Shaking my head to seal those thoughts aside, I tapped the table and asked, "Tell me about the flower fairy."
“Flower Fairy…” Hikari pondered for a few seconds before carefully speaking, “The name ‘Flower Fairy’ was actually given to it by the mercenaries and the city lord’s men who went out to hunt down that monster. No one knows its true form yet; all they can see is a large, dense patch of flowers, and from time to time, they can hear a young woman’s voice constantly mocking…”
At the same time, I subconsciously shifted my perception toward the doorway.
The commotion seemed to be getting worse, with shrieks and jeers reaching inside, interspersed with shouts of anger from those eager to eat because their doors were blocked.
It seems they're about to make their move, right?
As I was thinking this, the woman whom I had presumptuously identified as the true identity of the free agent who had provoked and defeated most of the mercenaries in the city suddenly made a move.
A dazzling white light flashed by in my perception; she had probably drawn the sword from her waist with a light and swift movement. Despite the extremely long blade and the fact that she was within a very narrow encirclement, the thin blade seemed to fly past like an illusion in an instant, deftly weaving through every gap, quickly and accurately slicing across the necks of everyone before sheathing it.
"This is a warning."
She spoke in a low voice, which was deep and carried a faint chill.
Only then did everyone present hear the lingering, crisp sound of the sword being sheathed.
A shocked scream suddenly erupted, followed by hurried footsteps receding into the distance, and the sound of heels striking the stone surface as they drew closer.
I released Hikari, who looked bewildered and terrified, from my arms, stood up, brushed the rubble off my clothes, glanced at the stone wall next to where I had been sitting that had been torn open, and turned to look at the woman who had entered the house. I couldn't help but frown: "You guys are fighting, why are you dragging innocent bystanders into it?"
The woman with icy-white hair glanced at Hikari, then turned her gaze to me, shaking her head:
"She might be a stranger, but you are not."
Damn, it seems she's the kind of person who can detect when she's being watched and pinpoint the target of her perception.
I had heard of such people before. It is said that they are a distinctive perceptive ability that appears only after a magic user who uses tools as the core has reached the ultimate level. They can even achieve a perception similar to that of a mage. In the words of such people, it is the "mind's eye" of a martial artist.
After realizing that the other party might be very strong, I had already restrained my senses and tried my best to control the fluctuations to reduce the possibility of being detected, but I was still discovered.
I didn't even realize I'd been discovered.
Fortunately, the woman with the long, icy-white hair didn't seem to want to linger here. Her attack was just a warning, and the slash happened to land right on top of my and Hikari's heads. Even if we didn't have time to move, we would have only had two strands of hair cut off, and it wouldn't have been life-threatening.
However, the other person's next words made me wary once again.
