Chapter 117 Scheduled Matters

Chapter 117 Scheduled Matters

Annie dragged me into the lobby of the hot spring cabin. Without any further guidance, I immediately understood why she had summoned me.

With a semi-transparent body, a gray shadow with a twisted vortex at its head floated silently in place, with a khaki shoulder bag slung across its body.

Although I had never seen it before, I knew clearly that the figure was the messenger.

It wasn't the kind of contract with a mentor, but it was probably the strange woman who always covered her face with a fan, whom I had unexpectedly met in the Sacred Tree Barrier.

Not far away, we could see Ai An warily observing the messenger's figure. She was huddled behind a pillar like a vigilant kitten. After noticing that someone had entered through the door, she deliberately went around in a big circle and quickly shrank behind us, but she couldn't help but peek out to check if the scene was safe.

Seemingly reacting to my presence, the gray-shadow-like messenger seemed to turn halfway, drifting towards us and stopping in front of us.

It seemed to be scrutinizing me, and I could sense subtle fluctuations emanating from the direction of the messenger, gently touching my senses.

After a brief pause, a crisp "ding-ding" sound rang out in the air, as if announcing that the verification had been completed. It extended a slender, tentacle-like object, rummaged through the shoulder bag, and handed me a beautifully packaged parcel with two letters, one gray and one silver.

I hesitated for a moment before reaching out to take it, and asked doubtfully, "Were these all sent to me?"

The messenger nodded, bowed to me again, and gradually faded into the air with a clear, bell-like sound.

Soon, as the subtle fluctuations around me subsided, I confirmed that it had completely left.

"What's going on? What's going on?" Annie curiously peered over, examining the object in my hand. "It looks like a gift? Should I help you open it?"

Half a day later, I was happy to see her so energetic now, but I'm more concerned about something else.

I gestured to the two people who were hurrying in from the door not to worry and to rest for a while. Then I turned to Ai An, who was quietly standing behind me, and asked him, "You can see, right?"

The young boy seemed startled by my sudden conversation, taking a small step back before clutching his clothes and timidly meeting my gaze as he replied, "...Yes. May I ask, is there a problem?"

I shook my head, half-squatted down, reached out and touched his head, and said a few words to comfort him.

It wasn't a big deal, but it was still quite shocking to suddenly discover that someone around me had the talent to see into the spirit world with just the naked eye.

Perhaps the Star Cultist who captured him and put him in the laboratory was attracted by his rare talent.

It's not like I haven't heard of some heartless bastards who like to kidnap children with unusual talents to conduct their forbidden research, even calling it a controlled experiment... It makes me want to vomit.

Fortunately, the child was saved; otherwise, there might not have been any chance that she would have followed the same path as Miss Aisha.

However, there are still things that need to be reminded of, such as: repeatedly emphasizing to him not to display this ability in front of others.

"Even if you see something, it's best to pretend you didn't see anything."

I advised, and after thinking for a moment, I added a few more words: "Unless you trust the other person as much as you trust yourself, and are certain that even if the other person knows your abilities, they will wholeheartedly protect you."

"Of course, if that can't be achieved, there's another way: make a [contract] with that person, making them forget, or keep it a secret. Unless there's a devil present, or there are too obvious loopholes, the contract is absolutely trustworthy."

Perhaps it was because I looked very serious when I said these words, or perhaps it was because Ai An has a cautious personality, but seeing him nodding earnestly, he clearly took my words to heart.

However, if possible, it would be better to seal this ability of his appropriately.

One's innate talent cannot be interfered with, but it can be appropriately enhanced or diminished, or even abandoned, just like Miss Aisha whom I saw in my memories earlier. However, the origin of the ability to directly see the spirit world is unknown; it may be related to the eyes or some other kind of perception, but some attempts must be made.

Perhaps it would be better to equip him with glasses that have an effect that reduces inspiration?

While pondering these matters, after stating that I would prepare the necessary documents for the contract for him as soon as possible, I watched Aion return to his room, then turned back to Annie, who stood to the side with her hands behind her back, occasionally glancing curiously at the package in my hand.

I raised an eyebrow: "Curious?"

Anne nodded quickly, a glint of shrewdness flashing in her dark red eyes.

While I spent most of my time in the miniature garden, either indoors or discussing business with Yao, I did have a few conversations with Annie, and I knew that this was her way of showing extreme curiosity about something.

I wonder what kind of life this poor girl had led, and how her family had taken care of her. In the first two days after she arrived in the garden, she would exclaim in surprise even at the sight of the water surrounding it, as if she were a country bumpkin who had never left the village and had never seen the world.

If there hadn't been other onlookers around, I probably would have used my toes to carve out the rough outline of a miniature garden while I was leading her on her stroll.

However, although I didn't open the package, after thinking about my interaction with my supervisor a few days ago, I had a vague guess in my mind, so I didn't plan to open it in front of others.
