Chapter 177 The Battle Lasts More Than One Round
Three beams of light, each with a different color and nature, burst forth from our hands almost simultaneously.
It was a spear wreathed in lightning, a sword beam chilled by frost, and a pure light that seemed to have a powerful restraining effect on the dead.
The lightning, which had been unleashed without chanting, was compressed and amplified in a short time. The sword shadow, which was extremely concentrated with energy and spirit, almost solidified into a physical form and tore through the air like silk. The Pure Light that was unleashed again had also improved significantly due to the accumulation of experience. This was almost the most powerful combined attack that we could currently offer.
Furthermore, these seemingly unrelated forces, at this moment, appeared to share a common goal, triggering a strange chain reaction. They intertwined and spiraled together, forming iridescent light that eventually merged into a dazzling white, striking straight at the bone dragon burning with eerie blue flames that swooped down from the sky.
Admittedly, the difference in power is enough to be suffocating, and the difference in life level is an insurmountable chasm.
But at this moment, for some reason, perhaps because a trustworthy friend was beside me, someone I could entrust my life to, or perhaps because our beliefs, spirit, and magical energy were in perfect harmony, a thought suddenly arose from the depths of my heart:
Perhaps it is not impossible to surpass, or even defeat, the opponent.
Like an ant trying to shake a giant tree, a mantis trying to stop a rolling wheel, or a knight riding a horse and charging arrogantly towards a distant windmill, even so, some things will not yield results if you don't do them.
Miracles and hopes, with a probability of less than one in a billion, are contained in the gaps of the impossible, guiding the madman's aspirations toward possible reality.
Under the blinding light, I squinted, trying to make my vision and senses transcend the magical chaos in mid-air, and stared intently at the moment when the combined attack and the bone dragon's body completed their intimate union.
The bone dragon, plunging down with a gust of wind, opened its mouth wide, its leaping, eerie blue flames swaying vividly from side to side, eventually converging in front of it into a huge sphere that absorbed the wind, faintly emanating an ominous aura.
The remaining trees nearby shook violently, the desolate sand was swept up by the wind, and gravel and large pieces of soil flew around wildly. The trees with exposed roots seemed to be trying to stabilize themselves on the ground, but they still could not resist such a strong attraction and broke free, revealing the desolate and naked iron-gray rock.
The wobbly pegasi beneath us tried to fold their wings, huddle together as much as possible, lower their bodies to stabilize their center of gravity, and bite the ropes binding us, attempting to hold each other to the ground. But they were no match for our strength and could only struggle to maintain their balance.
The sandstorm raged, and the trees swept up by the wind were cut into fine pieces of wood chips. These chips, along with even finer sand and gravel, fell on people, leaving vivid wounds. The blood trapped within them was forced to stretch into threads and dissipate into the wind.
However, perhaps because it was too hasty, the attack did not have the enormous effect it had in terms of momentum.
The next moment, the combined attack, now transformed into a dazzling display of light, made contact with the massive, temporarily assembled sphere.
I cannot describe what just happened with my inadequate vocabulary.
Almost instantly, the world before my eyes was like a rapidly moving, man-made black and white film, with a grand white light that almost completely enveloped the world, suddenly bursting forth at the same moment of the collision.
And so, everything returned to darkness and silence.
The heart stops beating, the organs are impacted, the five senses disappear, the perception of time and space becomes unbalanced, and even the question of one's own existence becomes an ambiguous lie.
Was it a success? Or a failure?
Or perhaps, what I was just having was a delusion before my eternal sleep?
Ultimately, does "I" truly exist?
An existence fabricated by an outside observer, given a name and appearance, a false life and mission, and almost no attention or support, stands on a desolate stage with randomly piled-up backgrounds and networks of relationships, staging a never-ending sandbox farce.
Ultimately, by simply closing the seemingly exquisite cover, this being called "I" will instantly dissolve into the background color like a bubble rising from the water and simply vanish without a trace.
I was unable to obtain a concrete answer.
It felt like a fleeting moment, yet also like an eternity had passed, when I finally felt the flow of blood and magic within my body.
To be honest, if I had a choice, I would rather not have experienced either of these two things, or at least have delayed them for a while longer.
Perhaps due to the previous powerful impact, countless tiny capillaries showed signs of rupture, leaving numerous small wounds all over my body, and my once smooth and lively magic was now blocked in many places. As a result, intense pain struck, an excruciating pain that was almost unbearable for an ordinary person, causing me to let out a hoarse scream that I could hardly suppress—yes, even my vocal cords were damaged.
Next, my senses returned to a blur, which further aggravated the pain in my body.
I couldn't help but feel a surge of relief, because at that moment, through my still incomplete senses, I perceived that the defensive walls and barriers that were still being maintained subconsciously, even though they were cracked and damaged, were still able to barely protect me and the others around me, greatly preventing us from dying on the spot.
