Chapter 462: Forcing People to Do What Is Difficult

Boom boom boom.

Tathagata continued to attack, and Shachen also fought desperately.

He had no choice but to use powerful force to prevent Tathagata from coming in.

At this time, Shachen was also thinking about how to deal with the situation.

If he continued to resist, his danger would increase because he didn't know whether Tathagata came alone.

If other strong people also take action at that time, it would be bad.

The most important thing is that Shachen felt that Tathagata was too powerful and the deterrent effect he had on him was too great.

As long as Tathagata continues to attack, he will feel uneasy.

In fact, Tathagata also felt bitter in his heart. He also silently regretted not taking action earlier, which led to the current situation.

He was in a dilemma.

You can't move forward, and you can't move backward.

Because once he retreated, he might never be able to enter the Quicksand River again.

He could feel that Shachen's strength was making rapid progress, and after listening to Shachen's sermons for more than a year, he finally understood why Shachen's strength was improving so quickly.

Sha Chen has thoroughly understood the Three Pure Ones' Taoism and has even comprehended the Quasi-Saint Chapter, which means he has comprehended even more than him.

When he first became a disciple of Tongtian Sect Master, he obtained the complete Qingping Sutra, but did not obtain the Tao Te Ching and Yuqing Sutra.

It was only later, when Lao Tzu sent him out of Hangu Pass and into the Western Paradise, that he received the quasi-saintly chapters of the Tao Te Ching taught by the sage Lao Tzu.

After so many years of contemplation, he believed that his understanding of the Tao Te Ching had reached a superb level.

After just listening to Sha Chen's sermons for more than a year, he felt that his understanding of the Tao Te Ching was not as profound as Sha Chen's.

Even the Qingping Sutra, which he had comprehended the most in the past, did not seem to be as complete and profound as Shachen's comprehension.

It made him feel frustrated, deeply powerless, and a little doubtful.

With his talent and understanding, it's understandable that his Tao Te Ching is not as good as Sha Chen's, but how could he not be as good as Sha Chen in the Qing Ping Sutra after countless years of contemplation?!

This is a bit unreasonable.

However, he didn't know that Sha Chen's understanding of the Three Pure Ones' Taoism came from the system, and he could directly comprehend it to the level of minor success.

Then he used the wordless heavenly book to assist his comprehension, and what he obtained was a more complete and perfect Three Pure Ones Taoism.

With the teachings of the saints Laozi and Tongtian, his understanding of the Three Pure Ones' Taoism is naturally more profound.

His advantage over Tathagata is that he has a system that can directly help him comprehend, and he also has the wordless heavenly book, which allows him to possess the complete Three Pure Ones Taoism.

Unlike Tathagata, although he is a disciple of a saint, it is not necessarily the case that the saint will teach him the complete Taoist teachings.

This is not a joke.

As the saying goes, a teacher can only lead you to the door, but the practice is up to you.

There is also a saying that goes, "Teach your apprentice and starve yourself to death."

These two common sayings are both about the relationship between a master and his apprentice. It is very likely that the master will keep something back.

It’s okay to keep one trick up your sleeve, but if you keep several tricks up your sleeve, that would be a tragedy.

Based on Shachen's understanding of the Three Pure Ones' Taoism, he could have heard different feelings when the Jade Emperor came, let alone the Buddha.

Therefore, Tathagata felt that he might be more suitable for Buddhism because his understanding of Buddhist teachings was incomparable to that of sand and dust.

But I still feel a little uneasy. The Qingping Sutra and the Tao Te Ching are not as important as sand and dust.

Tathagata said, "General Juanlian, I only want to go in and discuss Taoism and Buddhism with you. Why are you so stubborn and unwilling?"

Sha Chen said, "Buddha, you are joking. I have already told you that it is inconvenient and there is no room for you to come in. Why do you still insist on coming in?"

Tathagata said, "You have a deep prejudice against my Buddhist sect. Can you tell me what I have done wrong that makes you so afraid and resist me?"

Sha Chen said calmly, "Buddha, you're joking. I've always kept my distance from both the Immortal and Buddha schools. I'm in awe of them, not afraid or resisting them at all."

Tathagata continued, "However, your attitude towards the immortals and Buddhas is completely different. You practice Taoism and immortal arts, but you completely ignore the Buddhist teachings and supernatural powers, and do not practice them at all."

"Isn't this just looking down on Buddhism? Or does General Juanlian think that Buddhism is not worth practicing?"

Shachen laughed.

He shook his head and said, "Buddha, you're joking. My cultivation of Taoism is a matter of chance, and I've practiced Taoism before. I was also a demoted immortal. I understand immortal arts and practice them. What's so surprising about this?"

"As for what the Buddha said, I haven't practiced Buddhism and don't understand it. This is actually quite normal. I simply don't understand Buddhism, so how can I practice it?"

Although he was talking big, his hands did not slow down at all. He continued to attack, determined not to let Tathagata set foot into the Liusha River Cave.

Tathagata did not relax and continued to attack, while also continuing to try to break through Shachen's defense line from a psychological perspective.

He continued, "It doesn't matter if General Juanlian doesn't understand Buddhism. I came here to teach you Buddhism."

Sha Chen said, "Buddha, this is a bit unreasonable. I have already said that I do not want to learn Buddhism and do not understand Buddhism. Why do you insist on me learning Buddhism?"

"It's said that all beings are equal, and that Buddhists are kind and compassionate, always treating others with kindness and never forcing others to do things against their will. But what the Buddha did today truly betrayed the tenets of Buddhism, constantly making things difficult for me. What's his intention?"

Tathagata laughed and said, "General Juanlian, you are joking. I have come from the Western Paradise to convert those with predestined connections. Today, seeing that you and the Buddha have a predestined connection, I have come specially to convert you. Why do you think I am forcing you?"

"hehe."

Sha Chen sneered and said, "Buddha, why are you so hypocritical? I cultivate here, live in harmony with the world, and never worry about anything. I never feel pain, and I never think that I am destined to be with you. If the Buddha comes, he will save me. Is this salvation? This is murder."
