Chapter 191 The Missing Story

"But perhaps because our conditions were all so dire, many of the people we had rescued earlier but were afraid of were strongly against us returning to the safe zone. They said our arrival would attract predators who would follow the scent of blood and pose a threat to them."

"Those damned, greedy, ignorant, and fearless disgusting bastards, how could they treat us like this? Even this safe zone was my suggestion to move here, and now that we're all seriously injured and can't fight anymore, they're going to turn around and suggest abandoning us? Have I been too good to them all this time?!"

Although I had set up a soundproof barrier in the vicinity, I still glanced around with some concern: "Is it okay to talk about this here? People occasionally get up at night or wander into this area, right?"

Sheng waved his hand, gulped down several mouthfuls, and frowned deeply: "It's okay. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that I can't do it, I would like to keep telling them this in their ears all the time, so that those heartless bastards can remember that incident."

"So how was this matter resolved after that?" I asked.

Sheng paused for a moment: "Xiaoxi and Duheng helped me. Although Juncheng and Shan didn't say much at the time, I noticed that they were quietly stopping some of the more radical guys. Juncheng even injured his arm because of it. It took me a while to treat him afterwards before I could barely put it back on."

"It sounds like a chaotic scene."

“That’s right.” Sheng pouted, then suddenly changed the subject, “However, that’s not the decisive factor.”

"Um?"

Sheng looked up at the ceiling. Even through the layers of floors, I could still feel his gaze fixed on the tragic protagonist of this game world, who stood at the highest point of the building: "Although I don't know how he did it, fortunately, the Sword Demon, who had been unconscious, suddenly woke up. After briefly confirming the situation, he drew his sword and killed several of the closest and most aggressive individuals, which restored silence to the scene."

I paused for a moment, then nodded slightly.

It seems that the magic blocks that were buried earlier have taken effect, which also explains why I noticed that the area covered by magic blocks on his body had become larger.

However... instead of asking questions, he chose to draw his sword and kill people directly... That really fits his style. I didn't feel much of a sense of incongruity; I just wanted to sigh.

Even though I didn't see it with my own eyes, I can almost imagine what it was like:

Just before sunrise, the three people who had disappeared overnight suddenly appeared from outside the safe zone, covered in blood, and staggered closer.

The first remote sentry to discover the information was relayed to Xiaoxi, who was in charge of overseeing them. Xiaoxi then hurriedly woke up Juncheng and his wife, who had just gone to sleep. When they returned to the hall, they were surprised to find that there were guys who couldn't stand that a group of little kids could be above them. They gathered their companions and blocked the entrance, preventing Sheng, who had brought me and Jian Gui back with great difficulty, from stepping inside.

This quickly escalated into a significant verbal altercation, attracting even more people who had been hastily awakened and arrived at the scene.

A person who loses a reliable leader is a blind, short-sighted, prejudiced, and exclusionary animal. Their vicious nature is deeply hidden within them, accumulating and waiting to erupt in the face of such a sudden disaster.

Once they discover that those who have been elevated to leadership positions may decline, those ambitious and wicked individuals who are adept at targeting the weak will loudly incite the bewildered masses to side with them, thereby securing their own interests, completely disregarding the potential consequences of such actions.

The verbal altercation turned into insults, then into shoving, and further into physical fights. Even if there were clear-headed people in the crowd trying to turn the tide, the incited crowd could no longer hear those rational words. Instead, they regarded them as outsiders and tried to exclude them from their own group.

In such a perilous situation, the tragic protagonist of this fictional world, who already possessed remarkable self-healing abilities and had undergone simple treatment, was the first to regain consciousness. He glanced around, then silently drew his sword and slaughtered all those who crowded around him.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye.

One second it was a bustling, noisy, and surging crowd, and the next moment a carpet decorated with blood and severed limbs appeared around Sheng.

The man in the black trench coat was covered in blood, and the straight sword he had drawn, along with the crimson stains at his feet, made him look like a demon who had traversed countless seas of blood, or perhaps a grim reaper who brought equal death to all living beings on earth—ruthless and cold-blooded.

Then, the scene finally returned to a frozen silence, with only the faint sound of hot blood droplets rolling off the sword, hitting the ground and splashing up again.

Admittedly, such actions are undoubtedly reckless and unwise. They are an attempt to stop violence with even greater violence, without even carefully discerning the good and evil of those people, and brutally killing them. In the long run, this can only bring about bad consequences.

But for the predicament Sheng was facing at that time, this might have been a reasonably acceptable way to break the deadlock.

The ringleaders and accomplices will inevitably be brought to justice, but the price will be the lives of those who may have deserved to die.

I stroked my chin and remained silent for a while as well.

Sure enough, that guy was still a madman.

Although I can understand it, I still find it somewhat difficult to accept this guy's behavior on an emotional level.
