Chapter 101 Information Tracking
A hangover tormented me for half the day.
You shouldn't drink alcohol.
That's what I thought, but I was really happy yesterday, so it was just a small price to pay.
The two little ones who climbed onto the bed last night have disappeared without a trace. Only the dents, tingling, and fur left on the bed and in the crook of my arm provide indirect evidence that they were there.
After thanking Hikari for the hangover soup, I felt much better, as if my empty, burning stomach had been relieved. However, my head felt heavy, so I remained nestled in my familiar seat, not wanting to move for a long time.
The spine, which had been in the same position for a long time, made a creaking sound when it moved.
After finally opening the door, I was too tired to move my weary limbs.
"Ah, Mr. Yumi, are you feeling better now?"
Hikari, who was running around the room with the maids, hopped closer and tilted her head to look at me.
The child seemed completely unaffected. He had even emptied a glass of strong liquor when I wasn't looking yesterday, yet there was no trace of the disarray or discomfort left by the hangover on his face.
A sudden flash of inspiration crossed my mind. I vaguely remembered that Yao had mentioned in a conversation that this little fool seemed to have high poison resistance... Could there be some connection between the two?
"Sister Yao came to tell you before that she had prepared some light food for you today."
Hikari, who had left sometime earlier, scurried back and pushed me into the house. She then opened half a bowl of still-warm thin porridge from the clay pot she had brought over: "I soaked freshly chopped ginger in water, added shredded chicken and blanched shrimp, along with some chopped green vegetables and seasoned with sesame oil. I don't know if you can eat this now."
No, I can't eat any more.
Despite saying that, after Hikari's repeated pleas, he still ate half a bowl.
It seemed that I did feel a bit better. My stomach, which had been a little cold before, was now warming up, and my spirits were lifted. I didn't even notice that the magic power within me, which had been sluggish, was slowly returning to its normal operating speed. After a while, even the fatigue from forcing myself to move earlier seemed to vanish as if by illusion.
Was there anything in the porridge I just ate?
Somewhat speechless, I've never heard of any food that has a restorative effect before. It's not like those magical dishes in food comics where golden light appears when you lift the lid.
"What? What?" Hikari tilted her head, who was playing with Pupu who had sneaked in.
"For example, special effects such as increased recovery or stamina recovery."
Blinking, Hikari tapped her palm with her clenched right hand: "Yes, it does. But it's not one of those magical effects Mr. Yumi described. It's just the ingredients Miss Aisha drew."
I:"……?"
"I just found out today too. Miss Aisha has been practicing her drawing skills diligently lately and has decided to start by practicing with inanimate objects."
Hikari, her fingers twitching, showed a hint of excitement on her face: "It's said that in order to prevent the accidental creation of new life forms within the painting, and instead to allow the user to determine when to use this ability based on their own free will, they are trying to start from the most basic level."
"At first it was simple structures, then complex still lifes, and recently I've been turning to processed food... but there have been some problems with this, because the food has become detached from the painting after being colored, and has become something that actually exists."
"...and then it was processed into food?"
The little idiot nodded: "At least it's edible, it won't run around, it's not alive, and many of them taste much better than what Sister Yao brought out. After eating them, my stomach feels warm and cozy, I don't know how it does that... Anyway, as long as it doesn't give me diarrhea, that's fine!"
That's true.
Although it's unclear whether there will be more problems, it doesn't seem so at the moment, so we can rest assured for now.
"Oh, right! And also, it's said that those strange colors that were originally on the manifested objects are gone!" Hikari added, announcing the exciting news, "Maybe in a few days, everyone will be able to see what the cat really looks like!"
Progress is a good thing.
Although I myself am stuck before advancing to the next level, it's still a good thing to hear that someone I know has made a breakthrough.
Stretching my limbs and standing up again, I asked as I walked towards the door, "Is Yao the same as always today?"
Sending the core spirit into the small garden must have caused quite a stir. I haven't been back for days, and I don't know if there's been any reaction over there.
I had tried sensing the movements inside the miniature garden from the outside before, but that couldn't compare to confirming it directly inside. I had originally planned to check it as soon as I returned to the miniature garden, but I was tormented by a hangover for half a day, and even though I'm gradually recovering now, I don't have much energy to try using the adjustment mode right now.
"Sister Yao is still investigating those previous reports. She says she seems to have found a new lead, and we'll be focusing on confirming it today."
Hikari's footsteps followed closely behind. The doll maids in the hall came and went, and although their numbers were much fewer than half a month ago, they still carried out their work in an orderly manner.
"But, is Mr. Yumi alright?"
A hesitant question arose amidst the mingled footsteps: "You suddenly ran back to the little garden last night and didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to your uncles, aunts, and everyone else... Is that alright?"
I remained silent for a long time, then shook my head: "It's nothing. I often disappear on my own, so maybe everyone's already used to it."
