"Then you can choose the job of changing beddings in the guesthouse, and you can just be there during the day." Xia Youyou woke up and looked at the man.
Unexpectedly, there was a little girl there. The woman looked under the cash register in surprise. She was really pretty.
Xia Youyou yawned and stood up, not paying attention to her daze. "Sister, where do you live?"
"My home is in the alley behind me, so when can I start work? How will I be paid?" The woman was happy. These days, it's hard to get a regular job, even part-time work is hard. This place is close to home, and I can go back home at night to cook and take care of the children. It's very convenient.
"We'll officially open on May 1st, which is the day after tomorrow. Come over then." She pulled out a long-prepared contract from a side drawer and handed it to her with a smile. "This is our contract. Take it back and look over it. If you're sure, come over tomorrow to sign it. It lists the wages and days off."
The woman took the paper and began to read it. She only knew a few common characters and really needed to take it home to show her husband. So she looked at the girl and said, "I'll go home first and come back tomorrow."
The two men watched the woman leave, and Qi Siling helped her sit down again. "Why don't you go back to sleep? Sitting there is no solution. There won't be many people coming in the morning anyway. I won't know the price, so I'll go check it out over there. Don't worry."
As they were talking, Liu Hui came over to bring them food. Looking at the neatly arranged goods in the small supermarket, Chao Xia put down the food and smiled leisurely, "This is great. All we have to do is check out, unlike the supply and marketing cooperative where we have to queue up to weigh our goods."
Liu Hui said with a loving look, "They are all your good ideas."
"No, this is all thanks to everyone."
"Okay, eat quickly." There was nothing he could do with this girl. He just shook his head with a smile and asked her to eat without saying anything else.
The small supermarket was back on track. Just as the Anhai Guesthouse was about to open for Labor Day, the president of Hua University approached the two.
After dinner, Liu Hui packed up and went back over there. She had just heard the bell ring for the end of get out of class at Hua University, and she guessed that the students would be coming out of the school gate by now.
The food at Anhai Restaurant was delicious, and the portions were generous. Compared to the food at the Huada cafeteria, it was a fantastic value. After eating there, the students told their classmates about it, and business at Anhai Restaurant boomed. At mealtimes, long lines formed outside, making it a virtual alternative to the Huada cafeteria.
The couple walked side by side aimlessly in front of the small supermarket. Xia Youyou was a little full and didn't feel comfortable sitting down, so the two of them walked to digest their food.
It was not easy to hold hands outside, so Qi Siling could only walk while looking down at her from time to time.
Xia Youyou's beautiful eyes flickered, and when he looked over again, she tilted her head to meet his gaze. "Why do you keep looking at me like that?"
"You're beautiful!" He couldn't get enough of looking at her. "Marrying you is the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me."
"What about the possibility of good fortune in the future? Don't be too sure!"
Qi Siling didn't answer. He knew in his heart that nothing could be more fortunate than this. From an empty heart to a full one, the whole process was something only he could understand.
"cough."
A light cough interrupted the affectionate gaze between the two. They stopped and looked in the direction of the sound.
"Hello, Principal." Both of them were surprised, but they greeted him in unison.
"Okay, I found your brother and then I realized you were here."
"What does the principal want to talk to us about?" Xia Youyou was puzzled. Hadn't they already graduated?
"We've received a call from higher-ups, hoping you'll participate in follow-up research and development." The principal received the call this morning. Their graduation project had caused quite a stir in China, and higher-ups had bypassed the research institute and gone straight to the school, hoping to transfer them to the Academy of Sciences.
Xia Youyou thought she should go to the research institute and refused without thinking.
“We don’t go to the research institute.”
"It's not a research institute, it's an academy of sciences," explained the principal.
"Academy of Sciences?" The two looked at each other, seeing the confusion in each other's eyes. "What is the Academy of Sciences?"
The principal was reluctant to elaborate and just pointed to the sky.
Xia Youyou's eyes widened as she thought of something. Then she thought it was impossible, "But I'm just a computer researcher."
"Don't worry about that. Just help them speed up their calculations. Ideally, it should be faster than your fourth-generation computer."
Xia Youyou smiled. Isn’t it easier to be faster?
"You can go, but our guesthouse is about to open in the next two days, and we still have things to do, so we can't leave for the time being."
The principal almost laughed out of anger, and pointed at her helplessly, "The Academy of Sciences is a stable job, what future do you have working in a guesthouse like this?"
Xia Youyou complained in her heart, but she didn't dare to say it out loud. "How can there be no future? It's obviously very promising! Money and money!"
"Okay, I'll go back and call. Wait for my news."
The principal turned and left.
Xia Youyou stuck out her tongue, feeling a little embarrassed.
Qi Siling pushed her shoulder and went back to the small supermarket. "What does this academy of sciences do?" Seeing that there was no one outside, she asked, not understanding what the principal meant by that gesture.
"It's a rocket!" she blurted out. "I've thought about this before. If we want the Internet, we just need to launch satellites into the sky. And what computers need is the Internet. Isn't it like sending a pillow when you're sleepy?"
Her little mouth chattered on and on about her thoughts and plans.
"Then why don't you just agree?" Qi Siling asked after she finished speaking.
"I'm afraid this Academy of Sciences will be as arrogant as the people last time." This is exactly what she doesn't like. In this era, people with stable jobs often exude an inherent arrogance, which makes her very uncomfortable.
