. Qiao Lang held a gun behind him, followed by Tong Le and Zheng Shuwei Zhirong, and Yan Liao was responsible for covering the rear.

"I think I climbed this mountain when I was very young, but I couldn't climb anymore, so my parents took turns carrying me up." Zheng Shu looked at the unrecognizable mountain, his tone revealing nostalgia.

Qin Zunyue also looked around and was about to sigh that things had changed and people had changed, but suddenly his expression became serious and he drew the dagger from his waist.

The others also reacted quickly, took out their weapons and looked over there—

A ball of black mist stood there quietly.

Qin Zunyue immediately rushed to the monster with a dagger in his hand. The dagger, raised high, quickly sank into the black fog, but his arm passed through the black fog, leaving only bursts of burning pain, and did not pierce the monster's weak point as usual.

The attack missed, and the black fog wrapped around him again, trying to completely cover him. Qin Zunyue dodged to the side and avoided the attack of the black fog. At the same time, Yan Liao raised his gun and shot the monster.

But it's useless. If you can't hit the monster's weak point, you can't hurt them at all.

The black fog dissipated and appeared behind Yan Liao.

"careful!"

Tong Le grabbed the knife and stabbed it, but it missed as well.

"Fuck, why can't I get it stuck?"

The black fog dissipated again.

Several people looked around vigilantly, fearing that black fog would suddenly appear.

Qin Zunyue held his breath and felt the wind blowing gently beside him, so he raised his hand and stabbed, but the angle was a little crooked than before training. However, this tiny difference in distance made him feel the tip of the knife hit something hard. He followed his intuition and slashed past the monster's weak point, and then felt the tip of the knife stuck in a gap.

This is it!

Qin Zunyue exerted force and inserted the tip of the knife into the gap, then turned his wrist slightly, and click - a slight but familiar sound appeared.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and watched the black mist dissipate, leaving behind a golden bead.

"Holy crap!" Tong Le jumped up in shock. "Gold! I'm so lucky today."

Qin Zunyue picked up the beads and handed them to Wei Zhirong: "Keep them well."

Wei Zhirong nodded and carefully put it into his first aid kit. Then he looked at Qin Zunyue's injured and bleeding hand after it was wrapped in black mist and said, "Brother Qin, let me bandage it for you."

Qin Zunyue: "...No need, I can do it myself."

Wrapping the bandage around his forearm, Qin Zunyue began to review his actions. "I feel like the monster's weakness isn't directly above it this time. Lele, do you remember where you attacked just now?"

Tong Le shook his head: "I was too anxious just now, and I can't remember whether I attacked its weakness from the same angle as before."

Qin Zunyue nodded and said, "Let's go on. Pay more attention later."

After a brief reorganization, they started climbing up the mountain again.

The purpose of climbing Mount Cong was not to reach the top. Qin Zunyue was searching for monsters everywhere while walking.

The others had the same idea as him, so they didn't rush on their way. They walked slowly while searching for monsters.

When it got dark, Qin Zunyue cleared a piece of land and said to the exhausted crowd, "Let's stop here today. Get ready to pack up, eat, and go to bed early."

After setting up the tent, Qin Zunyue sprinkled some insect repellent powder around it to prevent wild animals and insects and snakes from approaching.

Several people sat together and ate dry food. The younger ones started bickering while eating. Zheng Shu ignored them and glanced at the silent Qin Zunyue.

"What's wrong with you today? You seem to be worried all day long." Zheng Shu noticed that something was wrong with Qin Zunyue and sat down next to him.

"I was thinking about the monster I met today."

Qin Zunyue picked up a branch and scratched it on the ground: "Do you still remember what I used to do?"

Zheng Shu paused, "How could I forget?"

"Before that incident, I'd encountered monsters of various levels, but never anything like this. We've always classified monsters based on the amount of damage they cause to humans, but now I suspect that monsters may have evolved in other ways."

"That's just your guess, it's not even confirmed."

"Yes, this is just speculation, but even if it has really evolved, we can't stop it at the moment." Qin Zunyue threw away the branch, stopped the few people who were still fighting, and arranged the night watch shifts.

