When they got home, Xia Youyou had just woken up. She frowned because of the stomachache, and when she saw him open the door and come in, she reached out for him to hold her.
"Where have you been? The bed is cold."
Qi Siling quickly closed the door and strode over, carefully pulling her into his arms and leaning against the headboard. His big hands reached in and touched the hot water bottle that she had kicked aside. He jokingly helped her push her messy hair back. "I asked mom to fill your hot water bottle, why did you kick it away? Who do you blame?"
Xia Youyou took a deep breath of his refreshing scent and fell silent in his embrace. In her sleep, she felt something burning hot, and she kicked it away because she felt uncomfortable. She didn't expect that she would lose her source of heat and woke up from the cold.
Seeing that she didn't say anything, he tilted his head down to try to see her expression, but she noticed and buried her head in his chest, preventing him from seeing.
"What's wrong? Be good."
"I feel so uncomfortable!" She said muffledly in his chest. Her stomach was always aching and she felt cold from the inside out, which made it impossible for her to sleep.
Qi Siling felt so distressed when he heard this that he let her go, stood up and took off his clothes before he lifted the quilt and held her in his arms again.
The heat source returned, and Xia Youyou hugged him tightly back comfortably.
"Go on sleeping. I'm not going anywhere today. I'll just hold you here, okay?"
Xia Youyou shook her head, wondering if he was there just now, "Where did you go just now?"
He patted her back and told her the truth.
Hearing this, Xia Youyou opened her sleepy eyes. Because of her sleepiness, her double eyelids seemed deeper and her eyes became bigger. "Someone stole something?"
He pressed her restless little head back into his arms, not wanting her to worry about such trivial matters. "Don't worry about it, just leave it to us."
She leaned back, her mind clear. Her fingers unconsciously picked at the buttons of his shirt. After a moment of silence, she said, "Looks like someone should be assigned to guard the materials tonight. I didn't expect anyone to steal them."
Qi Siling held her little hand, placed it against her lips and soothed her, "Don't overthink it. No one would have thought of this. Don't blame yourself. Wait until your brother comes back, and we'll take turns guarding him."
She shook her head, her hand at his lips, and began to play with his stubble again. "How about this? Go ask your brother to have the bunk beds cleared out. The weather's getting warmer, so the workers can live there instead of running back and forth every day." Thinking of this, she pushed herself up and leaned over his chest, her elbows resting on his chest, her big eyes sparkling. "If anyone else comes to steal tonight, we can catch them in the act."
Qi Siling enjoyed her little movements, holding her excited little head in his hands, "I just told you, the most important thing now is your body, leave these things to us men, don't worry about it." After making sure that she would not shake her head again, he leaned over and kissed her as if rewarding her, "Just lie down and I'll go talk to your brother. But don't let the workers stay here tonight. They must go back to pack some luggage and tell their families. The three of us are enough for the night."
Xia Youyou nodded and tried to get off him, but he held her tightly and refused to let go. "What are you doing?" Seeing that he refused to let go, she simply lay on him, her face rubbing against his neck.
A warm and sweet atmosphere permeated the small room. Xia Youyou had never imagined she would be so dependent on someone. In the years she had spent at the base, no one had ever accompanied her. At most, a robot butler would take care of her food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. No one had ever made her so completely attached and trusted like she was at this moment.
"I love you."
Qi Siling actually just wanted to hug her tightly and let her fall asleep in his arms again, but he didn't expect her to suddenly confess her love.
He held her face in his hands, his eyes filled with affection, and lowered his head to kiss her lips. "I love you, too!" At this moment, he felt incredibly content. He no longer felt as anxious as he had at the beginning, nor did he feel unworthy of her. He would work hard to become stronger, to hold her securely in his arms, and never let anyone separate her again.
It was a long and lingering kiss. Qi Siling kissed her gently everywhere, turned over and laid her flat, hovered above her, and then let her go.
"Be good, have a good sleep. If you're bored, read a book. I'll go find your brother." She wasn't feeling well, and if nothing was wrong, he wanted to stay with her. "I'll come and stay with you when I'm done!"
Xia Youyou nodded and looked at him reluctantly.
Qi Siling hardened his heart, tucked her in, and stood up. Looking at her lingering eyes, he leaned over and lingered on her lips for a moment.
Lips and teeth touched, exchanging breath again.
It was half an hour later when Qi Siling walked out of the room. He closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief. It was awful!
The three men reunited at No. 10 Huada Street, discussed it together, agreed with Xia Youyou's idea, and began to implement it.
Cao An and Qi Siling came out from the main gate and stood in the yard, looking around seemingly unintentionally.
With just this casual glance, the two of them looked at each other again, and they saw the surprise in each other's eyes. Qi Siling nodded slightly and walked towards home, while Cao An went in the opposite direction. After walking a long way, a person peeked out from behind an inconspicuous tree across the street from No. 10 Huada Street.
Chen Caiyun had been keeping an eye on this place since school started. She had to focus on her studies, but she was also worried that if someone else was truly reincarnated like her, it would be disadvantageous to her. She didn't have any big plans, just wanted to live a good life in this life, away from scumbags, and not be deceived again.
Studying medicine has always been her dream.
Today was Sunday, and she had left some books behind. She had just retrieved them when she saw the two men coming out of the building under renovation. Unsure of what was going on, she instinctively hid behind a nearby tree, waiting until they had left before daring to come out.
I can't figure out how these two future bosses knew each other so early and became friends, and what about that building across the street? In my past life, there were no private tenants who built buildings here so early. I was the one who first mentioned buying the house from those two old men before school started, so why did it end up in their hands?
She stood still by the road, looking at the five-story building rising from the ground. She felt more and more that it looked like the architectural style of later generations. So, who was it that was reborn like her?
"What are you looking at?"
A rough voice sounded behind her, bringing Chen Caiyun back to her senses. She was startled and turned around.
This wasn't the first time she'd seen this man. In her previous life, he'd rescued her from that dark little house. She was grateful to Cao An, but...
The way he looked at himself now was cold and inquiring, without a trace of warmth. He was definitely not the gentle head of the police department in his previous life!
