Chapter 137 Transaction
I woke up again on the other side.
After doing it many times, I gradually got used to it.
Okay, there are times when I get really into games, mostly when I first start playing a fun or interesting new game.
Although it is neither right now, it can at least effectively improve the existing proficiency in controlling and using magic, so it can be considered a suitable goal to strive for.
I don't know how much I've improved.
Although there are similar skill proficiency systems, they are useless because they cannot be clearly quantified. It would be better not to give them any at all in the first place.
But that might mean there wouldn't be any beginner tutorials, making it too difficult.
It started off like a hellish, tough game, and it's only now that things are starting to look a little better thanks to my own efforts.
Where should we focus our efforts next...?
"Wow! Brother Uriel, you're awake!"
A familiar sigh rang out just in time beside me. I turned my head and saw a huge pile of moving shopping bagsāor rather, a pile of shopping bags that almost completely submerged my small frame.
"It's true that timing is everything. Here, Xiaoxi and I just went to one of the nearby surviving clothing stores to find some changes of clothes for everyone. We didn't know which ones you would like, so we just picked the ones that looked good to us. Come on, try them on!"
As he spoke, he tried to hand over the bags he was carrying.
Unexpectedly, those higher up, having lost their support, crashed down on me like countless waves in the highest point of the ocean.
Sheng's panic further exacerbated the course of this disaster.
Fortunately, I summoned a breeze in time to catch the falling bags, thus preventing an embarrassing situation where they were accidentally buried by things.
"Waaah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."
Sheng looked like he was about to cry, but perhaps because of his androgynous face, which wasn't ugly even when wrinkled, he didn't feel much aversion: "As expected, Big Brother is amazing. I've only been causing trouble."
"No, I should be thanking you for thinking of me."
I then noticed that I was wearing a familiar-looking small sweatshirt, which conveniently covered most of the torn parts of my clothes: "Otherwise, I might have completely forgotten about this."
As I stood up, I turned around and saw that Sheng's face was slightly flushed as she turned her head away. She was wearing a similar style of sweatshirt, but it was a bit loose, and most of the cuffs were tucked up at her wrists, making it look particularly inconvenient.
I raised an eyebrow, then looked at the piece I was holding and handed it forward: "Do you still want this one? It looks a bit dirty, and you already have a new one."
"Of course!"
He snatched it back and hid it behind his back, then lightly kicked the nearby bag twice with his toes, saying as he backed away: "Hurry up and choose! Quickly change out of those tattered clothes you're wearing! Everyone's waiting for you."
After the footsteps quickly disappeared around the dark corner, I don't know what there is to be shy about, my eyes haven't turned around much since then.
I shook my head and looked away.
Although it was getting dark, there was still a little light left. Even without attracting the condensed fireball, one could clearly see the style of clothing. Most of them were simple and plain shirts and trousers, plus a neat jacket and patent leather half-gloves. I don't know whose hobby it was, but at least it looked much more comfortable than when Princess Grey dressed them up.
I simply picked out a white top and black bottom outfit based on my impressions and intuition, but I loosened the collar buttons because it was uncomfortable. I wasn't used to the light hem and didn't like the padded shoulders, so I couldn't make a final decision.
"If only I had a cloak, I could probably add a few trigger spells with a little modification..." I muttered to myself as I squatted there, agonizing over the options.
Or maybe someone could give me some advice. I have absolutely no sensitivity to these kinds of things. At most, I can only make simple distinctions between what is comfortable and uncomfortable, and what a few fixed techniques I can apply to them.
"Um, Chief."
From around the corner where Sheng had disappeared, a delicate voice suddenly rang out again: "You seem troubled. Although we couldn't find the cloak, how about this?"
I looked at Xiaoxi, who had timidly appeared. The female student, now dressed in a short jacket and skirt, was carrying a long cardigan, probably made of fine cashmere. The pale yellow fabric was delicate and soft, with exquisite patterns. Judging by its length, it should have just reached around my thigh, which was quite pleasing to the eye.
I nodded my thanks to her. It really relieved me of my indecisiveness.
"But why would you think of giving me this?" I suddenly became curious.
Xiaoxi's reason was also very simple: "Because I heard that she was a mage, I thought that maybe she would prefer loose clothing? The clothing stores nearby were either destroyed or mainly sold clothing and sportswear, which felt very different from the image of a mage. In the end, I found this piece of clothing in the warehouse of a small shop whose signboard could no longer be found."
No, what's the impression I have of a mage...?
I was speechless, but since I had received a gift from them, I couldn't complain too much. I just studied the pattern on the cardigan for a while and tried to embed several triggering spells inside before putting it on.
"It seems like only tall, handsome guys can pull this off!"
