Chapter 30
A fresh, finger-length wound lay on Wu Shiyan's cheek, a thin scab forming over it, making his face appear even more sinister. Even as he spoke such blunt words, the dangerous aura emanating from him was impossible to ignore.
Qi Yu breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much calmer. She closed the book, stood up, and placed her hand on Wu Shiyan's forehead.
She suspected that Wu Shiyan had been caught in the rain last night and hadn't slept, which caused him to have a fever and become mentally impaired.
But unexpectedly, his skin was ice-cold, not like anything was wrong.
Wu Shiyan pulled Qi Yu's hand away, leaned closer, and pressed his forehead against hers. His usually dim eyes were now shining brightly: "I'm fine. I slept in the palace for two days, and I can go a day and a night without sleep without any problems."
As for his illness, the imperial physician said he was in grave danger, but he didn't care, or even take it seriously.
He has experienced even the most severe injuries, yet he always manages to turn the tide at crucial moments.
Qi Yu stared into Wu Shiyan's eyes; only now did she have a chance to look at him properly.
He looks much better than yesterday, but definitely not as good as he was on the street that day.
Qi Yu pursed her lips and distanced herself from Wu Shiyan. She reached out and pulled off his belt, placing her hands on his firm waist before moving to his chest and back, not sparing his arms as well. She was checking Wu Shiyan for any other injuries besides the wound on his face and the small cuts on his hands.
After all, Wu Shiyan had slept for two whole days, and anyone could tell something was wrong.
Wu Shiyan's breathing became heavy when Qi Yu pulled off his belt, and he watched helplessly as those hands touched all over his body. Even though he knew what Qi Yu was doing, his heart still felt an uncontrollable itch.
Like a feather gently brushing past, it stirs up a sense of unease.
He wanted Ah Yu to examine him not through his thin undergarment, but directly against his skin.
His physique wasn't bad, and on the first night he seduced Ayu, Ayu's hands often landed on him.
After two more instances of comforting her, Wu Shiyan knew clearly that Ayu enjoyed that kind of thing.
If he can bring joy to Ayu, then today's visit will not have been in vain.
Of course, Wu Shiyan also indulged in pleasure. Once he got involved with Ayu, he became wildly excited and intensely passionate. However, Ayu would stop caring about him after she had her fun, so he could only forcefully suppress it.
In her heart, she kept cursing the thing for being useless and for not being liked by Ayu.
After checking that Wu Shiyan had no wounds, Qi Yu felt relieved.
Just as she was about to back away, Wu Shiyan, who had regained his composure, grabbed her sleeve.
"Let's read a book together."
Qi Yu's face flushed red instantly; she knew without a doubt what he was thinking about.
Qi Yu reminded her, "This is the study."
Wu Shiyan had already hooked his little finger with Qi Yu's: "Okay, let's read together."
He turned the book over and then laid it flat on the table.
Qi Yu was curious about his actions, so she turned to the side and glanced at him.
Then they discovered that this page happened to describe a well-bred lady who, worried that her husband was overworking himself, brought him a nourishing soup and told the maid not to come along, so she personally delivered it to his study.
Whether the soup was ultimately drunk or not is unknown, but at this stage, the two were deeply in love, and the wife's actions were tantamount to a lamb being led to the slaughter, with no way to escape.
Wu Shiyan silently wrapped his arms around Qi Yu's waist, buried his head in her neck and shoulder and sniffed: "Keep your voice down, no one will notice."
His greed surged, and only Ayu's presence could soothe it.
Qi Yu was not surprised at all; it was most appropriate for them to discuss this.
She didn't feel bored at all; in fact, she felt a little thirsty when Wu Shiyan got close.
The rain has stopped and the sky is clear and blue, but it's best not to let anyone find out.
Just as described in the storybook, Wu Shiyan sat in a chair and pulled Qi Yu into his arms, her back pressed tightly against his chest.
Wu Shiyan wrapped one arm around Qi Yu's waist and stroked her face with the other.
The large hand measuring Qi Yu's cheek exerted a little force, forcing Qi Yu to turn her face to the side and kiss Wu Shiyan behind her.
Unlike the previous two times when Qi Yu took the lead, this time Wu Shiyan's body language exuded a strong presence.
Qi Yu's eyelashes trembled slightly. In front of her was plenty of light, and the room had only an incense burner and no obstruction of view. If someone pushed open the door and entered, they could see her after taking a few steps.
This gave her a great sense of insecurity. Even though Wu Shiyan was pressed against her from behind without any gap, and even though Wu Shiyan's kisses drew most of her attention away, she still felt nervous.
It will be discovered...
Qi Yu's heart tightened slightly, and she needed to open her mouth to breathe in order to calm her overwhelming emotions. Her vision went completely white.
Her hands were tightly clasped around Wu Shiyan's arm.
Fortunately, this position did not last long. The moment before Wu Shiyan kissed her, he picked her up, turned her around, and made her face him.
Because the husband in the story could no longer bear not seeing his wife's face, he turned her around.
Wu Shiyan patiently straightened Qi Yu's clothes so that they wouldn't get messed up sitting on him.
Qi Yu was now looking dazed, staring blankly at him, letting him do whatever he wanted, and then helplessly resting her head on his shoulder.
Wu Shiyan chuckled softly and gently stroked her face.
