Chapter 121 Teaching Tasks
As my senses returned, a faint rustling sound was gathering from all directions.
Even without seeing it with your own eyes, you can clearly tell that it is a rodent that is much larger than a cat.
Although their numbers aren't large, on this track where there's nowhere to hide, the chaos caused by these giant rats might allow me to find a way out of this predicament and buy myself time to understand the present and what might happen next.
The main problem is to escape this damn game world without dying!
I feel that the current situation is seriously affecting my sleep quality tonight. I even suspect that I will dream about bad things.
I should have chosen a suitable daytime and made thorough preparations before conducting the research.
But regret won't solve the problem. Even though it's not a real body, the sense of oppression I feel now is almost real.
The person in front of me is very strong, at least in close combat.
If I were to create distance and then unleash my ultimate move, it would be difficult to predict who would win or lose.
After a brief moment of holding my breath, another question lingered: Does magic stone exist in the underlying structure of this world?
After some simple thought, the conclusion is that it is highly unlikely to exist now, but it might appear as time goes on and the underlying setting of the world changes to a fantasy genre.
In other words, I currently lack the ability to confront and defeat the man in black before me head-on; at most, I can only stall him for a while.
The deep blue interface displayed in the peripheral vision also clearly demonstrates this:

[Code Name: ?]
Age: 21
[Personal Attribute: An Intervener from the World]
[Ability Attributes: Stamina lv5, Strength lv4, Agility lv6, Magic lv10+ (Limited)]
[Equipment: Saint's Earring (Left)]
[Special Components: Library of All Things (partial), Fool's Curtain (fragment)]
It looks like a replica of my physical condition in real life.
While the lower scores in the first three attributes are frustrating, what's even more annoying is the restriction on magic power in the last attribute. Casting spells requires magic power, and most of my spells are wide-ranging and extremely intense, demanding even greater magical power. This restriction renders most of my commonly used spells useless. It's like swinging a sword at yourself before the battle even begins.
It's not like it's a berserker build that sucks blood; I've never seen such a ridiculously insane restriction.
Although I vaguely guessed that this meant I needed to deepen my understanding of the basics, the approach was still too embarrassing.
As for the final special component, it made me hesitate for a few seconds. The key to the Library of All Things was indeed with me, but why were fragments of my mentor's other authority also appearing in the prompt box? I had no memory of receiving anything like this before. Could this be what the letter mentioned, "some precious and special materials were used in its creation"?
While I'd like to explore this further, it's best to focus on what's about to happen for now.
As I held my breath in this standoff with the man in black, the faint sounds around us grew closer, and I could even hear screams and cries coming from the direction of a fleeing crowd in the distance. The boy who had been struggling behind me had also quietly gotten up, looking around warily and whispering a warning about the approaching swarm of rats.
"...I've never seen you, but...it doesn't matter, no one can reach the end. You will all die eventually too."
Just as I thought the man in black was about to strike with his knife, and I instinctively tensed up, the man with the gloomy eyes turned around and walked back into the train carriage, which was a mess under the blood-stained lights—the pieces of the chopped corpses had disappeared without a trace, as if they had never existed, leaving only countless scattered clothes and bloodstains, proving that a sudden massacre had taken place there.
Giant rats have already climbed onto the railway tracks; despite their abnormally large and obese bodies, they still move with surprising agility.
The sharp, gleaming claws sliced through the hard track with a mere touch, leaving the gray fur tangled and stained with dirt.
That damn bastard doesn't seem to have any intention of helping at all.
Fine, anyway, I never wanted to travel with that kind of awful guy.
I gestured to the boy behind me to prepare to leave, but I was still furious and then said harshly: "I don't need you to worry about me, you bastard. What I'm best at is surviving no matter how dangerous the situation."
"Hopefully, you won't be the one who dies before us."
The man in black gave one last glance, then disappeared into the long, blood-red carriage without a word.
“…Sir, although what you said is very good,” the boy’s voice trembled as he looked on the verge of tears, “but before that, we may die.”
Following the direction pointed out by the boy who had retreated behind me, I looked around. A dozen or so giant rats with scarlet eyes had surrounded us from all sides, making soft squeaking noises as they gradually approached us.
And in the senses scattered around the narrow railway, they even sensed no fewer than ten giant rats of the same size, approaching from the direction the people had fled in, their lips and teeth stained with obvious blood.
