Extra: Awakening

Extra: Awakening

Time flows slowly outside the special case team's lounge. The sun rises and the moon sets, and the city lights outside the window flicker on and off, like a silent hourglass.

Feng Tianning's consciousness sank into a warm chaos.

I don’t know how much time passed, maybe a few days and nights, or maybe even longer, a subtle change began to occur.

That was not a violent disturbance, but a change in the undercurrent beneath the deep sea.

The warmth that enveloped her—the power belonging to Feng Yangxi that continuously nurtured her broken origin—had undergone extremely subtle adjustments in its flow rhythm.

It is no longer just a one-way indoctrination and repair, but more like a guidance, a gentle and continuous call, trying to touch a string of the same origin deep in her long-dormant soul.

At first it was an extremely faint resonance, like a stone thrown into an ancient well, creating almost imperceptible ripples.

Then, the ripples began to have their own frequency.

A dry and burning sensation first emerged from the depths of the throat, subtle but clear, piercing through the chaotic envelope.

Next came the feeling of heaviness in the limbs, as if emerging from deep water and feeling gravity again, with every inch of bone and muscle feeling sore and stiff.

The warmth covering the back of her hand became real, no longer a vague background perception, but a contact with clear outlines and temperature.

Her eyelashes trembled ever so slightly, like butterfly wings trying to break free from the morning dew.

This subtle change did not escape Feng Yangxi's perception.

More physiological sensations came flooding in.

The smell of disinfectant in my nose, the rough feel of the bed sheets beneath me, and the vague city noise coming from afar but almost obscured by the walls.

These earthly, trivial signals roughly pulled her out of pure nothingness.

Her brows unconsciously furrowed, fighting against the uncomfortable awakening.

A very faint, dry, almost inaudible moan escaped from his throat.

Almost at the same time, there was a very light knock on the door of the lounge.

Three times, with habitual caution.

Without waiting for a response, the door handle was slowly turned.

Zhang Lan also poked his head in. His eyes first quickly swept over Feng Yangxi's back as usual, and then fell on the bed.

The next moment, he froze at the door, his eyes suddenly widening. He stared at Feng Tianning's slightly furrowed brows and the eyelashes that seemed to move, holding his breath.

He suddenly retracted his head, and his low, distorted voice, which was distorted by extreme excitement, exploded in the corridor:

"She moved! Did she just move?!"

The sound of footsteps approached in a chaotic manner.

Xuan Gou Chen's figure directly knocked Zhang Lanye away. Her eyes swept across Feng Tianning's face, carotid artery, and Feng Yangxi's hand clasped with hers like a searchlight. Her breathing was unusually rapid.

Fu Ruxuan pushed them aside and rushed in, covering her mouth tightly with both hands. Tears instantly welled up in her eyes, swirling around in her eyes, but she didn't dare let them fall and make a sound.

Pei Duyan followed at the end, his face solemn, his eyes sharply assessing the situation in the room, finally fixing his gaze on Feng Yangxi with a silent question.

Feng Yangxi didn't turn around, but he nodded very slightly. This action made the hearts of all the people holding their breath at the door suddenly tighten.

"Consciousness is returning." His voice was low and steady, but like a stone thrown into a quiet lake.

"She needs quiet now."

This sentence was like a spell, freezing the excited people at the door instantly. Even Fu Ruxuan's tears stopped at the edge of her eyes.

All sounds were completely erased, leaving only the regular ticking of the instruments, amplified countless times, and each other's frantic heartbeats.

In this dead silence, Feng Tianning's eyelashes trembled again, this time with a larger amplitude and more determination.

They struggled hard, like young shoots breaking free from the mud, and slowly opened a gap.

The blurry light poured in, causing her eyes to close immediately.

After adjusting for a moment, she tried again, opening her eyes little by little.

His sight was sluggish at first, staring blankly at the ceiling, then slowly and laboriously shifting. A blurry figure swayed at the door, its outline gradually becoming clearer.

Zhang Lan's face was tense, and Fu Ruxuan's eyes were red from trying to hold back tears...

Finally, she turned her gaze with difficulty to the bedside and met the eyes that were staring at her quietly and without blinking.

Her lips moved slightly, the chapped lips rubbing against each other, but no sound came out, only a slight airflow.

Her sight was filled with blurry, swaying figures, and the familiar outline of the ceiling just a few feet away. Her dazed pupils slowly focused, and the first thing that became clear was the dark, upright figure beside the bed, and his calm gaze fixed on her.

Her lips moved, rubbing against each other, but no sound came out.

"Water." Feng Yangxi whispered.

Qin Guan, who was at the door, turned around immediately and quickly but silently poured a cup of warm water. Feng Yangxi carefully lifted the back of Feng Tianning's neck, brought the rim of the cup to her lips, and very slowly fed her a small sip.

The warm water moistened her dry throat and brought a sense of real life. Feng Tianning's vision finally became clearer, and she saw the door

Her eyes slowly swept over Zhang Lanye, Xuan Gouchen, Fu Ruxuan, and Qin Guan, finally landing back on Feng Yangxi's face. Very slowly, she blinked ever so slightly, like a confirmation signal.

Everyone was almost speechless when they saw this scene.

This was a small action that Feng Tianning didn't even notice on a normal day.

At the same time, a suppressed gasp sounded from the door.

Fu Ruxuan's tears finally burst out and flowed silently.

Qin Guan punched himself hard on the thigh, clenched his teeth, and his eyes turned red.

Xuan Gou Chen exhaled long and extremely slowly, and his tense shoulders relaxed.

Feng Tianning tried to speak, but only a hoarse friction sound came out of his throat.

"No rush."

Feng Yangxi's voice was still low, but it was permeated with an imperceptible hint of relaxation.

"You've been asleep for a long time. Take your time."

He helped her lie down again, and brushed her brow with his fingertips again. A more soothing and gentle force surged in, soothing the shock and fatigue brought about by her waking up.

Feng Tianning closed his eyes obediently.

Everything in the outside world was cut off. There were no immediate tasks to attend to, no imminent threats.

She no longer thought about anything.

Just exist, feeling that your soul is gradually recovering.

Feng Tianning couldn't help but smile.

It's great to see everyone is still alive.

Outside the window, the morning light is quietly replacing the city lights, and daybreak has arrived.

It was another ordinary day. In the corridor, suppressed sobs of ecstasy and sighs of relief finally began to spread softly.
