I thought for a few seconds: "So you think those guys have shown up again?"
Sheng nodded slightly.
"Do you know what their purpose might be?"
"No, I don't know. But it's precisely because I don't know that I'm worried."
Hugging his knees tightly, Sheng rested his chin on them: "All I know is everything I've confirmed in each playthrough of the game. With that information, I'm sure I can keep going until the very end. But... a lot of what's happening now is beyond my comprehension, and the information I have is almost entirely useless..."
"It still has its uses and can play a role."
I think I've figured it out. This child simply lacks self-confidence and is overly focused on others and the environment, so she unconsciously tends to think from the other person's perspective. If left unchecked, she might one day fall into a deep abyss of self-doubt.
That won't do; his presence is still very useful to me for the time being.
Even a slightly inaccurate prediction is much better than complete ignorance.
"If you hadn't prepared in advance, we probably would have spent a lot of time and effort in the first exhibition hall of that hidden dungeon, right?"
I ruffled the boy's hair and handed him a few skewers of grilled meat: "Not to mention, if you hadn't taken us to the dungeon beforehand, the people here would have faced even more tragic casualties and wouldn't have received reliable medical treatment when the fourth mission officially began, right?"
I gestured for him to look at the people huddled together in twos and threes around him.
Compared to the first night in this temporary safe zone when people avoided us like the plague, the remaining survivors, though mostly wounded, now looked at us with much gentler eyes, and were no longer huddled in corners.
Even when their eyes meet, they no longer look away as if they were being stared at by a ferocious beast, but after a brief moment of stunned silence, they nod slightly in acknowledgment before continuing with their own business.
Not to mention Shan and Xiaoxi, who spontaneously stayed nearby, and the Juncheng family, who were willing to help us manage the order inside the temporary safe zone.
At least everything seems to be getting better.
Even by rating standards, this should at least get a score close to 90, right?
Sheng seemed to have been somewhat comforted, and his expression softened considerably. He then frowned and turned his head away, muttering, "I'm not a child anymore," and "I still haven't done well enough. I need to keep trying." He then lay down on the cardboard and prepared to sleep.
In short, let tomorrow's problems be your own to worry about tomorrow.
Sheng clenched his fist and said goodbye with these words: "Although I still feel uneasy, at least when I wake up tomorrow, I will try to actively gather any usable information, and then use the knowledge I have gained from completing so many playthroughs of the game to try to seize opportunities when they arise and try to stop crises before they occur! In the end, I will strive for an ending where everyone can be happy!"
"Then I wish you success in reaching that happy ending."
I touched his fluffy, tousled blue hair again, and saw the boy's gentle, androgynous face relax and gradually drift off to sleep. Leaning against the cold iron wall, I yawned. Also due to the pressure of consuming a lot of magic power just now, my tired spirit gradually sank and fell into the dark space.
Then, impatiently, she opened her eyes again because of the strange sensation.
There was a slight itch on the tip of my nose, and something seemed to be moving around on my face. I also felt a slight pressing sensation on my abdomen.
I opened my eyes with a bit of annoyance, and the first thing I saw was the wooden roof of the house, which had become all too familiar these past few days, and the magic stone lamps hanging from it. But strangely, the roof of the wooden house in front of me looked exceptionally far away, as if I were lying flat on the ground, gazing at it from afar.
But it's still strange; the beautiful string of magic stone lamps seems a bit too big. I don't know if it's just my imagination, or if they were always that big, but I hadn't noticed before.
Then, I belatedly realized that something soft had been placed behind me, like a multi-layered goose feather blanket or a huge pillow.
Shaking my groggy head, I tried to get up to check, but a pair of soft hands that almost filled half of my field of vision pressed me back into place.
A familiar voice rang in my ears: "Ah, Mr. Yumi, you're awake? Did I use too much force on your hand and make you uncomfortable? Should I try a different gesture?"
What gesture? What's wrong?
I was puzzled, but Hikari's voice flowed quietly in my ears like a melodious stream, or like the clear chirping of a lark in the forest, making me almost unwilling to do anything else. I just wanted to lie back down and recover my energy in sleep.
But then I felt a soft, rustling sensation on my stomach again, which made my ears feel itchy and I couldn't help but want to scratch them.
I did scratch it, but it's still very strange.
The same goes for physical touch.
If I'm not mistaken, I should be lying on my back right now, having my belly smoothly stroked from top to bottom, right? But strangely, I don't feel any aversion or itchiness. The warm palms and slightly cool fingertips sweep across my abdomen from top to bottom, and I feel a kind of electric shock-like pleasure running down my spine. I wish the other person could stroke me a little longer.
