He hesitated for a longer time than before, but finally seemed to sense a slight smile curving up at the corner of the boy's mouth: "...At a time like this, what's the use of saying whether you believe it or not? The giant rats that had surrounded us had begun their final assault, their scarlet eyes fixed on us, their sharp claws gleaming with cold light, and drool dripping from their open mouths.
Panicked cries rang out between the wildly swinging iron rods. Before I could be pounced on, I grabbed the petite boy and forcefully pulled him into my arms before he could protest. Then, using the force of kicking the giant rat, I fell straight backward.

The rushing wind no longer howled, but gently lifted us into the air, like weightless feathers, and after readjusting our posture, we landed lightly on the ground.
The splashing dark red and shattered white mingled together, crashing onto the nearby ground. Only the spot where we landed remained untouched by dirt, thanks to the lingering gentle breeze that still surrounded us, protecting us safely.
I instinctively tilted my head back and took a deep breath.
Now, I can clearly sense the faint flow of magic in my surroundings.
