Amidst the ambiguous laughter, scattered screams erupted from the periphery. Through the gaps in the ranks, one could clearly glimpse several groups of women rapidly moving into the distance, while a few others sobbed softly, unable to conceal their terror, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
I withdrew my gaze, stared at the filthy, turbid sphere that was straining to open for a moment, and, facing the impending pressure, asked with a belated smile, "...What if I say no?"
"...Brother Uriel!"
"What are you pretending to be, you big shot! Tell me! Do it, or die!"
The pulling from behind made me avoid the shoving coming my way, but what followed was a group of people surrounding me, their faces sneering, as if they had been waiting for a long time and began to count on their fingers.
"Our escape route has been cut off, what should we do?"
Sheng anxiously whispered a reminder. Even in his panic, he didn't rush to break through. Instead, he followed closely behind me, lowered his center of gravity, and made a defensive posture with his bare hands.
"Don't worry, my preparations are almost complete."
I responded to his anxiety in a low voice, thought for a second, and then asked again for confirmation: "If there is trash in front of us, cleaning it up won't affect what's going to happen next, right?"
"What? No, no, it shouldn't be... a big problem..."
Will it affect the main storyline?
"……Won't."
"That's good."
I nodded slightly, took Sheng back half a step, put one hand behind my back and the other on my chest, imitating the posture Alice had once demonstrated. Facing all the mocking and teasing gazes, I smiled and offered a standard greeting: "Have you ever heard anyone say that all sins will eventually be punished?"
"...Pfft, is this guy some kind of religious fanatic?"
"The world is ending? That's bullshit!"
"Haha, maybe he's a madman. No wonder he chose to rebel against Brother Tiger!"
"Crazy idiot! Haha!"
"That guy on his team is so pathetic. He never expected his trusted teammate to be a lunatic! Haha!"
That was a really jarring noise.
I glanced at them and saw that the people gathered nearby didn't choose to make a move. Instead, most of them stood with their arms crossed and hands in their pockets, looking like they were watching a good show. And where their eyes were focused, the bastard in the floral shirt stood up and exaggeratedly waved his arm, deftly lifting the blood-stained baseball bat with one hand and repeatedly striking the back of his neck with a dull thud.
"You two have both made your own choices, right?"
He approached slowly, his more rugged physique blocking out most of the light as he bent down, casting a deep shadow.
"I thought they would be good subordinates, but since they have chosen to rebel against me, it seems I don't need to show them any mercy."
The baseball bat swung, producing a sharp whistling sound.
I scanned the faces of the cheering crowd around me, checked everyone's location, pressed down on Sheng's trembling shoulders, and finally whispered a reminder: "Close your eyes."
The next instant, muffled sounds erupted all around.
It's like a leaky sealed package, or a large package full of contents that has been suddenly punctured.
The swinging baseball bat trembled and stopped not far to the left of my cheek. The tearing wind brought an overflowing bloody smell, causing my bangs to flutter briefly, obscuring my vision, before returning to their original position a few seconds later.
The cheers stopped abruptly, as if a scene had been frozen in silence.
A few people realized something was wrong and looked around in surprise. They smiled and reached out to touch their companions who were close to them. After a brief moment of stunned silence, their faces showed fear.
I pulled Sheng along and took another step back.
As if a signal had finally arrived, a series of sounds followed: the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground, the cracking of wood chips flying everywhere, the gurgling of water overflowing, and shrieks filled with terror.
Once again, this open space became the focus of everyone's attention.
I looked around at the results of my own handiwork.
The broken sacs lay scattered and piled up nearby. There were no obvious external injuries, but in an instant, a large amount of red, white and black substances flowed from their seven orifices, staining their still smiling faces into a messy rag. Yet, their living bodies still maintained their proper temperature.
The few guys who couldn't get away in time were slammed to the ground by the bodies of their former comrades. They struggled and screamed in unease, but they couldn't get out of the way. It was as if the swinging baseball bat had broken their own legs and spine, leaving them weak and powerless.
Only Sheng, who was standing close to me, obeyed my words well. Although his face showed a mixture of anxiety and unease, he gradually stopped trembling after I repeatedly patted his back to comfort him.
"Can I open my eyes now?" he asked.
"Wait a little longer."
For the sake of children's mental health, such images should not be shown to the public.
The bastard in the floral shirt who had just been threatening to beat us was now face down at our feet, with most of the splinters and nails from the destroyed baseball bat embedded in his torso, causing the blood to flow right over my feet.
I frowned, but decided to wait a little longer.
"monster……"
"Murder! Waaaaaah..."
"Another madman..."
"What just happened..."
"Mom, I'm scared..."
Scattered noises rose from all around, and I could feel many gazes from different angles piercing my body. When I looked back, I could only see many faces filled with fear, yet they dared not meet my eyes.
