Chapter 158 The Visitor
Yes, rows of bookshelves.
However, what's rather strange is that there are only two... no, three books currently displayed on the bookshelf.
One was extremely thick, another was locked with a thin chain, and the last one was somewhat unfamiliar.
After carefully checking the first two, I quickly realized after a moment of stunned silence that they were the two books that had been swallowed up by the sudden water ripples.
"The Book of Ash's Heart"—that's the name of that massive book. Just by looking at its thickness, you can tell it must be a book that records a long history. Opening it at random, you'll see dense, tiny text that's almost dizzying and gives you a headache.
Another book, tightly sealed with fine chains, is titled "The Dream Territory Academy Development Planning and Management Manual." While its contents and the reason for its sealing are unknown, its contents remain unconfirmed, but perhaps it will be unlocked when the time is right.
As for the last book...
My gaze fell upon the book with its platinum-colored cover.
It was a book with a similar color scheme and format to the Book of Everything itself, with a pure white cover and gold-trimmed corner protectors. However, its presence was far less noticeable than the other two books, only slightly more eye-catching than the background color, so much so that I almost didn't notice it at first glance.
Furthermore, unlike the other two books, this book does not have its title written on the cover. Instead, it features a silver-gray clasp pattern and a key pendant resembling a severed dagger.

The viewer's identity has been confirmed.
[The following is a transcript of past conversations for confirmation and reference.]
The moment my fingers touched and unlocked the silver-gray clasp on the book cover, a screen of azure light suddenly appeared before my eyes, flashing three times in a row.
A faint warmth appeared in the lower part of my eyes, like the feeling after repeatedly rubbing my eyes with my hands after getting something in them, or the feeling after staying up all night with my eyes open. This was followed by a surge of tears. Physiological tears, almost uncontrollable, seeped from my eyes, wetting my eyelashes and making everything I saw appear as a thin mist.
After I finally managed to get rid of my eyes, which were constantly being tormented by tears and mist, I froze on the spot the next moment as I looked around to make sure there were no other problems with my eyes.
Just like the speech bubbles I saw before that appeared above the heads of characters in the game, now, in my eyes, countless speech bubbles of different sizes, shades, and levels of transparency have appeared above the heads of the survivors. Those from a longer time period are smaller and more transparent, while those from a shorter time period are larger and more noticeable.
For me, this was a truly shocking and impactful development.
Before this, even though I knew that this was just a fake world, I would still subconsciously forget those additional conditions because the people around me had similar appearances and thinking abilities to those I knew. I would treat them as if they were real people, even if it was just a few words.
Now, the appearance of these bubbles is silently and clearly telling me that the beings appearing before me are not real humans, but rather some kind of humanoid beings with similar appearances and thought patterns to humans.
I looked again at the faces of the survivors.
In my eyes, those faces that were not very familiar to me were now transformed into flat textures that could only be called faces, but had no features. Then, as time went by, they turned into seven holes on a lump of flesh.
The holes moved in a predictable pattern, opening and closing, releasing new bubbles from above. Sometimes they would turn to other places, swinging their limbs, also made of flesh and mud, their torsos twisting slightly.
The world seemed to be tinged with a chaotic rainbow at some point, before gradually turning black.
I couldn't hear any sound, and even the air seemed to be forcibly taken from my lungs, and a cold chill quickly spread through the extremities.
The magic within me escaped my control at a certain moment, boiling restlessly. Even though I tried my best to calm it down, it still showed signs of leaking outwards and about to explode.
"...Brother Uriel!"
The sound of cheerful footsteps suddenly came from outside the door, accompanied by a familiar neutral voice, waking me from a deep, nightmarish hallucination.
I shook my groggy head vigorously, making sure everyone was still the same. Suppressing the discomfort rising in my throat, I turned my head and saw a being brimming with life opening the door and quickly approaching me.
"Big brother, big brother, hurry up and show yourself! Someone wants to see you!"
Sheng, who had just said he was going to supervise the inspection, looked extremely excited. Without waiting for my consent, he came over, grabbed my hand, and tried to lead me outside.
"...Someone wants to see me? Who?"
Clearing my throat, I finally regained my usual voice, though it was slightly lower than before, which shouldn't raise too much suspicion.
But, they actually said they wanted to see me...?
There's something vaguely off about it.
I know nothing about this world, and I shouldn't know anyone here, let alone anyone who would have come here for this reason.
Even considering those who were unwilling to stick with us before, and who eventually turned to the survivors who called themselves the Doomsday Cult when we were exploring the hidden dungeon, those guys had no reason to come back to see me, let alone specifically ask to see me. I'm even certain that those guys had no idea we had moved here, even if they casually mentioned me to the religious person who took them away.
