"I have another question."
The instructor placed the prepared medicine into my palm, watched me drink it down with a silent smile, and then continued, "How could you be so foolish as to fall for such a low-level illusion?"
She was probably referring to the [gallery].
“Master, don’t you already know? When I first saw the appearance of those who had fallen for the spell, I thought they had been frightened or had been intimidated, so I didn’t think about it that way.”
A sour and bitter taste rose on the back of the tongue, along with the floral and herbal aroma that shot straight to the top of the head. I felt the cold medicine flowing through my esophagus, sinking down into my intestines, accumulating deep in my stomach, and then permeating my limbs and bones with the ceaseless flow of blood.
I naturally understood that my supervisor wouldn't deliberately harm me, but this strange feeling made me finally stick out my tongue and frown: "What is all this stuff? Why does it smell so strong?"
The ingredients I glimpsed when I first entered the restaurant were only a part of the main ingredients, and I had already experienced the overwhelming aroma of herbs. I thought I was mentally prepared for this, but perhaps because I drank it now, the deep flavor became more and more obvious. Even gagging and rinsing my mouth with water could not dispel it. Instead, I felt the strange flavor spreading more and more clearly, filling my entire body.
"That's why I always worry about you, my dear silly disciple."
The mentor hummed a cheerful tune—a habit she only had when she was in a good mood—and waved her fingers to direct the used utensils to wipe themselves clean and pile them aside: "Ah, don't worry, although it may feel strange for a while, what you'll use will ultimately be things that are good for your health."
"Miracle fruit, thousand-year-old leaf, white jade tree shavings, extracted herbal essences, golden silk hair, dewdrops that have shone with the first rays of dawn, the breath of slumbering twilight... Let me think what else... Hmm, that's right! I also threw in two red magic stones at the end."
What kind of nonsense is this...
I forced myself to stay rational and resisted the strange sensation, half-annoyed, and retorted, "Why are you adding magic stones?! I'm not a fairy! Humans can't eat or digest magic stones!"
"It's okay, you can be one too."
My mentor smiled kindly, floated into the air and patted my head. Her small palm cast a cool, moonlit light that gradually seeped into my exposed skin.
"I know, I know, my dear disciple. I know everything about you, from the past to the infinite possibilities of the future."
"You are afraid that you will face something you cannot bear; you long to escape but cannot ignore it; you hope to have a small sanctuary where you can breathe, just as a city is to its inhabitants; you hope that I am your support, afraid of meeting you yet longing for it... But it doesn't matter, no matter how many requests you have, as long as you ask me, I can fulfill them."
Am I really as good as she says?
I was confused, but my tutor kept murmuring the words he had said many times before, stroking my hair again and again.
The cool fingertips traveled down from the top of my head, brushing past the slightly warm back of my neck. In an instant, it felt like tiny electric currents coursing through my body, making me shiver and sending a tingling sensation through my mind.
The urge to let those cold hands caress me a few more times combined with a strange sense of shame that overwhelmed me. I endured for a moment, but finally chose to push them away. I pretended to be an adult and struggled to stand up by supporting myself on the table behind me. However, I couldn't control my limbs to make any precise movements. I could only support myself and look around for a more comfortable place to lean on.
The mentor floated to the side, paused for a moment, then suddenly sensed something, turned to face me, and with her outstretched arms revealing her flat chest in the shape of a young girl, she blinked her right eye and smiled at me coquettishly: "So, do you want to act like a child who has been away from home for a long time and act coquettishly with your favorite mentor?"
"I heard that there's a trend of stories about mothers of young girls lately."
I... find it hard to say I don't want to.
Imagine a person who is feeling extremely uncomfortable due to an abnormality in their body. If a beautiful woman who was once very close to him but is of much higher status and ability is willing to open her arms and accept him, and even only shows her charming and innocent expression to him, who wouldn't be moved?
I won't!
Even though the unusual physical condition makes me desperately want to find a comfortable and reliable support, preferably one where I can lie down and rest, that support will not be my mentor! Especially not a mentor who is like a young girl!
Teacher-student relationships are prohibited!
A youthful appearance is strictly prohibited!
Especially when the target is an all-knowing witch!
"Tch, failed..."
As I struggled to move against the wall and finally slammed myself onto the waterbed, I heard a distinct clicking of the tongue behind me.
The waterbed, cool yet retaining a trace of warmth, seemed to want to swallow me whole, gently enveloping my upper body, while the transparent membrane struggled to resist, as if trying to push me away. It was as if my little boat was on the ever-rising tides, with only the faint scent of hair at my nose whispering to me, reminding my muddled mind who had just been lying here.
"How about you rely on me once in a while? As long as my dear disciple is willing to act spoiled with me, whatever you want to do, know, or possess, you can do it with ease, okay?"
The indoor lighting had inexplicably become dim.
Unable to muster the strength to turn my head any further, I rolled my eyes, only to see the few rays of light slant away from behind the figure in front of me, leaving behind large patches of gray shadow.
