Chapter 196 Diagnosis

Chapter 196 Diagnosis

I recounted in detail what I encountered while conducting my investigation.

Perhaps because the team had grown so large while we weren't paying attention, compared to the scattered bits of information we had heard before, we only realized after actually contacting the outside world that the Doomsday Cultists were no longer just a few small groups, but a huge group that walked openly and enthusiastically on the streets, handing out their membership flyers to everyone they passed by.

Unsurprisingly, I, who was completely clueless about this at the time, naturally received such a membership offer.

What's more, the person who handed me the flyer with a smile became even more excited and fanatical because he vaguely sensed the presence of magic surrounding me. He frantically declared that this was a blessing from the being that was about to bring "equal flames and destruction" to the world, and dragged me to their church branch.

To be honest, I was both confused and amused at the time. I was also somewhat curious to see what the other person was up to, so I didn't immediately try to break free from their grip.

I was confused because I couldn't understand what he was saying at all. It felt like his words were completely nonsensical and didn't get into my ears.

What's funny is that he even tried to drag a mage into converting to the religion. If I weren't currently too powerful, I would even like to do something like dragging the object of his faith to the ground, knocking it down in front of all the believers, and then turning around to see the provocative expressions on their faces.

However, I ultimately failed to reach their temporary branch with that missionary.

I don't know who did it, but anyway, while I was pretending to be interested and chatting with that guy to get information, a violent roar suddenly erupted from the branch location he was pointing to.

When I caught up with the other party, I saw that the building had collapsed into rubble, with red flames flickering and burning, and blood still gushing out like a spring from under the ruins.

Then the guy who was leading the way suddenly let out a howl and went berserk.

He cried and laughed, shouted something, then looked up and slashed his own neck, collapsing while spitting blood.

If I hadn't dodged quickly and instantly created a temporary barrier to shield myself, I probably would have been soaked to the bone.

In short, this is a group of lunatics comparable to Sword Demon... wait, it's really hard to say which group is crazier, this one or Sword Demon...

"Those guys have really lost their minds."

Upon hearing this, Sheng sighed and shook his head, while gesturing with his eyes for me to continue.

Guided by Sheng's magic, a gentle protective layer spread around me, and I continued to ramble on about my experiences in the outside world.

Needless to say, I naturally had no intention of meddling in other people's business.

Although I felt sorry for the lives lost, I didn't want to get myself into any unnecessary trouble. So, after briefly confirming that the people trapped under the raging ruins had been killed before the building was set on fire, I walked straight out as if nothing had happened.

After leaving that road and turning two or three more bends, I quickly gathered some food at a small shop, and then stepped onto a bridge with many remaining traces of people. After walking more than ten meters, I finally felt the chill on my back recede slightly, and I quietly exhaled.

That was the eye that had been fixed on me as I approached the ruins to investigate.

In other words, the being that wiped out all the members of a temporary doomsday cult settlement was hiding near me, observing me all the way until it was sure I was innocent before letting me go.

Although I had considered whether I could greet that person and ask if they had any information I needed, the other party seemed to be deliberately concealing their presence and aura. To be on the safe side, I ultimately gave up on this idea and chose not to alert them.

It's not a big problem. If we're really meant to be, we'll have a chance to meet again someday.

With this in mind, I encountered another group of seemingly normal doomsday cultists.

To say they're normal is simply because I have a very limited pool of subjects to use as a reference group, so I used the guy who died so quickly as a template. Compared to normal people, they are undoubtedly insane.

I was called down by them when I was walking across the bridge to the middle section.

On that haphazardly constructed bridge, the remains of humans and beasts were scattered everywhere. Steel behemoths lay piled haphazardly, blocking most of the passageway, leaving only two lanes in the middle. The two people who appeared to be a couple were huddled inside one of the iron frames, their faces beaming with pleasure, seemingly completely unaware of the danger lurking nearby.

As I walked past from a distance, the man sitting in the seat closest to me suddenly popped out and jogged toward me.

Almost instantly, my wrist was gripped tightly and lifted high, and the man, after confirming that he had successfully subdued me, turned to the woman and showed her: "What do you think of this?"

"Not very good."

The person walking by in high heels looked me up and down, as if I were a product for sale or some kind of food.

She frowned, her tone unforgiving: "Too thin. You're far from meeting the high priest's requirements."

"Then we don't want him?"

"Why not?" she said, contrary to her usual behavior. "We've been waiting here for almost two days, and this is the first one we've gotten. Other places probably already have the required number."