This was not their first time spending the night outside, and the six of them skillfully divided into two teams.

The first half of the night was occupied by Qin Zun, Yue Tong Le and Yan Liao, and the second half was occupied by the remaining three.

Because of that guess, Qin Zunyue was always on edge, so even though he only had to guard the first half of the night, when the three people in the second half of the night got up to take over, he still followed them on guard for a while, until the sky was slightly bright, and then he entered the tent.

Before I fell asleep completely, I heard a noisy sound outside.

Qin Zunyue stood up swiftly, grabbed the dagger beside his pillow and rushed out.

The area where they were camping was surrounded.

They were surrounded by countless black fogs, but they were not too worried. After all, they had been fighting monsters for many years and were very skilled in killing monsters.

The monster began to attack them. Seeing the situation, several people did not hesitate and pounced on it.

Qin Zunyue realized something was wrong immediately after he took action. He shouted, "Their weakness is not where it was before!"

Damn it.

Several people cursed in their hearts at the same time.

The experience they had gained from fighting monsters in their early years was of no use. They could only dodge in a panic. After killing a few monsters by chance, they discovered something even more hopeless: the weaknesses of these monsters were all in different locations!

Qiao Lang dodged a black fog that rushed towards him, but was accidentally tripped by a stone. In desperation, he swung his hand, but who knew that he hit the weak spot of the black fog above him.

He killed the monster, got up from the ground and said, "Be careful, some of the weak points are even at the bottom!"

There were a large number of monsters, and their attack speed was faster than the previous low-level monsters. Sometimes they were unable to dodge, and the parts covered by the black fog were more or less injured.

The few people who had been chatty at first gradually fell silent. The silence filled the atmosphere with a seriousness. Qin Zunyue moved his shoulders again and said, "This won't work. If you can't win, just run away. Xiao Yan, you lead the way, and I'll cover you."

Yan Liao nodded and raised his gun to disperse the black fog in front. Zheng Shu and others were not interested in fighting. Although bullets were not so easy to kill monsters, most monsters would choose to scatter after being shot.

After running for a while, they found that their speed was far slower than that of the black fog that dissipated and gathered again. With this style of fighting, the bullets were consumed too quickly, and in the end they still had to kill them one by one.

So they could only endure the burning pain, find the monster's weakness in the black fog, and then kill the monster in one fell swoop.

Tong Le gradually became exhausted and her dodging speed became slower and slower. Just when she took a chance and killed a monster, another monster appeared behind her.

"Le Le!" Qin Zunyue shouted and rushed towards Tong Le quickly.

But there was a figure that was faster than him. He watched Tong Le being lifted into the sky. Then a golden light flashed, and the surrounding black fog dissipated, leaving only beads - some of the golden ones were particularly conspicuous.

Tong Le was put down. Before he could react, he was already mumbling to the white figure, "Mom, I saw a ghost..."

Qin Zunyue walked quickly forward, pulled Tong Le behind him, and looked at the man warily.

The man in white was quite good-looking, with a pretty face like a beautiful woman, with slightly raised eyes and thin lips slightly pursed under his high nose bridge. He had a thin figure but an upright posture. He had long hair, which was tied into a high ponytail with a jade crown. When the wind blew, the hair moved with the wind. But his clothes were a bit strange. The white clothes were just like the ones in the TV dramas I watched as a child, with the sleeves fluttering and the air of an immortal.

It's so weird.

Not only was he dressed strangely, but if that wasn't their collective nightmare, this person seemed to be dragging Tong Le... and flying!

While everyone was staring at the man in white, the man was also looking at Qin Zunyue, who was standing in front of him in a black vest.

Qin Zunyue had a tough appearance, a nose like a hanging gall bladder, and eyebrows like halberds. Although he was handsome, he seemed too intimidating, making people want to look away. However, the man had no intention of avoiding it. When his eyes met Qin Zunyue's, he raised his chin slightly.

After a moment of silence, the man ignored Tong Le, who was still staring at him with wide eyes. He simply lowered his head to straighten his sleeves, then looked up again to meet Qin Zunyue's gaze. "My name is Liu Huaizhao. Could you please tell me what year it is?"