Qi Yu recalled the contents of the storybook she had just glanced at. The storybook described how the wife's clothes were peeled off layer by layer as her husband kissed and touched her with his fingers. However, the storybook was set at night, and they could put on their outer robes and carry each other to the bedroom. But she and Wu Shiyan could not.
Before Qi Yu could think further, Wu Shiyan's fingers landed on her back and slid down little by little.
Then, delicate kisses followed, landing on her face and neck.
They were like those in the storybooks, yet somewhat different. Wu Shiyan did not undress her, but instead stroked her body through the fabric, from her thin back to her most sensitive waist.
It's like plucking the strings of a musical instrument.
When Wu Shiyan's lips landed on her collarbone, Qi Yu felt her clothes come undone.
Wu Shiyan closed his eyes, and the small garment that Ayu had used to wrap herself flashed before his eyes. He couldn't help but kiss it a few more times.
...
Qi Yu got off Wu Shiyan and ran a few steps to the side. She turned her back and her fingers trembled as she adjusted her clothes.
Her face flushed red, not understanding why a kiss here alone made her so embarrassed.
It took her a while to recover.
Qi Yu calmed herself down and looked at Wu Shiyan. The person who had been staring at her back unconsciously turned his face away the moment she looked over.
Qi Yu was both angry and amused. She urged, "Your Majesty, you've already kissed, so you should leave now."
With the last bit of strength Wu Shiyan exerted, she couldn't guarantee what kind of obvious marks he would leave on her if he stayed any longer.
Wu Shiyan was in the wrong, but he still lingered around Qi Yu for a while before reluctantly leaving.
We have to leave now; the maid who's going to serve tea is almost here.
There was a small bronze mirror propped up on the shelf in the study. After confirming that there were no red marks on her neck, Qi Yu calmly asked the maid to put down the tea.
She put the storybook back in its original place and picked up a real travelogue to distract herself.
As it was almost time for dinner, Qi Yu came out of the study.
Pei Jin also got up at that time, and the two of them had a meal together.
Pei Jin asked, "What book did Madam read this morning?"
He only realized when he woke up that the books in the study were a bit of a hodgepodge, and some of them were not suitable for reading.
Qi Yu then told her the title of the book.
Pei Jin thought to himself that it was alright.
His gaze swept over Qi Yu, and suddenly he noticed a patch of red under her clothes. Remembering that Qi Yu was not fully recovered, Pei Jin said, "Madam, there is a red patch under your collarbone. I will go and get you some medicine."
Qi Yu pressed her fingers against her clothes and lowered her head slightly, trying to see more clearly.
She explained, "It was a mosquito bite."
Pei Jin found the ointment and was about to hand it to Qi Yu, but then remembered Qi Yu's haughty nature and the fact that Qiu Kui wasn't here, so he avoided Qi Yu's hand and said, "I'll do it."
Qi Yu did not refuse. Her morning emotions had dissipated, and her mood was now as calm as a lake.
Besides, she really couldn't see, so only Pei Jin could apply the medicine.
Pei Jin applied the cool ointment to Qi Yu's skin. He slightly pulled open her collar and spread the ointment evenly, only to find that the red marks under her collarbone were even more numerous.
And then...
Although he was inexperienced, he was not a clueless young man.
Qi Yu was covered in marks, and regardless of who left the marks under her collarbone, she calmly let him apply the medicine.
Pei Jin held his finger in the air, looked at Qi Yu, his gaze unreadable: "Madam, please do it yourself."
Qi Yu: "Okay."
She reached for the ointment.
But then Pei Jin suddenly changed his mind and said, "Never mind, Madam can't see it. It wouldn't be good if it got on her clothes."
Qi Yu withdrew her hand, even more confused.
Immediately afterwards, she saw Pei Jin calmly turn his gaze to her, his hand, which was covered in ointment, slid in circles from below her collarbone toward her heart.
Until my fingers touched the uneven skin.
Qi Yu suddenly realized something, and before she could refuse, Pei Jin said, "Madam, this doesn't look like a mosquito bite, it looks more like a rash."
"I'm afraid I'll offend you, Madam."
Qi Yu stammered, "Between husband and wife, what offense is there?"
Pei Jin smiled and said, "That makes sense."
Qi Yu then realized that Wu Shiyan had been trying to conceal his true intentions by leaving nothing on his upper body, but he was much more unrestrained under his clothes.
One spot on her skin was still slightly stinging.
Pei Jin's slightly cool yet warm fingertips circled Qi Yu's stinging skin, pressing lightly twice.
Qi Yu's thoughts were interrupted, and her attention returned to Pei Jin.
He lowered his eyes, his nose was high and straight, and his lips were very pale. At this moment, he looked extremely serious and meticulous.
However, Qi Yu had a vague feeling that something was wrong, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
After spreading the ointment evenly, Pei Jin's forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat. He withdrew his fingers and breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "All done."
Qi Yu sat down in front of Pei Jin and suddenly asked, "Pei Lang, is the gold hairpin I lost the other day with you?"
"In my study."
Why won't you give it back to me?
Pei Jin didn't raise his eyes, his voice clear and cold: "The hairpin is dangerous. There can be no next time I personally do something like this."
Qi Yu felt relieved, but reluctantly agreed.
This matter was a secret shared only between the couple, and she only deduced it by accidentally discovering the hairpin's ingenuity.
Pei Jinruo realized that she was not Zhao Wanyi, so it was impossible for her to blurt it out so quickly.
