Chapter 142 Selling Buns

When she woke up, Xia Youyou was alone. She had fallen asleep last night out of exhaustion and felt very cold. It was a long time before she was embraced again in a warm embrace. She touched the temperature next to her and it was cold again.

I rolled over onto my back to wake myself up. I glanced at the time. It was already 8:00, so the workers should have arrived.

I quickly packed myself up and went downstairs, just as Qi Siling came in from the front yard. "Why are you up so soon? I was just about to call you." He walked up to her, put his arm around her, bent down and kissed her on the forehead, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Xia Youyou glared at him, reached out and pushed him away, causing him to chuckle.

"Let's go out for breakfast. We're all waiting for you." He said as he walked, holding her little hand.

As they entered the restaurant, the workers looked over at them, their eyes filled with unexpected hope. She was momentarily stunned, then realized it must have been Uncle Wang who had told them about joining Anhai Company.

She walked forward, glanced at them one by one, and smiled back.

"My dear uncles and aunts, I'm sure Uncle Wang has already informed everyone of the situation. My original plan was to form a construction team in two years, but now, by some chance, I've been able to move up my plan, so I've accepted it. First of all, I want to thank you all for trusting An Hai and choosing us. My current idea is to do my best to ensure you have something to do. However, we're still students, and school is about to start here, so we might not have enough time to spend on the construction team. When my brother Cao An finds work, he'll ask Uncle Wang to notify you all."

Everyone looked at each other, not quite understanding what she meant.

"What I mean is, I can't offer you formal positions right now, as we're only just starting out. The solution is that my brother will be in charge of contacting projects. If we get a project, it'll be the same as now, with 30 yuan per person per month, including three meals. We'll consider finding you a place to live based on the situation, so you won't have to travel back and forth like you do now. If there's no project, you can all stay home and take care of the crops. Please understand this; we can't possibly keep a bunch of people employed if we can't find a project. It's unrealistic. All I can guarantee is that if there's a project, we'll give it to you!"

Wang Qiang understood. He could comprehend it, and it was easier than going out and looking for work on his own. "Okay, we'll do whatever you say."

Xia Youyou breathed a sigh of relief. As long as they could agree with her ideas, everything would be easy.

"Then let's just make it a deal!"

March 1st is the first day of school at Hua University.

The project of the guesthouse was handed over to Wang Qiang. Everyone felt that he was trustworthy and conscientious.

Early in the morning, Liu Hui and two cooks had already prepared breakfast. A group of people had already gathered at the gate of Hua University. Xia Youyou and the others also got up early to help. Xiao Hai went to pick up the workers, so they were not in a hurry to sign up.

Some people who hadn't had breakfast stopped to look at the clean restaurant at the main entrance of Huada University. It had only been open for a short time, and someone had already taken the risk of selling food openly, which was a novelty for everyone.

Liu Hui opened the steamer and began to shout, "Come, come and see the freshly baked buns. Four cents each, three for ten cents!"

The shouts attracted everyone. The meat buns in the steamer were large and fragrant. Even the hungry people couldn't help swallowing their saliva.

"Why are your buns so big? Could it be that the meat inside is all cabbage?" A thin man standing in front looked a little unconvinced.

Liu Hui smiled and picked up one at random, "Here, look, there's real meat inside!" The bun was opened, revealing the meat filling. The juice flowed down Liu Hui's hand, making people want to take a sip.

She put the buns into the bowl brought by the cook, took a knife and cut the buns into four pieces, and handed one piece to the man. "Here, try it and see if it suits your taste."

The four people standing in front each got a piece. The short man gobbled it up whole, still not satisfied. "Auntie, give me three!" It was good value for money; three would be enough for three meals!

Xia Youyou was laughing as she watched from behind. Why did she feel like that person was someone her mother hired?

The sale of steamed buns started in the front in a lively manner. Cao An and Qi Siling brought the steamed buns in the pot to the front and replaced the steamers that had been sold out.

"It seems a little not enough! There are still workers who haven't eaten!" Xia Youyou was a little worried.

"Cook some more rice for the workers. If this is gone, it's gone. There's not enough meat filling." Cao An was washing rice in his hands, and he and Qi Siling worked together to lift the pot onto the stove.

When Xiao Hai and his men arrived, they saw the entrance was blocked by a crowd of people. After finally squeezing in, they realized that the buns were almost sold out. "Auntie, is there any breakfast left? The workers haven't eaten yet."

Liu Hui didn't have time to look at him. She wrapped the buns in her hand and handed them to someone else, saying directly, "Yes, there's white rice cooked in the back. You can bring people in from the side. Come on, classmates, stand over here, don't block the door. There's plenty, there's plenty. Line up and come one by one!"

Seeing that no one was moving, Xiao Hai became anxious. The workers were still waiting to start work. He squeezed in from the side and waved to the workers, "Come in one by one."

Xia Youyou exclaimed, "What a mistake! Why put it right at the door?" This won't do. We need to change the place tomorrow.

Cao An wanted to step forward, but was stopped by Xia Youyou, "You look so fierce, be careful not to scare people away."

Cao An was so angry that he turned around and sat down, "Do you dislike me?" He remembered that when he first met this girl, she was obviously scared by him.

"Hehehe, how could that be possible~" Xia Youyou carefully moved over and gently squeezed his shoulders. "You're my best brother, who would dare to look down on you? I'm just afraid that if you go over there and scare people away, Mom will beat you up, right?"

Cao An raised his hand to hold her head down, but Qi Siling was quick to pull the little girl into his arms.

"Tsk, you two should be careful about the impact, there are so many people outside!" It's really unbearable to watch!

"Lie~" Xia Youyou was hugged tightly, and her furry head poked out from the side of Qi Siling in provocation.

"Okay, stop messing with him!" Qi Siling pulled her little head back into his arms. He really couldn't do anything with this girl. The brother and sister would quarrel with each other every day. "Go and pack up. We have to go to school soon."

The three of them had been studying overtime for the past few days, but they had only scratched the surface. It was indeed as Xia Youyou had said, looking at future high technology from the perspective of today was an unbridgeable gap. Even with their current high receptive abilities, they still couldn't fully grasp the content of the book, let alone self-study.
